3 July 2024, 8:56 pm TOI – The Civil Administration which manages civilian affairs in the West Bank designated 2,965 acres of land in the Jordan Valley region as state land last month, paving the way for its future development.

According to the Peace Now organization, which campaigns against the West Bank settlements, this is the largest designation of state land since the Oslo Accords in 1993, and follows other recent large designations of state land including 1,976 acres of the Jordan Valley in March, 650 acres east of Jerusalem in February and 42 acres in the Etzion Bloc in April.

Far-right Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich, who also holds a position in the Defense Ministry with sweeping powers over civilian affairs in the West Bank, lauded the development along with the slated approval of thousands of settlement housing units over the next two days, saying the moves were designed to thwart the establishment of a Palestinian state.

The new designation of state land was issued by the Israel Defense Forces on June 25 but was only published on Wednesday, and involves land some 50 kilometers north of Jericho near the Yafit and Ma’ale Efraim settlements, immediately adjacent to the 1,976 acres of state land that was designated as such in March.

The amount of land declared to belong to the state in 2024 — some 5,852 acres as of July — far outstrips any other year this century, according to Peace Now figures. The highest previous total was 1,181 acres in 2014.

Declaring tracts of the West Bank as state land means they can be slated for future residential development, among other possible uses, but cannot be used to expropriate private Palestinian land which is formally registered in the land registry.

Israel recognizes 3 illegal West Bank outposts, advances construction of 5,295 homes

Move comes one day after government announced largest appropriation of land since Oslo Accords; five illegal outposts were recognized last week

4 July 2024, 10:08 pm TOI – Israel has recognized three illegal outposts in the West Bank in a move to further cement control over the disputed territory, an anti-settlement monitoring group reported Thursday.

In a report, Peace Now said the Higher Planning Council recognized outposts in Mahane Gadi, Givat Han and Kedem Arava on the edge of existing settlements, the report said. It followed a cabinet vote last week to legalize five other West Bank outposts.

While the international community considers all settlements illegal, Israel differentiates between settlement homes built and permitted by the Defense Ministry on land owned by the state, and illegal outposts built without the necessary permits, often on private Palestinian land. In recent years, though, the government has increasingly sought to regulate the wildcat outposts, rather than demolish them.

Peace Now said the government’s Higher Planning Council also approved or advanced plans for 5,295 homes in dozens of settlements across the West Bank.

Furthermore, the report noted that the legal adviser to the planning council was a civilian, a first since the founding of the Settlements Administration, an authority established by the current government and put under the control of far-right Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich in his capacity as a minister in the Defense Ministry.

“[Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu] and Smotrich’s agenda became evident through the decisions of the Planning Council: approval for thousands of housing units, the establishment of three new settlements, and strategic appointments of Smotrich’s allies in key roles instead of military personnel underscore the annexation occurring in the West Bank,” Peace Now said in a statement. “Our government continues to change the rules of the game in the occupied West Bank, leading to irreversible harm.”

The Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories, the military body that oversees the planning council, referred questions to Netanyahu’s office, which did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

The turbocharged settlement drive could further stoke tensions in the West Bank, which has seen a surge in violence since the Gaza war began on October 7, when Hamas terrorists infiltrated Israel, killing some 1,200 people, mostly civilians, and kidnapping 251.

Since October 7, troops have arrested some 4,200 wanted Palestinians across the West Bank, including more than 1,750 affiliated with Hamas.

According to the Palestinian Authority health ministry, more than 540 West Bank Palestinians have been killed in that time. The IDF says the vast majority of them were gunmen killed during raids or terrorists carrying out attacks.

During the same period, 22 Israelis, including security personnel, have been killed in terror attacks in Israel and the West Bank. Another five members of the security forces were killed in clashes with terror operatives in the West Bank.

Ran fought alone against the terrorists and overcame them. He even killed many of them and prevented the terrorists from entering Kibbutz Alumim. Many owe their lives to him: men, women, and children. His heroism, an utmost heroism beyond any imagination, saved their lives.”

“After a tough battle, while he was still alive, my son was kidnapped to Gaza critically injured. We, as a family, received an image which is ever-present in our minds – Ran lying on a motorcycle unconscious in front of an angry mob with an Arabic sign ‘Shifa ER’ in the background! ▪️ULTRA-ORTHODOX RECRUITMENT – THE SANE AND THE RIDICULOUS.. The IDF expressed a position that it should be allowed to recruit the ultra-Orthodox by way of agreement, through marketing and information directed to the sector. So that they will succeed in recruiting 4,800 ultra-Orthodox this year as they promised to the High Court.

