Israel is ‘prepared for very strong action’ at Lebanon border: Netanyahu    By Ronny Reyes

June 5, 2024, 1:35 p.m. ET – Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu warned that Israel was “prepared for very strong action” against Hezbollah terrorists as tensions escalate along the northern Lebanon border.

Speaking at the border on Wednesday, Netanyahu addressed the escalating attacks between the Israel Defense Forces and Iran-backed Hezbollah, which began nearly eight months ago when the terrorists fired rockets at the Jewish state in solidarity with Hamas.

“Whoever thinks that they can harm us and we will sit idly by is making a big mistake,” Netanyahu said.  “We are prepared for a very strong action in the north.

“In one way or another we will restore security to the north,” he added.

‘Har Habayit Beyadenu’ – The Temple Mount is in our hands!   Dr. Alex Grobman

The League of Nations Mandate did not grant the Jewish people the rights to establish a national home in Palestine, it simply recognized a pre-existing right that had never been surrendered or forgotten. Israel realized that right in1948 and 1967.

May 31, 2019, 12:47 PM (GMT+3) – Meyer Weisgal, the personal assistant of Chaim Weizmann, Israel’s first president, and principal architect of the Weizmann Institute of Science, was often asked why the Jews decided to return to their ancestral home, the land of Israel. Before and even after the establishment of the state, someone would inevitably inquire “Why here?”

Given their vast innovative ingenuity, why hadn’t the Jews immigrated to Uganda or Argentina where there was enough uninhabited land to have made the areas prosper? Why pick Palestine (a name referring to the name given the geographic area by Rome, instead of the original Judea) and Jerusalem?  In these countries there wouldn’t have been any hostile Arabs to contend with, they opined.

In March 1968, J. B. Priestley, an English novelist, playwright and broadcaster, asked Weisgal the same question. Weisgal told Priestley about a cartoon in the Israeli press by the cartoonist Dosh showing  Yisrolik, a little guy with a cap, who had become a symbol of the young state, explaining to King Hussein of Jordan how he might get back parts of Jerusalem. “Do what we did,” he told the king. “Say over and over again for two thousand years’ Next year in Jerusalem.’”

The phrase Next Year in Jerusalem “has been the umbilical cord which has tied the Jews of the world to the land of Israel for two thousand years,” Weisgal explained. “Jewish religious ritual and liturgy and biblical, medieval and modern literature is pervaded with longing for Zion. Agricultural and meteorological conditions in Israel are also a fundamental part of this identification.

During January, when the cities in the Northeast might be covered with snow, Jewish children plant saplings because in Israel, it is the New Year of the Trees, when the almonds blossom for the first time.  Even though the streets might be soaked from torrential rains in October, Jews pray that it should rain in Israel. The harvest has ended and the fields are parched. No other space on earth arouses such fervor and passion among the Jews, and infinite sacrifice to bring back the land to life.  [1]

When the Jews began to rebuild the land, they found the Valley of Jezreel infested with malaria. Today it is the agricultural heartland of the country. Reclamation cost the lives of hundreds of Jewish pioneers. No one forced them to engage in this dangerous work, yet they did so because it was their land. (Ibid)

Observant Jews believed that simply by inhabiting the land, they were guaranteed a place in the world to come, while anyone who permanently left “is like a man who has no G-d.” [2[

On the 28th day of the Hebrew month of Iyar (Sunday, June 2 this year, but June 7 in 1967) Israeli paratroopers captured the Western Wall in the Old City of Jerusalem, the portion of the Western supporting wall of the Temple Mount that remained since the destruction of the Second Temple (70 C.E.)  When they reached the Wall, many of the secular soldiers who were not observant were overcome with emotion. One soldier remembered looking around at the officers and the other soldiers:

“I saw their tears, their wordless prayers, and I knew they felt as I did: a deep feeling for the Temple Mount… a love for the Wall on whose stones so many generations have wept. I understood that it wasn’t only I and my religious friends who sensed its greatness and sanctity; others felt it too, no less deeply and strongly.”

