Writer Christopher Sykes made several keen observations back in 1968 that remain just as relevant today.
As I was researching the Six-Day War fought 55 years ago, I stumbled across an article written by Christopher Sykes, the son of Sir Mark Sykes, the British diplomat who negotiated the Sykes-Picot agreement with François Georges-Picot. Christopher was a diplomat, soldier and foreign correspondent who wrote about the war in the February 1968 issue of Encounter. He made several keen observations that are relevant today.
Sykes said that he had firm convictions about “the rights and wrongs of the opening of the June war; the need for a united Jerusalem; [and] the need for an Israel acknowledged and respected by the world at large, but especially by the world of Islam.” He believed the third point was most important “and the least likely to be realized, at least in the lifetime of anyone except a small child fated to be a nonagenarian.”
Sykes refers to what he said Dorothy Sayers called “The Voice of Enlightenment.” Today, we might call it “progressivism.” In the context of the 1967 War, Sykes noted that the opening of the war was “a clear case of naked aggression by the Arab powers led by Nasser.” After Israel’s victory, however, “the massing of Egyptian, Syrian and Jordanian troops, the alliance of Nasser and King Hussein, the daily threats of extermination uttered against Israel and the Israelis, the blocking by military force of Israeli access to the Red Sea, the shooing-off of the U.N. peace-keeping force … counted for nothing, according to the voice of Enlightenment, compared to the awful fact that Israeli soldiers fired the first shots.”
Similarly, today’s “voices of Enlightenment” dismiss the genocidal actions of Israel’s enemies and reserve their animosity towards the impudent Jews who dare to defend themselves.

Ukraine has asked Israel for a $500 million loan, Israeli media reported on Tuesday, as the European country’s economy continues to be battered by Russia’s ongoing invasion.

Palestinian Authority security forces have uncovered what they believe is a Hamas bomb lab in Beitunia, near Ramallah, following a mysterious blast in the town, Israeli media reported on Monday.
After being drawn to the site by the explosion, Palestinian forces found a 17-pound explosive device there, Channel 12 reported.
The P.A. has claimed that the lab was part of a plot to attack the Mukataa, as the P.A. headquarters in Ramallah is known, as well as the P.A.’s television station and senior PA officials, according to the report.
The P.A. arrested five Hamas operatives following the incident, including a relative of Hamas’s political bureau deputy chairman Saleh al-Arouri, who is based in Lebanon and heads efforts by Hamas to orchestrate terrorist cells in Judea and Samaria, said Channel 12.

Due in large part to VAERS data, millions of Americans are still apprehensive to receive the COVID-19 injections. Not all of the criticism is unwarranted as reports emerge claiming that more than half of COVID miscarriages were caused by vaccines, as per VAERS data.
A recent review of data from the federal Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System (VAERS) shows that miscarriages after COVID-19 vaccination accounted for more than 50% of all vaccine-correlated miscarriages since the federal government started gathering the data.
Maria Ziminsky and Linnea Wahl, writing at Daily Clout, examine VAERS data on expectant mothers who lost their kids after inoculation from 1998, the system’s first reporting date, through May 2022.
In total, 6,695 women miscarried after receiving immunizations for tetanus, measles, or any other illness throughout that time. The evidence does not prove that vaccinations were to blame for the fatalities (it also does not rule out the possibility that the vaccines caused the deaths). Additionally, it is not stated what proportion of all pregnant vaccination recipients these cases correspond to.

I found the same stuff as for COVID Vaccine: waning effectiveness, “11% effective” after 3-4 years, with effectiveness that was statistically indistinguishable from zero.
