“Have you ever wondered what happened to the 56 men who signed the Declaration of Independence?

Five signers were captured by the British as traitors, and tortured before they died. Twelve had their homes ransacked and burned. Two lost their sons in the revolutionary army, another had two sons captured. Nine of the 56 fought and died from wounds or hardships of the revolutionary war.

They signed and they pledged their lives, their fortunes, and their sacred honor.

What kind of men were they? Twenty-four were lawyers and jurists. Eleven were merchants, nine were farmers and large plantation owners, men of means, well educated. But they signed the Declaration of Independence knowing full well that the penalty would be death if they were captured.

Carter Braxton of Virginia, a wealthy planter and trader, saw his ships swept from the seas by the British Navy. He sold his home and properties to pay his debts, and died in rags.

Thomas McKeam was so hounded by the British that he was forced to move his family almost constantly. He served in the Congress without pay, and his family was kept in hiding. His possessions were taken from him, and poverty was his reward.

Vandals or soldiers or both, looted the properties of Ellery, Clymer, Hall, Walton, Gwinnett, Heyward, Ruttledge, and Middleton.

At the battle of Yorktown, Thomas Nelson Jr., noted that the British General Cornwallis had taken over the Nelson home for his headquarters. The owner quietly urged General George Washington to open fire. The home was destroyed, and Nelson died bankrupt.

Francis Lewis had his home and properties destroyed. The enemy jailed his wife, and she died within a few months.

John Hart was driven from his wife’s bedside as she was dying. Their 13 children fled for their lives. His fields and his gristmill were laid to waste. For more than a year he lived in forests and caves, returning home to find his wife dead and his children vanished. A few weeks later he died from exhaustion and a broken heart. Norris and Livingston suffered similar fates.

Such were the stories and sacrifices of the American Revolution. These were not wild eyed, rabble-rousing ruffians. They were soft-spoken men of means and education. They had security, but they valued liberty more. Standing tall, straight, and unwavering, they pledged: ‘For the support of this declaration, with firm reliance on the protection of the divine providence, we mutually pledge to each other, our lives, our fortunes, and our sacred honor.’”

Jul 1, 2023, 11:10 PM (GMT+3) – Here are five reasons to destroy Hezbollah in a surprise attack now:

#1. Superior results: By definition, a surprise Israeli attack minimizes the damage Hezbollah can cause before it is destroyed. In sharp contrast, if our forces only implement our battle plans after Hezbollah opts to compel us to act, Hezbollah will be the party geared to maximize damage.

#2. War not involving Iran and others: A surprise Israeli attack buys the Jewish State precious time to benefit from carrying out operations in a single-arena or at most dual-arena (Lebanon and Gaza) conflict rather than the treacherously broad multi-arena conflict we could very well face if we allow Hezbollah to decide when the conflict starts.

#3. Diplomacy failed Hezbollah invasion: The world knows that we haven’t acted to forcibly remove the Hezbollah forces now deployed on our side of the northern border as we fear that Hezbollah will respond by plunging us into a full scale war. So its either war or diplomacy and the international authorities have already made it crystal clear that they won’t do anything to actually resolve the situation.

#4. IAF reservists still battle ready: Reserve pilots are among key elements of Israel’s military strength whose “ready” status hinges on their ongoing participation in “volunteer” reserve duty training activity. As of today reserve pilots have only threatened to forfeit their “battle ready” status by boycotting “volunteer” reserve duty training activity in protest of judicial reform. There is no telling what will happen tomorrow.

#5. World focus on other fronts gives Israel time: There is so much going on in the rest of the world that we could benefit by a particularly long “window of opportunity” before facing pressure to stop.

#6. Time is not on our side: While we rush to add such gizmos to our portfolio as revolutionary lasers and various platforms, our enemies are also building up their capabilities at a breakneck pace. This is hardly the time for analysis which only considers what we are working on

JUNE 30, 2023 – On Thursday, the US Supreme Court reinstated the discrimination lawsuit of Groff v. DeJoy filed by Gerald Groff, a former mail carrier in Pennsylvania, who claimed his employer, the Postal Service, discriminated against him for being religious when they disciplined him for repeatedly refusing to work on Sunday, the Christian Sabbath. Groff is suing Louis DeJoy, the US Postmaster General, against the United States Postal Service in which he claimed he was forced to quit the agency because they wouldn’t allow him to have Sundays off to observe Sabbath.

The justices ruled unanimously that employers must grant religious accommodation requests unless they can prove it’s a significant imposition on the business. Previous to this ruling, companies only had to show a minimal impact to deny such requests for religious accommodation.

“I hope this decision allows others to be able to maintain their convictions without living in fear of losing their jobs because of what they believe,” Groff said in a statement Thursday.

Groff is represented by  First Liberty Institute, a conservative Christian organization. His attorneys have asked the Supreme Court to overturn the Hardison precedent, eliminating the de minimis requirement, thereby requiring companies to show a “significant difficulty or expense” before denying an accommodation.