Oct. 7th Massacre: Preliminary investigation to be presented next month

In early July, IDF investigation teams will begin presenting their findings to General Halevi in a process that will take between six and eight weeks.

Jun 5, 2024, 5:57 PM (GMT+3)  Israel National News – The IDF’s investigative teams to examine the failures, perceptions, and events that preceded Hamas’s attack on the communities of the Gaza Strip on October 7 will be presented to Chief of Staff Herzi Halevi in the first week of July. The findings will be presented for six to eight weeks by the investigation teams, depending on the progress of the fighting.

In early July, the IDF will also present the investigation of the shooting of hostages in Kibbutz Be’eri, in which 12 people were killed, after a tank fired shells into the dining hall building at the order of Brigadier General Barak Hiram, commander of the 99th Brigade. The investigation is led by Major General Miki Edelstein.

The first line of inquiry focuses on “the development of the concept of Gaza” – with emphasis on the border fence and the characteristics of the defense from 2018. It is believed that a five-year review will provide sufficient information to understand the processes that led to the largest security failure in the history of the state.

In this context, the development of the intelligence and the concept against Hamas will be examined, the examination of the elements of the defense and the range of operational plans prepared in the army against the threats emanating from the Gaza Strip. In the IDF, it was explained that it was decided to deal first with this issue out of the understanding that it is one of the main factors that led to the formation of concepts that influenced the assessments of the situation and the use of force in the Gaza Strip, including the plans that were formulated before October 7.

In parallel, the Chief of Staff will also be presented with battlefield inquiries in the communities and kibbutzim. The IDF said that the order of presentation was determined according to the level of maturity and readiness of the investigation as it is a complex investigation involving many parties: IDF soldiers, members of the civilian security squads, residents, families of the hostages and the fallen.

The army is investigating about 40 battlefields in communities using 20 investigation teams, headed by senior officers from the rank of colonel to brigadier general. The Chief of Staff will be presented with preliminary findings from the events of the night between October 6 and 7, the nightly situation assessments, the abnormal events identified, and the failure to prevent the invasion of the communities in the Gaza Strip despite the understanding that something unusual was taking place, which led to a nighttime consultation between senior officials.

The IDF says that the aim is to complete the presentation of the inquiries by the end of August, but since the army is in the midst of a war, changes may be made. It was also stressed that the inquiry process is internal, designed for learning and drawing lessons for the continuation of the war and for the next campaign, and is not a substitute for an external examination mechanism such as a state commission of inquiry.

Some of the inquiries will also include personal recommendations against officers and commanders in the IDF.

House passes sanctions on ICC over pursuit of Netanyahu arrest warrants, supported by 42 Dems   By Ben Whedon

42 Democrats joined most Republicans in the 247-155 vote

June 4, 2024 5:42pm  Just The News – The House of Representatives on Tuesday approved legislation to sanction the International Criminal Court in response to its pursuit of arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

“This bill is a message to the world that we will not sit by and watch a globalist ‘court’ interfere with Israel’s right to defend itself,” said Florida GOP Rep. Brian Mast, who authored the bill. “There are still six Americans held captive by Hamas in Gaza and we must support Israel in its fight to bring them home.”

Forty-two Democrats joined most Republicans in the 247-155 vote, Politico reported. A further two Republicans abstained. The legislation does not have the support of the Biden administration, which has said that “[t]here are more effective ways to defend Israel, preserve U.S. positions on the ICC, and promote international justice and accountability,” according to Fox News.

The chief prosecutor of the ICC last month announced he would seek arrest warrants for Netanyahu and various Israeli and Hamas leaders in connection with the ongoing conflict.

OBSCENE BETRAYAL: Biden Took Hamas’s Conditions for Ceasefire and Presented it As Israel’s Offer Without Talking to Netanyahu About It     By Pamela Geller

June 4, 2024 – Netanyahu: “The claims that we have agreed to a ceasefire without our conditions being met are incorrect.”

Biden’s description of cease-fire offer ‘not accurate,’ Israeli official tells NBC News.