The deputy ombudsman and director of the High Courts Department at the Prosecutor’s Office believed that this policy contradicts the High Court ruling.

The compromise: the August recruitment cycle will be the test of the ultra-Orthodox recruitment. The IDF can be allowed to recruit ultra-Orthodox in the August cycle through marketing and information activities, so that recruitment orders will not be issued to ultra-orthodox yeshiva candidates unless they have expressed their consent in advance.

But if the IDF does not meet the relative part of the annual target – the IDF will be obliged to issue compulsory recruitment orders to young ultra-Orthodox in the next recruitment cycle.

(( The ridiculousness of the officials is believing that being issued compulsory recruitment orders will make any difference, and almost certainly will do the opposite. ))

DEFENDERS ARRESTED? In a very strange story with conflicting and partial information, 3 defenders on Oct. 7 were arrested on suspicion of killing a murdering raping looting Gaza terrorist on October 7 by taking weaponry off murdered IDF soldiers and defending themselves and the people of Israel. The three suspects made their way to the Gaza border communities to join the defense. The accusations apparently (not fully released) are: they picked up weapons of murdered IDF soldiers (stole weapons), they interrogated and allegedly murdered an enemy combatant, and they prevented the kidnapping of Israeli bodies and the murder of an Israeli girl with weapons they picked up.

The court at the initial hearing refused to allow the police to hold 2 of the 3, and they were sent to home detention until trial.

(( What is bizarre and disturbing about this: in the midst of a cross border invasion by a non-uniformed enemy performing mass murder, how can any act of defense including rushing to the location and picking up weapons to defend Israel be illegal? And on a related point, although interrogation on video has shown many of these mass murderers admitting to their horrific actions – NOT A SINGLE INDICTMENT HAS BEEN FILED AGAINST ANY OF THEM. ))

October 6th: Unit 8200’s error that could have prevented the massacre

A senior IDF intelligence official confirms that the elite SIGINT unit experienced a system malfunction that was fixed early in the morning – but not before Hamas had begun their invasion.

Jun 16, 2024, 12:13 AM (GMT+3) Israel National News – On the night of October 6, a fault occurred in a technological system used by the elite SIGINT force Unit 8200, which is supposed to provide significantly better information than was intercepted before the October 7th massacre.

Channel 12 News reported that upon identifying the fault, soldiers specializing in handling it were urgently called from home. A senior military intelligence official claims they were called immediately, while another intelligence source claimed they arrived only after 3:00.

They managed to restore the system to operation at 5:00, an hour and a half before the attack began. By the time it resumed extracting real-time information and reconstructing previous data, the attack had already started.

The commander of Unit 8200 said the information about the fault was conveyed to the Head of Military Intelligence, the Chief of Staff, and the director of the ISA. On the other hand, a senior intelligence official claimed to his colleagues that he did not receive a report that the system had ever been offline.

The IDF Spokesperson commented on the report: “The IDF is in the midst of investigating the events of October 7 and the preceding circumstances. The claims presented in the report are being checked as part of the investigations. Upon completion, the findings will be presented to the public transparently.”

‘The sword is coming’: The dramatic warning before the massacre in the Gaza region.

Shortly before the massacre, a sergeant in the elite SIGINT Unit 8200 warned the intelligence officer of the Gaza Division that Hamas training could become a harsh reality.

Jul 4, 2024, 10:15 PM (GMT+3) Israel National News – One of the closest and most focused warnings before the Hamas-perpetrated massacre in the Gaza envelope was revealed this evening (Thursday) on Channel 12 News.

According to the report, the warning ahead of the massacre was written by the same female sergeant from 8200. Like others, it was ignored.

In an email sent by the sergeant shortly before the massacre, she wrote that “The sword is coming. The time to warn the people is now.”

In the email sent to several officers, including the intelligence officer of the Gaza Division, she wrote: “The training shows us that the ‘Jericho Wall’ plan is realistic and rehearsed, meaning that Hamas already has forces practicing these scenarios and knows how to execute them when ordered.”

“It is likely that we will not be able to provide a long enough warning to prepare for preventing the event. This is the place to think about formulating coping strategies for when the event actually happens to minimize the damage,” she added.

She noted that “the other side is determined in its intentions to execute the plan. If the plan is activated – we are expected to fight a bitter and hard battle. The exercise very much resembles the plan that appeared in ‘Jericho Wall’ to destroy the Gaza Division’s defense system. The raid training into the country’s territory indicates that the ‘Jericho Walls’ plan is no longer just on paper.”

