IDF rescues Hamas hostage and father of 11 by chance after finding him alone in Gaza tunnel   By Olivia Land

Aug. 27, 2024, 8:35 a.m. ET   New York Post – An Israeli hostage being held by Hamas was rescued by special forces after they encountered him alone in a tunnel beneath southern Gaza by chance Tuesday, officials and reports said.

Qaid Farhan Alkadi, 52, who was kidnapped by the terror group on Oct. 7, was found in a tunnel in Mahrat during a “complex rescue operation,” according to the IDF.

The elite 13th Fleet found Alkadi – a father of 11 from the Bedouin Arab community –  by chance in a room about 25 yards underground, two senior Israeli officials told the New York Times.

He was by himself without guards, the officials said. The Israeli military is still trying to piece together why he was seemingly abandoned by his captors.

The first image of Alkadi post-rescue showed him seated in a hospital gown alongside a grinning relative.

Alkadi’s family was seen running toward him for an emotional reunion at the Soroka Medical Center in Beersheba following the rescue, a video shared by N12 showed.

“I can’t explain this feeling, it’s better even than the arrival of a new baby,” one of Alkadi’s brothers gushed.

“Thank God, we are thankful to everyone and we hope to see him soon healthy. We’re so happy, very happy to get this news.”

Alkadi appeared to be in good health, the IDF said. He is undergoing further tests at the hospital.

The military declined to disclose further details about the rescue, citing concerns for the security of the remaining hostages and the special forces.

Alkadi was taken by Hamas from Mivtahim, near where he worked as a guard at a packing factory in Kibbutz Magen, the Times of Israel reported.

He came from the Bedouin community near Rahat, in southern Israel, the outlet said.

Report: Gaza terror groups planned coup against Sinwar

Hamas last living hostages are being used as Yahya Sinwar’s human shields, as Gaza’s other terror groups plan coup, the Jewish Chronicle reports.

Aug 28, 2024, 3:08 PM (GMT+3)  Israel National News – The Hamas terror group is losing control of Gaza’s smaller terror groups, the Jewish Chronicle reported Wednesday, citing Israeli military sources.

The report noted that some of the smallest organizations, such as the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP), the Mujahideen Brigades, the al-Nasser Salah al-Deen Brigades, and the al-Aqsa Martyrs’ Brigades, have “cut off” and no longer heed Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar’s instructions, These groups hold an unknown number of hostages.

Only about 20 living hostages are held by Hamas, while the other terror groups hold the remaining hostages.

According to the Chronicle, 22 handcuffed hostages are still believed to be alive – out of 108 still in Gaza – and those hostages are being forced into service as Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar’s human shields.

Israel has also had multiple opportunities to eliminate Sinwar – but the orders to do so were not given due to the risk to the hostages who surround him.

Last week, reports said that Sinwar is demanding that his life and safety be assured as part of any ceasefire-hostage swap deal.

The Jewish Chronicle also reported that the smaller Gaza terror groups have been planning a coup for months, due to their deep disagreements with Sinwar over the proposed ceasefire-prisoner swap deal.

Among the disagreements is Hamas’ insistence on prioritizing their own terrorists’ release above that of the other terror groups’ members, and the groups’ demand for fair representation in the deal.

The smaller groups also oppose any compromises with Israel, insisting that any deal include the release of all convicted terrorists currently serving time in Israeli prisons; they also reject the Israeli proposal that terrorists released in the deal be deported.

Arrested soldier at Sde Teiman: ‘The State betrayed us; it’s an extreme affront’

Following outrage at Sde Teiman arrests, due to suspected abuse of a terrorist, Meir Ben Shetrit clarifies that while conducting body searches ‘we do not take off anyone’s clothes.’

Aug 28, 2024, 9:17 AM (GMT+3)  Israel National News – Meir Ben Shetrit, who was arrested at the Sde Teiman base on suspicion of abusing a terrorist, spoke to Channel 14 about searches conducted by Force 100 soldiers on terrorists in prison, as well as the IDF’s attitude towards the soldiers in this case.

“We don’t take off the terrorists’ clothes,” Ben Shetrit stated. “Someone was looking to ruin our reputation, just like the Nukhba terrorists did. I believe that this is an attempt to stop the war.”

Channel 12 broadcast an doctored and spliced film which only showed a terrorist being put in a screened off area by soldiers but went viral. How the channel was in possession of a film that could only come from the Prosecutor’s Office has not been publicized.