In his first public comments on the speech, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said President Joe Biden had published only a partial version of the Israeli proposal.

Netanyahu says war won’t end unless Hamas is destroyed.

By Raf Sanchez, Yuliya Talmazan and Monica Alba, NBC News, June 3, 2024,:

JERUSALEM — President Joe Biden’s description of Israel’s cease-fire proposal was “not accurate,” a senior Israeli official has told NBC News, as doubts grew Monday over the U.S. ally’s stance on the deal.

Biden said in a surprise announcement Friday that he was outlining a truce proposal that had been made by Israel and passed by mediators to Hamas.

But the official called into question Biden’s description of the cease-fire offer as Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu — facing competing pressures from Washington and families of hostages on one side and right-wing ministers threatening to bring down his government on the other — said that Biden had put forward only a partial version of the Israeli proposal.

The official specifically disputed that Israel had agreed to fully withdraw its troops from the Gaza Strip as part of a deal to free the 125 or so hostages remaining in captivity there.

Smotrich: The new concept led by the War Cabinet is exploding in our faces

Finance Minister comments on the fires that are raging in the north: A year ago there was a defense minister who said we would return Lebanon to the Stone Age. The time has come.

Jun 4, 2024, 1:57 AM (GMT+3)  Israel National News – Finance Minister and Security Cabinet member Bezalel Smotrich commented on Monday night on the fires that are raging in the north.

“Just a few hours ago I warned that the situation in the north is deteriorating and the security belt must move from Israel to southern Lebanon. The new concept led by the War Cabinet has been going up in flames for hours and is exploding in our faces,” Smotrich said.

“A year ago there was a defense minister who said we would return Lebanon to the Stone Age. Mr. Prime Minister, Mr. Defense Minister, Mr. Chief of Staff – the time has come,” he added.

His comments came as fires raged in the north caused by rocket debris and direct hits, and exacerbated by the hot and dry weather.

13 teams of firefighters are deployed throughout the city of Kiryat Shmona and are protecting the homes in the neighborhoods. The spokesman for the city of Kiryat Shmona stated that, due to the severe fires around the city, several residents who remained in the city have been evacuated from their homes.

National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir responded, “What is happening now in the north is moral bankruptcy. Reckless management by the Concept Cabinet, a direct continuation of the policy of containment and proportionality, a policy that directly led to October 7. Instead of bowing down to Hamas, it is time for all of Lebanon to burn.”

Opposition leader Yair Lapid said, “The north is going up in flames and Israeli deterrence is burning with it. The government has no plan for the day after in Gaza, no plan to return the residents to the north, no management, no strategy. A fully reckless government.”

Security forces destroy homes near memorial to fallen soldier  [VIDEOS]   Hezki Baruch

Security forces began to demolish buildings in Havat Yair built near a lookout dedicated to the memory of Motti Shamir, who fell in defense of Re’im on October 7th.

Jun 4, 2024, 2:37 PM (GMT+3) – Security forces came on Tuesday to evict and demolish buildings in Havat Yair in Samaria near a lookout that was built in memory of Motti Shamir, who fell in defense of Re’im on October 7th.

The buildings were constructed on “survey lands” intended to be classified as state land and are in the community’s future planning zone. The lookout itself will not be demolished.

Minister Bezalel Smotrich. who oversees the Civil Administration, did not approve the demolition. However, the defense establishment overcame that detail by issuing an opinion justifying the demolition for security reasons. This in turn transferred the authority over the demolition to Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, who authorized it.

The Samaria Regional Council emphasized that at the site where the neighborhood was built, terrorists had in the past opened fire and threw burning toward Havat Yair in an attempt to burn the brush and cause a fire in the village. Since families began living there, the terror attacks on the village stopped.

Amichai Eitam, the Chairman of the Havat Yair Local Council, stated: “We truly believe that the people of Israel are right and we will continue to strengthen the settlement of the land, the security of the village residents, and the memory of the heroes of Israel.”