She concluded with a note of desperation: “This email is like the horn sounding because the sword is coming – the time to warn the people is now.”

Her words parallel Ezekiel 33:6. “But if the watchman sees the sword coming and does not blow the trumpet to warn the people and the sword comes and takes someone’s life, that person’s life will be taken because of their sin, but I will hold the watchman accountable for their blood.”

Nevertheless, all the officers who received the letter dismissed it.

The IDF responded, saying: “The IDF is in the midst of internal operational investigations of the events of October 7th and what preceded them. The purpose of the reviews is to learn and draw lessons for the continuation of the fighting. The investigations are being conducted these days, and once concluded, will be transparently presented to the public.”

Channel 12 reported that Rambam Hospital in Haifa, Northern Israel’s largest city, is preparing for an extreme scenario involving missile impacts every four minutes for 50-60 days. More than 70 Military Police forces cleared illegal buildings that were erected in the Oz Zion outpost in Binyamin. The forces took steps to disperse demonstrations against protesters.

More than 70 Military Police teams and many other forces are participating in the evacuation of the recently erected buildings.

Upon the arrival of the teams, rioters set fire to tires and a car on the entrance road to the site. In addition, they threw stones at police forces and their vehicles. One of the vehicles was totaled after its diesel tank was damaged.

The military forces took steps to disperse demonstrations against rioters at the site.

In addition, some protesters locked themselves in the buildings, and several stuck their feet in concrete.

‘Thwarting a Palestinian state’: Planning Committee approves thousands of new homes Nitsan Keidar

The Planning Committee is expected to approve over 5,300 new housing units in Judea and Samaria. Another 500 units will be approved to go on market.

Jul 3, 2024, 11:53 AM (GMT+3) – The Civil Administration’s Higher Planning Committee will meet Wednesday to approve the construction of over 5,300 new housing units in Judea and Samaria, as well as the marketing of over 500 other housing units.

Since Minister Bezalel Smotrich took office as a Minister in the Defense Ministry, approximately 21,700 housing units were approved, and 2,600 approved for market, for a total of over 24,000 housing units within the span of 1.5 years.

In comparison, between 2020-2022, less than 20,000 units were approved.

Sources close to Smotrich noted that during the Committee’s meeting, a number of plans will be approved to continue the process of normalizing the young settlements and leading to a de facto normalization of the towns of Mahane Gadi, Beit Hogla, Gva’ot, and the “booster” neighborhood of Negohot.

Among others, important construction plans will be approved for Elon Moreh (186 housing units), Kiryat Arba (over 20 housing units), a plan which adds 435 housing units to the town of Neria thus doubling the existing town, and many other plans in various areas of Judea and Samaria.

Victims of Oct. 7 Massacre Sue Iran, Syria, and North Korea

July 2, 2024 JBN News – The brave families of those killed during Hamas’ deadly massacre against Israel on October 7 are suing Iran, Syria, and North Korea.

Backed by the Anti-Defamation League (ADL), the federal lawsuit filed in Washington DC on Monday accuses all three dictatorships of providing financial, military, and tactical support to Hamas. Seeking $4 billion in damages, Iran specifically stands accused of its open admiration of Hamas’ unprovoked attack and continued pledges backing one of its favorite terror proxies.

“Iran is the world’s leading state sponsor of antisemitism and terror – along with Syria and North Korea, they must be held responsible for their roles in the largest antisemitic attack since the Holocaust,” ADL CEO Jonathan Greenblatt said.

Over 100 plaintiffs represented in the case, which include US citizens injured on October 7, hope to be compensated by the United States Justice Department’s Victims of State Sponsored Terrorism Fund. This fund provides much need relief to individuals who have won judgments against state sponsors of terrorism.

Though Iran and its proxies will undoubtedly treat the lawsuit with contempt, their reaction is of little importance to Nahar Neta, whose American-born mother was tragically killed on October 7.

“While nothing will ever undo the unbearable pain Hamas caused our family or the brutal losses we’ve suffered, we hope this case will bring some sense of justice. It’s important for us to be able to tell our stories so the world can hear how Hamas has terrorized Israel, the Jewish people, and many American citizens,” Nahar said in a statement issued through the ADL.

“In light of the serious incident in which the subject was involved, the detailed intelligence information found in the confidential investigation, and the volatile situation in the region following the Swords of Iron war and its consequences – we would like to oppose the early release of the subject,” the document reads.

The Jewish man was convicted of attacking Arabs, along with others, during Operation Guardian of the Walls in Herzliya. After his arrest, he was interrogated by the Shin Bet and an indictment was filed against him. He was convicted by the High Court who sentenced him to 15 months in prison.

