Every volume of Yad Vashem Studies is an invaluable resource. Each one has articles of particular importance to scholars and individuals who have a special interest in the Shoah. In these two volumes, I have chosen articles that should be of interest to both groups.
In Volume 48, the focus is on dispelling the myth of Jewish passivity during the Shoah. Articles include “The Jewish Struggle for Survival in Nazi-Occupied Provincial Poland,” “Jewish Police in the Warsaw Ghetto” and “The Holocaust’s Jewish Calendars: Keeping Time Sacred, Making Time Holy.”
Barbara Engelking, a professor of social sciences and head of the Polish Center for Holocaust Research in Warsaw, examines “Jews Helping Jews Hide Out on the ‘Aryan Side’ in Warsaw.” After the destruction of the Warsaw ghetto, there were approximately 20,000 Jew hiding on the “Aryan side.” Some found refuge for a short period, others for a longer time. Some had never lived in the ghetto, having escaped deportation; still others fled to Warsaw expecting to remain under the radar in the big city, to increase their odds of surviving.
One could survive, Engelking argues, if one possessed a number of assets, and not just money and possessions to sell. “Courage, determination, an awareness of danger, and quick reactions; biological assets (a ‘good appearance’); cultural basics, such as a very good command of Polish, a knowledge of customs and the Catholic religion, a social network, such a family, friends and contacts.” Though not all resources, or even most of them, were needed to survive, a combination of some were essential.

Promises, promises. In October of last year, in an apparent attempt to co-opt the Islam issue from his conservative rivals, French President Emmanuel Macron announced a sweeping new program to defy the Islamic threat to his nation’s society, culture, and values. A major focus of the program was education: Muslim parents, vowed Macron, would no longer be permitted to keep their children from learning facts of which their religion disapproved, and university professors would help shape a new “Islam of the Enlightenment,” whatever that might mean. I wrote at the time that Macron’s promises seemed destined to end up on the scrap heap, and indeed, instead of making significant new demands of Muslims, French authorities have persisted in 2021 in their noble tradition of ruthlessly demonizing and prosecuting critics of Islam, notably the presidential candidate Éric Zemmour. Also this year, in yet another apparent bid to win conservative voters, Macron took to the bully pulpit to condemn the importation of “woke” left-wing ideas from America. His government doesn’t seem to have accomplished much of anything on this front, either. For a perfect example of Macron’s utter failure to live up to his own stirring rhetoric on both the Islam and “woke” fronts, consider the case of Klaus Kinzler.

For several years individual mothers have been fighting alone to get to the bottom of an education crisis that seems to grow unabated. It’s getting worse, even as the education establishment and politicians talk of education “reform” and pour money into a system that continues to turn out children who can’t read or perform simple math.

The US Supreme Court Wednesday evening agreed to hear legal challenges to the Biden Regime’s vaccine mandates.
Last week, a three-judge panel for the 6th Circuit Court of Appeals reinstated Biden’s mandate for businesses with more than 100 employees.
Shortly after the 6th Circuit Court’s decision, the Republican attorneys general, private businesses and other religious groups challenging Biden’s vax mandate appealed to the Supreme Court.
The highest court of the land will hear oral arguments on two of Biden’s mandates – for private businesses and healthcare facilities – on January 7, 2022 after justices Alito and Kavanaugh considered requests to stay the mandates.
48 passengers and staff aboard a fully vaccinated Royal Caribbean cruise ship tested positive for Covid this past weekend.

In a rare show of fortitude from the educational establishment – especially within the woke Bastian of California, one school district is digging in its heels against the medical tyranny that is being imposed by the State’s radical Governor, saying simply that it will ignore the order to mandate vaccines for students and staff.
After overwhelming pushback from parents and community members over Gavin Newsom’s announcement in October that all eligible students must get vaccinated for the upcoming spring semester, the Oakdale Joint Unified School District overwhelmingly passed a resolution saying the district will not adhere to the governor’s authoritarian mandate and will petition state officials to downgrade the requirement to a recommendation.

The FBI fired its lead agent in the Gretchen Whitmer kidnapping case amid wife beating allegations back in September. Richard Trask beat his wife after they returned home from a swingers party.
Special Agent Richard Trask, one of the lead agents in the so-called plot to kidnap Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer was arrested for a ‘domestic incident’ with his wife in July – then released on a $10,000 personal recognizance bond.
The FBI hatched the plot, promoted the plot, paid for the materials, planned the attack, looped in some locals, and then broke up their own plot at the last minute.

A new filing from Special Counsel John Durham suggests that officials from Hillary Clinton’s 2016 presidential campaign could be called to testify as part of his probe into the origins of the federal government’s investigation into the Trump campaign.
In a document filed Friday, Durham’s team urges a federal court to determine whether or not lawyers representing Russia analyst Igor Danchenko have a conflict of interest due to the fact that attorneys at their law firm also represent the 2016 “Hillary for America” presidential campaign and a key campaign staffer. 17. US Air Force Denies Over 2,100 Religious Exemption Requests From Vaccine Requirement
The U.S. Air Force announced Tuesday having turned down a total of 2,130 requests for a religious exemption from the COVID-19 vaccine mandate.
“More than 10,000 requests from across the Total Force have been received, of which approximately 2,100 have been disapproved due to military readiness considerations,” a Tuesday statement by the service read.
The US Army has created a single vaccine that they claim work against all COVID-19 and SARS variants.