Motti Shamir (30), who was in the middle of his military-sponsored studies after serving as a company commander, rushed from his home in Havat Yair to protect the communities in the Gaza envelope. He managed to fight in several battles and protect Kibbutz Re’im but fell while evacuating the wounded.

Due to the demolition, the Knesset Subcommittee for Judea and Samaria Issues Chairman MK Tzvi Succot (Religious Zionism) called will convene an emergency session of the committee to examine the opinion issued by the defense establishment to allow for the demolition.

Judge orders release of Arab infiltrator ‘because the war has calmed down a bit’

Lod District Court Judge Efrat Fink ruled that the resident of PA territory who infiltrated Israel should be released from detention since she had a work permit in the past and since the war is less intense.

Jun 4, 2024, 12:05 PM (GMT+3)  Israel National News – Lod District Court Judge Efrat Fink ordered the release of an Arab resident of PA-controlled territories, who infiltrated Israeli territory, since “the war has calmed down a bit.”

Fink wrote in her decision: “Yes, since the war broke out on October 7th, 2023, there has been a change regarding requests to detain those who are in Israel illegally, with the courts beginning to give danger considerable weight in the reason for detention, even though the crime was only illegal infiltration.”

Among other reasonings, Fink ruled that the infiltrator should be released since in the past, before October 7th, she passed the “security filter” and was granted a work permit – this even though the state emphasized to the judge that the infiltrator did not pass the more stringent “security filter” instituted since the war began.

The judge added that the infiltrator should be released because of the current intensity of the war in the South: “Requests for detention until the end of proceedings that were submitted shortly after the outbreak of the war and during the height of the war in October onward are not the same as this Requests for detention until the end of proceedings which was submitted now, while the war has calmed down a bit.”

Lebanese report: Israel to declare war in the near future

British sources believe Israel will attack Lebanon in mid-June, report says.

Jun 4, 2024, 10:00 AM (GMT+3)  Israel National News – The Lebanese Al Akhbar newspaper, which is affiliated with the Hezbollah terror group, on Tuesday morning reported that in recent days, a number of diplomatic messages have arrived in Beirut, containing warnings regarding an impending war with Israel.

Hezbollah has been launching both missiles and UAVs at northern Israel since October 7, 2023, and Israel has responded by retaliated in a precise and controlled fashion, targeting Hezbollah military infrastructure and senior terrorists.

Sources told Al Akhbar that most representatives of international delegations have expressed concern at the severity of the Israeli threat, but the most significant messages come from the British, who estimate that Israel will attack mid-June. The British also advised preparing for a war of unknown scope or length.

Former Lebanese minister Walid Jumblatt said that during his most recent visit to Qatar he heard concerns regarding Israel’s intentions in Lebanon. Qatari officials expressed worry that Israel is not interested in a ceasefire in Gaza, despite the US efforts to achieve one.

Al Akhbar also reported that prior to US President Joe Biden’s speech announcing his proposal for a ceasefire deal, Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri received a phone call from US adviser Amos Hochstein.

The phone call lasted 40 minutes, and during it, Hochstein explained that “the Biden administration is insisting on completion of negotiations for a solution on the southern front (Lebanon-Israel) and is working to achieve calm in Gaza. When this happens, then we will begin holding negotiations regarding the points which we do not agree upon (on the land border between Israel and Lebanon).”

According to sources, Hochstein’s optimism disappeared following the Israeli government’s response to Biden’s proposal.

After more than nine hours: Fires in Kiryat Shmona region under control; 16 injured  [VIDEOS]

Falling rocket debris and strikes from UAVs that were not intercepted caused large fires in significant areas of northern Israel. Civilians evacuated. Six reservists and five civilians injured.

Jun 4, 2024, 9:34 AM  Israel National News – After more than nine hours, firefighters were able early Tuesday morning to gain control of the fire that broke out near Amiad in northern Israel.

18 teams of firefighters from the northern, coastal and central districts worked to gain control of the fire, alongside forces from the Israel Defense Forces, KKL-JNF, the IDF and the Israel Police.

The firefighters also gained control of the fires in Kiryat Shmona and Kfar Giladi. Four teams are still working to control the fire in the Naftali Ridge.