This week the parole board is expected to discuss his request for early release due to good behavior. After the indictment this prisoner underwent rehabilitation and treatment.

Attorney Adi Keidar from Honenu, which represents the prisoner, said: “In such sensitive times, the General Security Service was expected to put in efforts and invest resources in protecting the security of the state and not to waste time with a young man who has no criminal record, who rioted during Operation Guardian of the Walls and received a relatively light sentence, and he has only several months left until his release. It is a shame that we hear about the release of terrorists, including senior officials and the director of the Shifaa Hospital, while on the other hand, this is what the Shin Bet has to do. Freeing terrorists in the middle of a war is important for stability, freeing Jews is dangerous and volatile. The Shin Bet is stagnant on October 6, and this should keep us from sleeping soundly.”

Jul 2, 2024, 12:39 PM (GMT+3) – Gaza’s electricity company began connecting cables on Salah al-Din Street in the Deir al-Balah area, for the first time since the outbreak of the war.

After the infrastructure works are completed, the water desalination and sewage treatment facility will be operated directly from the Israeli electricity grid. The order to connect was given by Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, who explained that it was a move to provide “a response to basic humanitarian needs.”

The Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories (COGAT) noted that the operation of the water desalination facility is being carried out with the approval of the political echelon and derives from humanitarian considerations to prevent pollution and the outbreak of diseases in the Strip.

An official IDF statement on the process claimed: “The eyes of the world, and certainly the eyes of the United States, were focused on the question of how we would handle the humanitarian and civilian aspects of the operation in Rafah. The purpose of the power hookup is to operate a water desalination plant that will provide drinking water to the area where most of the Gaza population now resides. This is water for sanitation and disease prevention – which could endanger both our soldiers and our hostages.”

Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich responded: “We’ve lost our minds completely. Correspondant Assaf Gibor on Monday first reported that the Israel Defense Forces would restore electricity to Gaza, returning power to a desalination plant run by UNICEF in the southern city of Khan Yunis.

July 02, 2024 at 10:46 AM i24NEWS – The Israel Defense Forces confirmed on Tuesday that it will transfer electricity to the Gaza Strip, which was first reported by i24NEWS head of Arabic desk Assaf Gibor.

Speaking to Miri Michaeli on the “Central Edition” broadcast on Monday, Gibor reported that the electricity is meant for a desalination plant to prevent a humanitarian disaster in the Palestinian enclave, which could also affect Israel.

The Gaza Electricity Company is preparing to operate a water facility west of Deir al-Balakh, with the cables spread on Salah al-Din Street. The aim is to prevent pollution and the outbreak of diseases in Gaza, which risks spreading into Israeli territory nearby.

Israeli officials have slammed the move, claiming the power to Gaza could be routed to Hamas and other organizations for terrorist purposes. Aid trucks to to Gaza through the Kerem Shalom crossing have been hijacked by armed Hamas members.

The Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories (COGAT) said the “action will be carried out specifically in a humanitarian way to operate the water desalination plant in Gaza.”

The power will increase water production from 5,000 cubic meters a day to 20,000 cubic meters.

The move, which was approved by the state, “has not yet been implemented,” COGAT said.

Yisrael Beiteinu leader Avigdor Liberman blasted the decision by the “government of folly.”

“After the release of the senior terrorist, the ‘Dr. Mengele’ director of Shifa Hospital, the government continues in the same direction. The infrastructure works in Gaza ahead of connection to Israeli electricity is an even greater folly,” he said.

COGAT has said that the line will be connected directly to the UNICEF-managed water desalination plant in Khan Yunis, southern Gaza.

Liberman’s sentiment was echoed by Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich, who said: “We’ve completely lost our minds. We are restoring Gaza with our own hands, before disarmament, and mainly the hospitals, which are the centers of terrorism. Mr. Prime Minister, stop this nonsense. Shifa Hospital director, arrested for terror activity, is released

Muhammed Abu Salmiya, director of Gaza’s Shifa Hospital, was arrested in November and released together with dozens of other terrorists back to Gaza, due to a lack of prison cells in Israel.

Jul 1, 2024, 9:43 AM (GMT+3) Israel National News (government press) – Gazan media outlets have reported that a group of terrorists arrested in Gaza over the course of the war were released to Gaza – and that the Shifa Hospital director is among them.

Shifa Director Muhammed Abu Salmiya was arrested in November and charged by the IDF and security echelon with using his hospital as “terror infrastructure” over the course of years, allowing terrorists to operate from within it.

