3. Pope Benedict Told the Grim Truth about Islam by Raymond Ibrahim 01/16/2023
“Show me just what Mohammed brought that was new, and there you will find things only evil and inhuman, such as his command to spread by the sword the faith he preached.”
In certain respects, this is the sentence that Pope Benedict XVI will be most remembered for. And while those who cite it do so to disparage and dishonor his memory—to portray him as an “Islamophobe”—that notorious assertion is of profound significance, and in more ways than one.
Pope Benedict read the above assertion on Sept. 12, 2006, during his Regensburg address on faith and reason. He was quoting Eastern Roman (or “Byzantine”) Emperor Manuel II Palaiologos (b. 1350-1425). An erudite and pious man, Manuel knew much about Islam, both abstractly and experientially.
In 1390, Manuel’s father, John V, submitted to becoming a vassal to, and sent his son, Manuel, as a hostage of, the Ottoman sultan, Bayezid I (1360-1403), whom the contemporary chronicler Doukas described as
a feared man, precipitate in deeds of war, a persecutor of Christians as no other around him, and in the religion of the Arabs [Islam] a most ardent disciple of Muhammad, whose unlawful commandments were observed to the utmost, never sleeping, spending his nights contriving intrigues and machinations against the rational flock of Christ. . . . His purpose was to increase the nation of the Prophet and to decrease that of the Romans. Many cities and provinces did he add to the dominion of the Muslims.
Unsurprisingly, the sultan never seemed to miss an opportunity to humiliate the heir apparent of Constantinople. Bayezid even sadistically forced Manuel to accompany the Turks and witness the final destruction of Philadelphia, the last Christian bastion in Asia Minor. The “sight of destroyed Christian cities” produced much “intense suffering” and even “sickened” the prince, writes one historian.

Inspired by tales of Islamic State fighters decapitating Infidels, she immediately set out with two classmates from school to join the paradise on earth being created by her Muslim soul mates in the Islamic State. She later told a British journalist that she had no qualms or doubts about that practice of decapitating enemies; it was a matter, she said, “of Islam.” A week after she arrived in Islamic State territory, she married an ISIS fighter and had the first of three children she was to have by her ISIS husband. All three died in childbirth. 1. Hamas-linked CAIR supports ritual animal sacrifice in Hamtramck, Michigan By Josh Beckett
JAN 14, 2023 11:00 AM – There were three separate TV newscasts about the city of Hamtramck, Michigan passing an ordinance permitting the ritual slaughter of animals at private residences. All three of these news reports included a statement from the Director of Safe Spaces for the Michigan chapter of the Hamas-linked Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), Nour Ali.
The new ordinance allows for the slaughter of animals at people’s homes, provided the city is notified in advance and a follow-up health inspection is scheduled.
CAIR is in favor of ritual slaughter in private homes. Here is what that looks like elsewhere in the world.
Of course, the TV stations involved in this story about the new ordinance have a history of promoting and enabling CAIR.
[Ed.: Lemme get this straight. So now, if there is majority Moslem city in the US, they can pass Sharia ordinances, like kill all infidels, for example, or kill all Jews? Now animals can kill US citizens by city ordinance! Oh, NICE! ]