The fires were caused as a result of dozens of launches from Lebanon. The firefighting teams had been working since Monday afternoon on the fires that broke out in the area due to rocket debris and direct hits, exacerbated by the hot and dry weather.

On Monday afternoon, about 30 launches were identified crossing from Lebanon towards northern Golan Heights and fell in open areas. Additionally, air defense soldiers intercepted an unmanned aircraft carrying explosives that crossed from Lebanon near the Naftali Ridge area.

However, another explosive drone that crossed from Lebanon was not intercepted and fell in the area. Simultaneously, an explosive drone that crossed from Lebanon fell in the Metula area.

A short time later, another alert was activated in the north of the country, during which an interceptor was launched towards a suspicious aerial target that crossed into Israeli territory from Lebanon. The incident ended with no casualties.

The Upper Galilee Regional Council updated that several fires that were extinguished yesterday in the Ramim Ridge and Naftali Ridge areas have reignited in recent hours. Additionally, a fire broke out in northern Golan Heights as a result of rockets striking open fields. Due to the numerous fire focal points, severe air pollution is noticeable throughout the area.

Israeli security sources: Smotrich using his office to bring down Palestinian Authority   Hezki Baruch

‘With a command echelon who grew up on the knees of the Oslo Accords, and simply refuses to wake up, we can never win,’ Finance Min. Smotrich accuses.

Jun 4, 2024, 2:37 PM (GMT+3) – Sources in Israel’s defense echelon slammed Finance MInister Bezalel Smotrich for toppling the Palestinian Authority, noting that he is leading a process which will defund it.

Speaking with Ynet, the security sources said that Smotrich’s economic sanctions mainly hurt Palestinian Authority officials and security personnel, who the sources claim prevent terror attacks. This is due in large part to the Palestinian Authority’s decision to prioritize terrorists’ salaries over those of its employees.

“There is an Israeli interest in preserving the moderates and preventing the extremists from taking control of the area,” they claimed.

Smotrich responded: “Those ‘security sources,’ who have done everything they can for years to prevent the IDF from entering Gaza and destroying Hamas, who are responsible for the most horrific military failure that happened to the Jewish nation since the Holocaust, and who have been lackadaisical about managing the war since then, are threatening anyone who dares to challenge their atrophied thinking and to think outside of the box.”

“This is the entire concept. You have to be a huge defeatist to ask to support the Palestinian Authority, which supports terror and wages diplomatic and legal warfare against Israel and aims for the issue of arrest warrants against its Prime Minister and Defense Minister – just like those who wanted to evacuate Gush Katif, retreat from Lebanon, and advance the creation of a terror state in the heart of Israel.”

Smotrich added, “Defeatism which cost us in too many lives, ‘sacrifices of peace,’ and October 7, were not enough for them to wake up, and they continue and even now are trying to sell us that we can’t win and that ‘there is no military solution to terror.'”

“It does not matter how many articles they have initiated, I will never accept their desire to create a Palestinian terror state which will threaten the security of the entire State of Israel, and I will do everything to prevent it. With a command echelon who grew up on the knees of Oslo [Accords] and simply refuses to wake up, we can never win. It’s time for a change.”

Ambassador David Friedman Announces New Movement, One Jewish State    ADAM ELIYAHU BERKOWITZ

“On that day Hashem made a covenant with Avram, saying, “To your offspring I assign this land, from the river of Egypt to the great river, the river Euphrates:”    GENESIS 15:18   (THE ISRAEL BIBLE)

JUNE 3, 2024 – David Friedman, former US Ambassador to Israel presented his ‘One Jewish State movement,’ yesterday in Manhattan at a news conference. Friedman elaborated on ‘One Jewish State’ (1JP), which firmly opposes a two-state solution and advocates for a single Jewish state encompassing all of Israel, including Judea and Samaria.