Following his release, Abu Salmiya called for the rest of the terrorists to be released as well, saying: “There needs to be a clear statement by the resistance and the Arab nations in order to release the prisoners. The prisoners need to be present, on the table, in every negotiation until the prisons are emptied.”

In recent months, many arrested terrorists have been quietly released back to Gaza, allegedly due to the lack of prison cells available in Israel.

The security echelon has not yet issued a response to the reports.

National Securty Minister Itamar Ben Gvir blasted the decision, saying, “Releasing the director of Shifa Hospital in Gaza, together with dozens of other terrorists, is abandonment of security. It’s time that the Prime Minister stop [Defense Minister Yoav] Gallant and the Shin Bet chief from independently managing the policies in a fashion which is contradictory to the position of the Cabinet and the government.”

The Tikva Forum for Hostages’ Families responded: “While our loved ones are held captive by Hamas, Israel released the mass murderer and Hamas operative who directs Shifa Hospital – the one who hid Hamas terror nests, including weapons and bunkers, where Israeli hostages were murdered in front of his open eyes. Instead of using him as a bargaining chip, Israel is releasing him together with dozens of other ‘uninvolved’ people.”

Jul 1, 2024, 1:14 PM (GMT+3) Israel National News – Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Yoav Gallant are denying responsibility for the release of Shifa Hospital Director Muhammed Abu Salmiya from Israeli detention due to a lack of space.

“The decision to release prisoners follows Supreme Court hearings on the petition against holding prisoners in the Sde Teman detention center. The identities of the released detainees were decided independently by defense officials following professional considerations,” the Prime Minister’s Office claimed.

It added that “the Prime Minister has instructed to carry out an immediate inquiry into the issue.”

Minister of Defense Yoav Gallant’s office commented: “The imprisonment of security prisoners and their release is under the auspices of the ISA and IPS and is not subject to the approval of the Defense Minister.”

The Shin Bet (ISA) also chose to avoid taking responsibility and pointed a finger at another body. “A decision was recently made to change the designation of the Sde Teman complex so that detainees will are only held there for short amounts of time. In accordance with this, following discussions led by the NSC, the ISA and IDF had to release dozens of detainees to make room.

“For nearly a year, the ISA has been warning in every possible forum, in writing and orally, about the lack of prison cells and the need to add room, due to the need to arrest terrorists in Judea and Samara and the Gaza Strip. The lack of space leads to the daily cancelation of arrests of suspected terrorists, and to direct harm to the state’s security. Last night as well, arrests were forgone, including arrests of suspects who are planning acts of terror against Israeli citizens. Unfortunately, these complaints, in writing and orally, that were given to the relevant parties, led by the National Security Ministry, which oversees these issues, did not help, and the detention space did not increase in a way that meets the needs,” the ISA claimed.

The agency added: “Following this, the Shin Bet opposed the release of Palestinian detainees from Judea and Samaria who pose an immediate threat and Hamas Nukhba operatives who were involved in combat and harming Israeli citizens. Therefore, in light of the state’s needs as set by the NSC, it was decided to release a set number of detainees from the Gaza Strip, who pose less of a threat, after examining the threat that all of the detainees pose. Although the director of Shifa Hospital meets all the requirements regarding his threat compared to the other inmates, the incident will be investigated.”

Iran Warns Israel Attack on Hezbollah Will Trigger ‘Obliterating’ War

June 30, 2024 JBN News – Iran has once again issued a chilling threat against Israel, warning of an “obliterating” war should the Jewish state launch a full-scale attack against Hezbollah in Lebanon.

“Albeit Iran deems as psychological warfare the Zionist regime’s propaganda about intending to attack Lebanon, should it embark on full-scale military aggression, an obliterating war will ensue. All options, including the full involvement of all Resistance Fronts, are on the table,” the Iranian mission to the United Nations wrote on X.

In response, Israeli Foreign Minister Yisrael Katz fired back, warning that the Islamic Republic will be destroyed if Hezbollah does not cease its attacks.

“Iran threatens today to destroy Israel if Israel fully responds to Hezbollah attacks from Lebanon,” Katz posted on his X account on Saturday. “My response to Iran is clear: A regime that threatens destruction deserves to be destroyed.”

The current crisis along Israel’s northern border is but one flashpoint in a far reaching conflict fueled by Iran’s expansionist terror ambitions. From the Gaza Strip to Lebanon, Yemen, Syria, and Iraq, Iranian-backed terror groups have relentlessly targeted Israel and its allies, sowing chaos and claiming countless lives.