Ben Shetrit said that the force is responsible for restraining the terrorists who riot or sexually harass Military Police soldiers. “We are a deterrent force, we don’t guard the Nukhba terrorists. We come with our dogs, with stun grenades and tear gas.”

He said he was speaking to the Chief Military Prosecutor and the staff in her office: “You should kiss our hands. You should see what holy work we are doing. You should kiss the hands of Force 100, for the fact that we restrained ourselves, that we did not aim our guns and shoot them on the ground.”  [Emphasis added]

He said: “We are a state of law. We don’t do things like that. We stayed moral, all the time.” According to Ben Shetrit, the State betrayed them. “It is an extreme affront,” he concluded.

CIA Reveals Hezbollah’s Deadly Military Capabilities

Aug 27, 2024 @ 10:38 pm ET  JBN News – For nearly 11 months, Hezbollah has been unleashing a continuous barrage of rockets towards Israel. Most recently, the Iranian-backed terror organization launched over 100 missiles in retaliation for the assassination of a top commander. Although nearly all of the rockets were intercepted, it could have been much worse had the IDF not preemptively knocked out approximately 6,000 launchers.

Gone are the days of 2006 when the terror outfit’s inventory only included unguided Katyusha rockets. A new report by the CIA’s World Factbook reveals the chilling amount of weaponry and soldiers Hezbollah is said to possess.

In Hezbollah’s possession are approximately 150,000 precision-guided missiles, advanced drones, and anti-tank, anti-aircraft, and anti-ship missiles. Many of their weapons are sourced from Iran, Russia, and China. Some of the more dangerous ones include the Burkan Volcano missiles, which have an explosive payload of 300-500 kg, and the al-Mas which can hit targets beyond the line of sight. Hezbollah also owns the Russian-made Yakhont anti-ship missile with a range of 180 miles

Though Hezbollah was long believed to possess anti-aircraft missiles, they were never really used until after October 7. Several Israeli Hermes 450 drones flying through Lebanese airspace have been reported downed on multiple occasions this year. As for their own surveillance drones, Hezbollah’s arsenal includes the Ayoub and Mersad models, which experts note are cost-effective and simple to manufacture.

In terms of manpower, Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah is on record saying that he commands 100,000 terrorists. However, the CIA’s estimate is more conservative at up to 45,000, with about 20,000 full-time members.  [Emphasis added]

IDF rescues Israeli-Bedouin hostage Qaid Farhan Alkadi from Hamas captivity in southern Gaza   By YONAH JEREMY BOB

The IDF said they had already gathered some intelligence from Alkadi, both in the field and at Soroka Medical Center.

AUGUST 27, 2024 19:31  Jerusalem Post – The IDF and the Shin Bet on Tuesday early afternoon rescued Israeli-Bedouin hostage Qaid Farhan Alkadi, who was held by Hamas since October 7 from Mivtachim in the South, from a tunnel in Rafah.

The circumstances of his rescue are complex and remain open to interpretation.

The hostage’s name is Qaid Farhan Alkadi, age 52, from Rahat, father of 11 children.

The IDF has updated that it was searching for hostages in the area for a significant period of time.

Further, the IDF has confirmed that when it broke through parts of the tunnel complex into the tunnel room where Alkadi was being kept, which has been reported as being 20 meters deep, he was not being guarded at that moment.

There are different interpretations about whether Alkadi might have been able to escape on his own, given that he was not being guarded, or whether he could not have broken out of the room where he was being held without the IDF finding him.

The operation was led by Division 162, Brigade 401, the Nahal Brigade. Yahalom anti-tunnel special forces, along with the Shayetet 13 naval commandos.

Alkadi is healthy and is undergoing further health checks at Soroka Medical Center.

The IDF said that they had already gathered some intelligence from al-Kaadi both in the field and at Soroka.

IDF Chief Spokesman Daniel Hagari refused to share any details about the battle to free the hostage and how many Hamas forces it confronted, potentially suggesting that there are additional goals which may be achieved on an ongoing basis later Tuesday.

Questioned about whether Alkadi partially succeeded in escaping on his own, though with later aid by the IDF, Hagari did not deny the possibility, but did not confirm it and warned about informational security.

It is the fourth successful operation to rescue live Israeli hostages from Hamas, though there have been several successful operations finding and returning dozens of bodies of hostages killed by Hamas.

He is the eighth live hostage rescued from Gaza, which brings the number of remaining hostages down to 108 from an original round of 250.

Alkadi is the first live hostage to be rescued from a tunnel, with all prior live hostage rescues taking place above ground.

