Apr. 13, 2023 1:06 am – 100 Percent Fed Up reports – In only seven hours, 16 inches of rain has fallen in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, where flash floods are wreaking havoc on the Ft. Lauderdale Airport, which has now been closed, and in the downtown area, vehicles can be seen floating down the streets.
Tornado warnings have been issued in Fort Lauderdale, with areas of the major city getting 15-20 inches of rain.

Torrential rainfall inundated Fort Lauderdale and other parts of South Florida on Wednesday leading to widespread flooding that forced the city’s airport to close.
Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport is expected to be closed until at least noon Thursday because of the flooding. Flights were halted shortly after 4 p.m. Wednesday because of the heavy rain and windy conditions. Roadways into and out of the airport became impassable around 5 p.m.
“Please do not attempt to enter or leave the airport at this time,” the airport said in a tweet.
“We were in the car from literally 4 until about 7 when we managed to finally leave the airport,” Marylin Herrera, who was dropping her mom off for a flight to Los Angeles, told WTVJ.
But after managing to leave the airport, Herrera said, the situation got worse.
“Everybody appears to be losing their mind,” she said. “There’s traffic. Everyone’s trying to get out of the flooded streets. Cars are stalling. It’s just a nightmare.”
Broward County schools announced they would be closed Thursday, too.
The National Weather Service office in Miami declared a flash flood emergency around 8 p.m. Wednesday for the area.
A supercell thunderstorm stalled out over the Fort Lauderdale area and produced rainfall rates of more than 3 inches per hour at times late Wednesday. That resulted in rainfall totals of 14 to 20 inches for a small area in a matter of hours, with some isolated spots likely over 20 inches.