Friedman criticized the recent advocacy for a two-state solution by President Joe Biden, labeling it as “tone-deaf” and unsuitable, especially in light of the events of October 7th. He pointed to the situation in Gaza as a cautionary example, where significant financial aid and resources have led to peace but rather were hijacked for the construction of terror tunnels and acquisition of weapons. “Anyone who’s looking at this today has to understand that there can not, under any circumstances, be a two-state solution, and we have to fight it,” he asserted.

As an alternative, Friedman proposed that the United States help Israel become more comfortable with extending its sovereignty over Judea and Samaria. At the Jerusalem Conference hosted by Arutz Sheva-Israel National News, Friedman explained the vision behind ‘One Jewish State’ (1JP) of complete Israeli sovereignty and emphasized that this solution should apply to the entire area, not just Area C, suggesting that this approach could appeal to various political and ideological groups.

“You can support this if you’re on the right because you’re happy about sovereignty; you can support this on the left if you think that Palestinians should have a better life,” he said. “You can support this if you’re secular because you just see it as the only way that Israel will ever have security; or you can support this if you’re religious and you think that this is the land given by God to the Jewish people, as I do.”

Friedman also commented on the undue pressure from the Biden administration on Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu regarding a proposed deal with Hamas. He criticized the timing and nature of the announcement of the proposal, which he claims misrepresented Israel’s stance and increased pressure on Netanyahu. Friedman emphasized that maximum pressure on Hamas is essential to secure the release of hostages.

According to Friedman, “The pressure Biden is putting on Netanyahu right now is extraordinary. I think that what he did on Friday was announce an Israeli proposal at a time when it was Shabbat in Israel. Netanyahu wasn’t even supposed to respond to it, forcing Israel to respond after it was already Shabbat.

“A proposal that Israel never made, or certainly leaving out, the critical piece of it, which is that Hamas will be destroyed. I think the pressure is tremendous, and I think that Netanyahu is being confronted also by America and others with this false choice that you can either deal with the war or free the hostages, but not both. And I’ve never understood that conflict, especially when dealing with Hamas.”

This is what one day [today] in the north looks [looked] like: 12 hours of continuous fire.   Israeli Journalist Almog Boker:

“Take a look at this list:

Now, look at this list again and think about what would happen if instead of Kela, Sha’al, and Katzrin, it said Tel Aviv, Ramat Gan, Ramat Hasharon.

We cannot continue to accept this constant fire at northern communities as a lesser evil; we cannot keep residents out of their homes for eight months. Katzrin should be treated like Tel Aviv. It’s time to act.

It’s time to send a clear and unequivocal message to Hezbollah.

It’s time for Nasrallah to understand that he is a target, just like Sinwar.”

⚠️ LEBANESE CITIZENS RECEIVE WAR INSTRUCTIONS.. “We are on the way to a major escalation, we ask you to cooperate with the authorities.. Prepare an emergency bag containing water, food, essential medicines, identification documents and first aid equipment…”

▪️COMPLETE ISRAELI FAILURE IN MORALE, MOMENTUM, and INTIMIDATION..

(( Commentary ))  While the north is burning and children are running for their lives, the IDF puts out “the IDF conducted an exercise in General Staff command centers to enhance readiness for a campaign in the northern arena.”    While covering our heads lying on the ground, while Katzrin is burning to the ground and Kiryat Shmona is being destroyed – this is supposed to give us a feeling of safety.

The IDF and Israeli government is completely failing at managing national morale, keeps losing war momentum by pausing to.. well we don’t know what, hold talks?  Political considerations?  And let the enemy re-arm, rest, learn and plan?

Intimidation of our enemy?  Ha!  They’re watching the Kaplan protests, the High Court prepare to tear the country apart, and our political class at each other’s throats.  Israel’s attempt to be intimidating is to fly low over Lebanese cities and break windows by breaking the sound barrier.  Oh no!

G-d help us, because our leaders aren’t.

▪️HEZBOLLAH ACTION ANALYSIS.. Shia axis analysts involved in the military estimate Hezbollah is trying to damage the Israeli air defense systems and “exhaust” them under the assumption that Israel will soon carry out an extensive attack in Lebanon. The damage to Israel’s air defense systems will, in their view, reduce Israel’s ability to defend itself in the face of a large response from Hezbollah to such an attack.