Top brass commends the rescue

Prime Minister Benjamin Benjamin Netanyahu praised the rescue, saying,

“Welcome back home, Qaid Farhan Alkadi. I commend the IDF and the Shin Bet for yet another successful rescue operation. We are tirelessly working to bring all our captives home.”

“We are doing this through two main approaches: negotiation and rescue operations. Both methods require our military presence on the ground and continuous military pressure on Hamas.”

“We will continue to act this way until we bring everyone home,” he concluded.

IDF Chief of Staff Lt.-Gen. Herzi Halevi said, “We do everything we can to save hostages. The IDF and the Shin Bet showed courage, determination, and taking initiative in a complex operation.”

Likewise, Defense Minister Yoav Gallant praised the success of the operation and said the IDF would continue with such daring operations.

The Big reveal

Transporation Minister Miri Regev also praised the rescue on x, saying, ” I commend the IDF and Shin Bet for the rescue of [Qaid] farhad Alkadi. Welcome home. This is another instance justifying our correct choice to enter Rafah. We will continue to operate until we return all of our hostages.”

‘We will not take lessons in humanity from the UN and will continue to fight and apply unrelenting pressure, military and political, until all of our hostages return,” her post concluded.

The post was controversial and caused a stir in Israeli media, as the location of the operation was kept under wraps by IDF censor and was not cleared for publication.

The post was deleted after more than half an hour.

Security forces demolish two Jewish hilltop communities   Hezki Baruch

Large forces arrive at Givat Tzur Harel, Oz Zion, evacuating the residents and demolishing the homesteads.

Aug 26, 2024, 10:41 AM (GMT+3)  INN – Large numbers of Border Police, Yasam, and Civil Administration forces arrived early Monday morning at Givat Tzur Harel in the Binyamin region to demolish the site.

During the 3:00 a.m. raid, the forces destroyed buildings, a goat pen, and the access road to the area.  [Emphasis added]

At the same time, forces arrived at nearby Oz Zion, demolishing the home of a couple who will wed in two weeks and who recently completed the construction of their home.

According to the residents, the forces did not allow the residents to remove their belongings from their homes prior to the demolition.

The Monday morning demolitions are the third time in two months that Israeli forces have demolished structures at the two locations.

Shmuel Hazani, the resident who is scheduled to wed in two weeks and whose home was demolished, said, “It is sad to see that during a time when our family members are enlisted in the IDF and are on the front, during a time when the State of Israel is being attacked by our enemies around us, the defense echelon decided that we are the real enemy and sent large forces in order to demolish our homes and prevent Jewish settlement in the Land of Israel. We will not be broken, and today we will begin to rebuild our home.”

Givat Tzur Harel responded: “Again the defense echelon has placed harming the settlement and the Land of Israel at the top of its priority list. This disgusting surrender of the defense echelon to the pressures by the terror-supporting Palestinian Authority ministers, which a few days ago visited the terrorist village of Burqa together with an antisemitic international delegation, and promised to fight the Jewish settlements, will go down in history.”

Heads of northern councils cut communications ‘with all government entities’

Northern leaders demand a full and complete solution for the area’s evicted residents • ‘We haven’t concerned you for ten and a half months – from now on, you don’t concern us’

August 25, 2024 at 06:30 AM  i24NEWS – Following the broad IDF preemptive strikes in southern Lebanon, the heads of northern border council published a letter on Sunday declaring a cessation of communication with all government entities until a solution is found for the evacuated residents.

Mateh Asher Regional Council head Moshe Davidovich, Metula Regional Council head David Azoulai, and Upper Galilee Regional Council head Giora Zelz said in a joint statement that they “are suspending communication with all government entities until a complete and comprehensive solution is reached for the residents and children of the northern border.”

They demanded “a solution that includes full security for the return of the displaced from their homes, ensuring the well-being of all residents and approval of an economic plan for the rehabilitation of the north.”

In addition, they slammed the preemptive strike against Hezbollah on Sunday morning

They added that the operation did not nothing to bring security for residents of northern Israel, dubbing it “the peak of the Israeli government’s detachment from hundreds of thousands of citizens in Israel.”

To the “prime minister, ministers, coalition members, government officials, and all government employees – we have not been concerned with you for ten and a half months, from now on you do not concern us,” the letter said. “Do not call, do not come, do not send messages, we have managed on our own until now, we will manage on our own from now on.”

Lobby 1701, representing thousands of residents of northern Israel, issued a message this morning in support of the council heads. “This morning we discovered the bare truth,” the movement said. “A preemptive attack and removing the threat against residents of the center – yes; continuing the preemptive attack and removing the threat against residents of the north north – no.”

