US’ banning of Israeli entities in Judea & Samaria – boomerang   Ambassador (ret.) Yoram Ettinger, “Second Thought: a US-Israel Initiative”
July 19, 2023

State Department policy

*The June 2023 banning of all Israeli research and scientific entities in East Jerusalem, Judea and Samaria (the West Bank) and the Golan Heights from the mutually-beneficial US-Israel binational commercial research and development projects, such as BIRDBARD and BSF, reflects the return of the State Department to the center stage of foreign policy making.

*This ban is consistent with the State Department’s systematically erroneous and counterproductive policy on critical Middle East issues, as documented by this video and this article.

Please Explain Yourself! 27,677 Seek to Block Reasonableness Standard   by AFSI Staff

July 17, 2023  – MK Simcha Rothman, Chairman of the Knesset’s Constitution, Law, and Justice Committee, on Monday remarked about the reservations submitted regarding the changes to the reasonableness standard.

“I want to thank the members of the opposition for their integrity, and for the fact that they did not agree to advance any compromise on this bill, on what they call ‘dangerous legislation,’ since that was said by them in a unilateral fashion,” Rothman said. “The submission of the reservations is only a sign of the behavior which has taken place here throughout the discussion and the lack of willingness to hold a practical discussion… Unfortunately, any attempt to reach agreements is barren.”

The Knesset’s legal adviser, Sagit Afik, remarked, “This is an unprecedented high in the number of reservations: 27,677, of which 1,649 are party reservations.” She added that, “The Knesset’s job is to legislate, and we will not allow, through a high number of reservations which borders on misuse of the institute of reservations, to delay and even stop the process of legislation which the Knesset desires to advance by means of the committees and the plenum.”

The 27,677 reservations hiding behind a smokescreen find it perfectly acceptable to be present to protest, block roads and threaten violence. Come out, come out wherever you are….speak up and make yourself known. Tell the committee why you object to the reasonableness bill and judicial reforms. Do tell. The curiosity is killing us.

Setting The Record Straight: Part IV: A Subterfuge to Justify Hatred of Jews?    By Alex Grobman PhD.

*Editor’s Note: This is the fourth installment in ‘Setting The Record Straight,’ the most recent series of articles from Jewish Press

27 Tammuz 5783 – July 16, 2023 – “Activists, who often describe themselves as ‘pro-Palestinian,’” as they shout, “From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free,” and other obscenities against Israel on campuses and at other rallies, “do not actually care about Palestinians or ‘’‘freeing Palestine,’” asserts Bassam Tawil, a scholar based in the Middle East. “If they did, they would instead be calling for better opportunities for Palestinians; Palestinian governance that was less corrupt; the equal application under Palestinian leadership of the rule of law; women’s and children’s rights, and freedom of speech, assembly and the press. The current protestors are nothing but Israel-haters — really, anti-Semites — who have aligned themselves with Muslim extremists and terrorists.”[1]

UNBELIEVABLE LYRICS IN BOB DYLAN’S ZIONIST ANTHEM    by Avi Abelow

November 29, 2022 – I was never familiar with this song, but I was told to listen to it and follow the lyrics closely. I was stunned! What a song of truth about the Jewish state of Israel and the Jewish people. Wow!

Dylan’s Zionist anthem: “Neighborhood Bully,”  from Dylan’s 1983 record Infidels, was released a year after the First Lebanon War and two years after an airstrike in which Israel destroyed an Iraqi nuclear reactor outside Baghdad. But its themes have clear parallels with the recent conflict between Israel and Hamas.

The song, a hard-driving rock number, never explicitly mentions Israel, yet it is widely interpreted as a Zionist anthem in the form of a biting satire lambasting those who fault the Jewish state for defending itself.

Well, the neighborhood bully, he’s just one man
His enemies say he’s on their land
They got him outnumbered about a million to one
He got no place to escape to, no place to run
He’s the neighborhood bully.

HOW DID ISRAEL ATTACK IRAN’S DRONE FACTORY?  [13:56]  by David Mark

February 4, 2023 – While most of the world assumes Israel was behind the destruction of Iran’s drone factory in Isfahan, it remains stunned on how the Mossad was able to carry out the attack so deep inside Iran.

To understand why the Mossad has such free movement in Iran, it is important to understand the ethnic makeup of Iran. Most assume Iranians are Persian. However, the country’s ethnic makeup is far more complicated than that. For example two ethnic groups Azerbaijanis and Kurds make up over 35% of Iran’s population. Both of these populations are antagonistic to the regime in Tehran.

Israel and Azerbaijan have a solid working relationship, cultivated over the years. Israel’s Mossad runs operations from Azerbaijan’s southern military bases on its border with Iran. Israel also works closely with Kurdish groups in Northern Iraq allowing it to penetrate the porous border with Iran. These groups also have a tight relationship with Kurdish dissidents inside Iran.

‘I will not burn [holy books]; no one should,’ says Ahmad Alush; decision by Swedish police to allow burning of Jewish, Christian bibles outside Israeli embassy had sparked outrage

15 July 2023, 3:12 pm – A Muslim activist who had received permission to burn a Torah and a Bible outside the Israeli embassy in Sweden on Saturday said he was backing off from the move, adding that he only wanted to draw attention to the recent burning of the Quran in the country.

The man, identified as Ahmad Alush, 32, had received permission from Swedish authorities to perform the act, drawing widespread condemnation and protest from Israel and Jewish groups, among others.

But Alush arrived outside the Israeli diplomatic mission on Saturday clutching only a copy of the Quran and said it was never his intention to burn Jewish or Christian holy books, only to protest the recent burning of the Quran.

“It is against the Quran to burn and I will not burn. No one should do that,” Alush, who is of Syrian origin, told reporters gathered at the scene.

“This is a response to the people who burn the Quran. I want to show that freedom of expression has limits that must be taken into account,” he added.

“I want to show that we have to respect each other, we live in the same society. If I burn the Torah, another the Bible, another the Quran, there will be war here. What I wanted to show is that it’s not right to do it.”

Swedish public broadcaster SVT said Alush threw a lighter in his hand to the ground and said he didn’t need it.