▪️HIGH COURT CASE.. today’s society breaking event: the court case over charedi draft to the army.

(Amit Segal analysis) Don’t be stressed: the orders (to force recruiting) will become final, the verdict will be unanimous or almost unanimous, and the only question will be what the order is for the IDF and how much to recruit.

(Our analysis) As the govt attorney noted in his statement to the court, you can’t drag people kicking and screaming into the army.  You can drag a few, but you are not going to get effective soldiers and you are going to get ongoing large protests.

You can sanction and further alienate this segment of society, but you can’t force people who are willing to sit in jail.  And in the process you will lose the 40% who have been participating.

.. Demonstrators against ultra-Orthodox recruitment blocked Highway 4 in the Bnei Brak area and blockades also in front of the Supreme Court in Jerusalem.

▪️AID MEETING (Egypt, Israel, US)..  regarding the Rafah crossing: new Egyptian demand according to which Israel withdraws from the entire nearby area, avoids any involvement in the crossing and Egyptian-Palestinian coordination takes place. Israel: no.

Jun 1, 2024, 10:03 PM (GMT+3) – A survey conducted among 1001 Israelis reveals that a majority of the Israeli public supports the war or claims that “the Israeli response did not go far enough.”

Fewer people believe in the two-state solution and in US President Biden. The survey results were published recently, but the survey itself was conducted at the end of March and the beginning of April, before recent developments. Thirty-nine (39) percent of Israelis who participated in the survey claimed that, “Israel’s military response against Hamas in Gaza was appropriate,” while 34 percent claimed that it “did not go far enough.”

Another 19 percent considered the “response to be excessive.” Participants were asked whether they believe Israel will achieve the war’s objectives; 27 percent answered “probably” while 40 percent were sure that Israel will achieve the objectives it set for itself. Most Israelis, 61 percent, also expressed concern that the war might spread to other fronts.

Fully 40 percent of respondents said that “Israel should control the Gaza Strip after the war,” while only 14 percent believed that “Gaza’s residents should decide who will control” the area.

Only 6 percent would like to see the Palestinian Authority under Mahmoud Abbas’ control in Gaza, while 12 percent would prefer to see the Palestinian Authority but without Abbas. Last year, 35 percent of Israelis who participated in a similar survey said they supported a Palestinian state. In the current survey, only 26 percent said they still support it.

The survey also examined what Israeli citizens think of US President Joe Biden’s policy towards the war. A majority – 60 – percent of Israelis said they disapprove of Biden’s handling of the war, while 41 percent believed that Biden finds the right balance between Israelis and Palestinians. When asked, “Do you trust Biden to correctly manage global affairs?” there was a 10 percent decline among Israelis who said yes, compared to last year.

However, 74 percent of Israeli Arabs claimed that “the Israeli response went too far,” while only 3 percent claimed that “Israel should control Gaza after the war.”

Netanyahu issues statement saying there cannot be permanent ceasefire until Hamas destroyed

‘Israel’s conditions for ending the war have not changed: The destruction of Hamas military and governing capabilities, freeing all hostages, and ensuring that Gaza no longer poses a threat to Israel’

June 01, 2024 at 06:54 AM  i24NEWS – Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Saturday issued a statement saying there will be no permanent ceasefire in Gaza until Hamas’s military and governing capabilities are destroyed. This is Netanyahu’s second statement since US President Joe Biden put forward what he described as an Israeli proposal, laying out a three-phase deal for a ceasefire in Gaza in exchange for Hamas releasing the Israeli hostages.

“Israel’s conditions for ending the war have not changed: The destruction of Hamas military and governing capabilities, the freeing of all hostages, and ensuring that Gaza no longer poses a threat to Israel,” the statement read.

“Israel will continue to insist these conditions are met before a permanent ceasefire is put in place. The notion that Israel will agree to a permanent ceasefire before these conditions are fulfilled is a non-starter.”