The IDF spokesperson announced the preemptive attack against Lebanon’s Hezbollah, which foiled a planned coordinated assault against Israel. During the attack, thousands of rocket launchers aimed at the north and center were destroyed. In addition, Defense Minister Yoav Gallant signed an order declaring a special emergency status on the home front.

Yahya Sinwar reportedly hiding in plain sight ‘dressed as a woman’

The architect of the October 7 massacre likely is not hiding in tunnels for more than 24 to 36 hours at a time, a former Shin Bet official said

August 26, 2024  i24NEWS – Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar has left tunnels under the Gaza Strip and is now “dressed as a woman,” according to a report Monday in the UK’s Daily Express.

Shalom Ben Hanan, a former Shin Bet security agency official involved in the hunt for Sinwar, said that he likely is not staying in tunnels for more than 24 to 36 hours at a time.

Citing an Israeli intelligence source, the paper said that the architect of the October 7 massacre is aware that Israeli technology can detect movement in tunnels. “He needs to be on the move to avoid that mistake becoming fatal for him,” the source said.

Sinwar has limited contact with the outside world, with messages sent to other Hamas leaders taking far longer than before, recent reports said.

The Israel Defense Forces came close to capturing him on several occasions. In one operation, the 98th Division came within minutes of encountering Sinwar.

His “coffee was still hot,” said Brigadier General Dan Goldfus after the division raided his underground lair in January.

“Everybody makes mistakes – just as [military commander Mohammad] Deif did,” said Ben Hanan. “Sinwar will be killed. If we do not finish him off and destroy the remnants of the Hamas armed terrorists, Sinwar will have his victory – which is dangerous for us and the world.”

Israeli media reports that Hezbollah planned to launch at least 6,000 rockets and UAVs in massive barrages towards central and northern Israel. According to the IDF, the Hezbollah terror group intended to launch projectiles at central Israel this morning. However, the military foiled the attack during preemptive airstrikes in southern Lebanon.

The IDF released footage of the airstrikes in southern Lebanon, showing more than 100 fighter jets targeting thousands of Hezbollah rocket launchers intended for an attack on Israel. According to the military, most of the launchers were aimed at northern Israel, with some targeting central Israel.

Israeli media, quoting security sources, reported that Hezbollah intended to strike both operational and symbolic military targets, as well as civilian infrastructure such as seaports, airports, airfields, and power plants at 5 AM. The IDF struck more than 200 targets during its preemptive operation. The subsequent Hezbollah rocket fire towards northern Israel was described as “erratic and amateurish.”

“‌From right next to the homes of Lebanese civilians in the South of Lebanon, we can see that Hezbollah is preparing to launch an extensive attack on Israel, while endangering the Lebanese civilians. ‌We warn the civilians located in the areas where Hezbollah is operating, to move out of harm’s way immediately for their own safety,” he stated.

“Hezbollah’s ongoing aggression risks dragging the people of Lebanon, the people of Israel- and the whole region- into a wider escalation. ‌Israel will not tolerate Hezbollah’s attacks on our civilians,” Hagari made clear.

“‌We are operating in self defense from Hezbollah – and any other enemy that joins in their attacks against us- and we are ready to do everything we need to defend the people of Israel.”

The preventive action against Hezbollah was approved in discussions that took place overnight. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Yoav Gallant are in the Kirya base in Tel Aviv. The security cabinet will convene on Sunday morning at 7:00 a.m.

Sources in Lebanon reported that about 40 targets were attacked by the IDF.

In the meantime, sirens were sounded in a number of towns in the Upper Galilee. Several explosions were detected, there were no injuries.

Following the IDF’s announcement, residents of the conflict line and towns in the Golan were asked to stay close to shelters.

The Israel Airports Authority stated, “Due to the security situation, the departures this morning from Ben Gurion Airport will be delayed, and will not take off in the next few hours. Flights en route to Ben Gurion Airport will be directed to alternative airports in the region. It is recommended that the traveling public keep up to date with the various airlines on changes in schedules.”

The Magen David Adom spokesperson announced that “following the security situation and after an assessment of the situation tonight by MDA CEO Eli Bin, Magen David Adom has raised its alertness level and is on peak preparedness all around the country.”

Suspect arrested for terror attack outside French synagogue causing car explosion, one injured   By DANIELLE GREYMAN-KENNARDEYAL GREEN,

A French police officer was injured on Saturday when a blazing car exploded in the car park of a synagogue in the coastal town of La Grande-Motte.