“The whole point of religious accommodation is you have to make special or favored arrangements in order to have an inclusive workforce,” said Alan Reinach, one of Groff’s attorneys.

“They would have to pay him overtime anyway,” Hiram Sasser, First Liberty’s general counsel, said. “So there’s no extra expense.”

Aaron Streett, Groff’s attorney, said Thursday, “This is an important victory for Americans of all faiths, who may now follow their religious consciences in the workplace. It is especially gratifying that the Court was unanimous in interpreting the Civil Rights Act according to its plain language, holding that employers must accommodate religious practices absent an ‘undue hardship’ on the ‘conduct of the business.’”

“This is a landmark victory, not only for Gerald but for every American. No American should be forced to choose between their faith and their job,” said Kelly Shackelford, President, CEO, and Chief Counsel for First Liberty. “The Court’s decision today restores religious freedom to every American in the workplace.

JUL 1, 2023 – We’ve all heard the expression, “In war, the first casualty is truth.” Apparently coined by the Greek dramatist Aeschylus, the expression has been repeated by countless public figures over the centuries.

What is the truth about the war in Ukraine? What are the origins of the conflict? What brought the disagreement between the governments of Ukrainian and Russia—a disagreement that had been simmering for many years—to a full-blown crisis in early 2022?

Years ago I wrote a draft manuscript for novel about murder and political intrigue arising from the so-called Pipeline Opera. The opera was about the contest between two massive and competing pipeline projects for supplying natural gas to Europe—the American-sponsored Nabuco pipeline and the Russian-sponsored South Stream. Both projects were eventually cancelled, mostly for political reasons.

One thing that became fairly evident to me during my research is that there are longstanding and powerful interests in the United States who have NO interest in peaceful cooperation with Russia, because it would imperil their extremely profitable industries. Peaceful cooperation with Russia would challenge America’s bloated defense budget ($886 billion this year). Another American industrial enterprise that would be inconceivable in the event of peace with Russia is Liquified Natural Gas production and shipping to Europe. As I predicted years ago, the simmering conflict between Russia and Ukraine would—if it came to war—be a huge boon to U.S. LNG interests. My prediction has come true. The industry is now booming and new terminals are under construction.

JUL 1, 2023 – Let me begin this article with an AP Fact Check. According to the AP (A Bill Gates-tied mosquito project is not responsible for recent US malaria cases | AP News) the cases of malaria that have recently popped up in the United States were NOT related to Bill Gates, his funding of “mosquito research” related disease prevention (Gates-Funded World Mosquito Program Engages in Gain-of-Function Research – The American Spectator | USA News and Politics), or Oxitec’s (another Gates supported company) release of genetically modified mosquitoes for the past several years in Florida where the outbreaks occurred (see the previous two articles). The AP has noted that the Gates foundation does fund malaria work and GMO mosquitoes but states it’s funding for Oxitec’s genetically altered mosquitoes that are being released in Florida (where those mosquitoes are released) does not include any modifications related to malaria and so they could not be the cause.

 

The Controlled Demolition of Nation-States   By J.B. Shurk

June 29, 2023  – Generally speaking, central banks are empowered to control the supply of money by employing a number of tools that include buying government debt, selling government bonds, adjusting reserve requirements, and setting official interest rates.  Operating under various legal mandates to sustain an overall healthy economy, central banks ostensibly pursue policies that will produce relatively low inflation, steady economic growth, and low public unemployment.

What if these stated goals are merely talking points meant to justify a central bank’s continued monopoly over a nation’s creation of money, and the true objective of any central bank is to maximize wealth for the wealthiest economic players?  Central banks, after all, are usually institutionally independent from government interference.  They are private firms managed by the world’s financial elite.  How might a central bank pursue a hidden agenda to grow the wealth of its friends at the public’s expense?

The easiest and most effective way would be to create artificial “boom and bust” cycles during which economies greatly expand and then quickly shrink.  How does this work in practice?  First, a central bank lowers interest rates — the cost of borrowing money — and thereby encourages ordinary citizens to take out loans.  These loans are used to buy houses and cars and start small businesses.  By artificially lowering interest rates below the natural market rate, central banks stimulate consumer purchases and small business expenditures beyond what Adam Smith’s “invisible hand” would have rendered on its own.  Investors who have an economic interest in selling houses, cars, and inventories for small businesses all benefit from the central bank’s intervention.

Additionally, because central banks have encouraged borrowing, they have pumped more money into the greater economy.  With the supply of money artificially increased, some individuals are willing to pay more now than before for the same goods or services.  Consequently, the prices of goods and services increase, producing inflation.  There are two important effects stemming from inflation: (1) a middle-class citizen on a fixed income must now pay more for living expenses, while (2) a higher-class citizen who owns stocks, homes, and other assets will see the currency-denominated value of those assets increase.  In other words, inflation acts as a tax on poorer individuals who own little and a supplement for wealthier individuals who own much.  While a middle-class citizen living paycheck-to-paycheck will effectively have less income, a higher-class citizen whose principal wealth exists in the form of assets will have increased net wealth.  Inflation effects a wealth transfer from the poor to the rich.