AUGUST 24, 2024  REUTERS – French police have arrested a 33-year-old Algerian man, suspected of trying to set fire to the Beth Yaacov synagogue in La Grande-Motte, Southern France, on Saturday, Frances’ Interior Minister Gerald Darmanin said.

Roughly 200 policemen had been hunting for a suspect and the anti-terrorism prosecutor’s office was put in charge of the investigation, Prime Minister Gabriel Attal said.

The anti-terrorism prosecutor’s office said early on Sunday that a suspect had been arrested in Nîmes on Saturday evening.”Before the police could intervene, (the suspect) opened fire on the (police), who returned fire. The man was wounded in the face,” the office said in a statement, adding that two other people were taken into custody.

“This is an antisemitic attack. Once more, our Jewish compatriots are targeted,” Attal posted on X, adding: “We won’t give up. In the face of anti-Semitism, in the face of violence, we will never allow ourselves to be intimidated.”

The car explosion caused a second car to catch fire and the flames spread to the synagogue’s front doors. Firefighters are currently tackling four flames, according to France3.

“An attempted arson attack, clearly criminal, hit the synagogue of La Grande Motte this morning. I want to assure our Jewish fellow citizens and the municipality of my full support and say that at the request of the President of the Republic @EmmanuelMacron, all means are being mobilized to find the perpetrator,” he wrote on the social media platform.

🟠 SOLDIERS HAVE FALLEN  – AFTER SHABBAT NEWS

August 24, 2024  ISRAEL REALTIME – Connecting to Israel in Realtime

✡️ Shavua Tov, may we have a good and blessed week, safety and peace, success for our soldiers, and the safe and healthy return of our hostages.  And a really bad week for our enemies.

▪️4 HERO SOLDIERS HAVE FALLEN.. in battle in Gaza:

Evyatar Atuar, 24, from Rosh HaAyin.

Daniel Pacheniuk, 26, from Bat Yam

Nitai Mitodi, 23, from Ashkelon

Yang Yitchok Oren, 35, from Ein Gedi

May their families be comforted among the mourners of Zion and Jerusalem, and may G-d avenge their blood!

SHABBAT NEWS SUMMARY

🔷 LEBANON – IDF performed multiple targeted eliminations of several Hezbollah commanders in Lebanon and Syria, attacked Iranian backed militias in Syria on Shabbat day, and bombed Lebanon extensively.

Over 100 ROCKETS fired by HEZBOLLAH at northern Israel towns.  This seems to be the new Hezbollah pattern, less targets but MORE rockets – a barrage every time (mean 10-40 rockets per launch).  Several hits and homes burned in Kiryat Shmona.

🔶 DEAL SUMMARY -> Hamas is not negotiating but IS sending a team to the negotiations.  (No, I can’t figure that out either.)  They insist on no changes from the past US submitted terms of May or July, that they didn’t agree to and neither did Israel.  Israel has supposedly offered to reduce presence on the Egypt border and on the Gaza splitting corridor (Philadelphi and Netzar), but the PMO has denied.

Senior Hamas official Mahmoud Mardaoui:   “The arrival of the Hamas delegation in Cairo does not mean that we have entered into a round of talks. The delegation will receive updates from the Egyptians.”  (Meaning the Egyptian “mediators” are now negotiating FOR Hamas, not as a coordinating proxy but as the negotiators.)

And Israeli hostage families continue to blame the Prime Minister for not accepting survival threatening terms.  (In other words, a normal week.)

🔷 GAZA -> IDF continues heavy battles and destruction of sites used for military attacks, and those too close to the border or split corridor.  Every time Hamas fires a rocket, the IDF is now evacuating the area of civilians and then clearing it and destroying the launch site, which Hamas claims has reduced humanitarian areas from 230 square kilometers to 35.

Another kilometer long tunnel blow up in Rafah.

🔷 JUDEA-SAMARIA -> again accusations of local Israeli civilians rioting, this time said to be stone throwing – which usually comes about when the Arabs have been stone throwing at the road and the local Jews get sick of it when there is insufficient official response.  The IDF says they ran them off quickly.

Defense Minister Galant issued administrative arrest warrants against 4 Israelis living in Judea-Samaria.  That’s detention without trial, without presenting evidence, without judicial review – due to risk of terrorism.

🔷 FRANCE -> Synagogue attacked, bomb at the Beth Yaacov synagogue in La Grande Motte.  Police guarding the synagogue injured, fire started, 2 cars burned – one likely being the source of the explosion.  The potential suspect seen in CCTV footage was brandishing a Palestinian flag and armed.
