January 7, 2024 Yeshiva World News – New York City has cemented its status as the most expensive city in the United States to drive into, with newly imposed congestion fees reaching up to a staggering $27 just to enter Manhattan. This unprecedented toll far surpasses charges in other major cities, raising eyebrows and ire among commuters and critics alike.
To put it into perspective, crossing the iconic Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco costs drivers no more than $10.25, while entering Chicago’s Skyway tops out at $7.80. Even Houston, notorious for its expansive toll networks, sees maximum charges around $15 — a far cry from Manhattan’s new price tag.
Drivers navigating into New York’s so-called “Congestion Zone” now face fees ranging between $9 and $20 with an E-ZPass, while those without the pass will pay from $13.50 to $27. Larger vehicles and trucks are hit even harder. According to the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA), more than 700,000 vehicles enter the congestion charge area daily, amounting to an eye-watering $4 million in daily revenue.
By comparison, tolls in San Francisco hold steady at $8 across most Bay Area bridges, with the Golden Gate Bridge peaking at $10.25. San Francisco’s toll structure remains consistent regardless of the time of day, avoiding the peak-hour gouging New York drivers now endure.
In Chicago, the Skyway tolls recently increased to $7.80, a modest rise compared to New York’s aggressive pricing model. Even Norfolk, Virginia — home to the pricey Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel — caps its peak tolls at $21 during high season, still under New York’s highest charge.
Meanwhile, cities like Los Angeles and Atlanta, known for heavy traffic, maintain toll-free routes or modest express lane fees based on demand, often avoiding the financial squeeze New York now imposes.
Critics argue that New York’s congestion pricing feels less like a traffic-reduction strategy and more like a blatant money grab. “At $4 million a day, this is less about easing congestion and more about milking drivers for every dollar,” one commuter vented.
Despite city officials framing the initiative as essential for reducing traffic and emissions, the price hikes feel punitive to everyday drivers, many of whom lack viable public transit alternatives.
As cities like Houston and Chicago actively reduce toll rates or limit increases, New York has chosen the opposite path, doubling down on driver costs at a time when inflation and living expenses are already sky-high. This aggressive approach risks alienating residents and visitors, potentially discouraging economic activity in Manhattan’s commercial and retail sectors.
While other U.S. cities are finding ways to balance revenue generation with affordability, New York appears to have handed its drivers a financial ultimatum: Pay up or stay out.

What To Know About The Meta Glasses The New Orleans Terrorist Used To Scout The French Quarter
January 7, 2025 Yeshiva World News – The man who drove a truck into a crowd of people in New Orleans on New Year’s Day, killing 14, had previously scouted the French Quarter and recorded video with his Meta smart glasses, the FBI said.
On Oct. 31, Shamsud-Din Jabbar recorded video with the glasses as he cycled through the French Quarter and plotted the attack, said Lyonel Myrthil, FBI special agent in charge of the New Orleans field office. Jabbar also wore the glasses, which are capable of livestreaming, during the attack, but did not activate them.
A spokesperson for Meta, the parent company of Facebook, declined to comment.

What are Meta glasses?
Meta glasses, made in partnership with Ray-Ban, are frames with a built-in camera, speakers and artificial intelligence that can be controlled with your voice, buttons and some simple gestures. Some functions, such as listening to music or interacting with Meta’s AI assistant, require the device to be either paired with a phone or able to access the internet.
The wearable does not have a display built into the lens, unlike some past industry attempts at building augmented-reality smart glasses. However, Meta has said it is working on a pair of glasses that will give users a fully holographic experience.
What the glasses can do
One of the glasses’ main selling points is the ability to capture images and video using the onboard camera, then upload those files to Instagram or Facebook. You can also livestream, but only to Meta’s compatible social platforms.
You can also use the glasses to make audio and video calls, message people or listen to music.
The camera also allows Meta’s AI assistant to see what you’re seeing, allowing it to translate text into multiple languages (spoken back to you, or shown on a paired phone app), and answer simple questions, such as searching the nearest landmark to your location. The glasses are largely a hands-free experience so you will be talking to your device — and it will reply.
What the glasses can’t do
The glasses currently cannot perform complex tasks that other digital assistants might be able to, like booking you a reservation at a restaurant or giving you turn-by-turn directions while you’re on the move. And there’s no display in the lens, so there isn’t a viewfinder for framing photos or video.
There are also visual indicators built into the system that allow bystanders to know when you’re shooting video or taking photos. This LED privacy indicator stays on while you use the camera functions. According to Meta, you can’t disable this light to be more discreet in your actions.

Did The Feds Aid and Abet The New Orleans Jihad Terror Attack By Robert Spencer
January 5, 2025 – Trust in our government has lowered to the point that some people are suggesting that the New Orleans jihad massacre was aided and abetted, or even concocted, by the feds in order to stir up unrest as Trump prepares to return to the presidency, or to create a pretext for some other action. Some of those who are making suggestions of this kind, such as Candace Owens, just want to find some plausible way to blame Jews, or to claim that it’s all in the service of trying to get the U.S. involved in a war in the Middle East on behalf of Israel. Those types, including Owens herself, tend to downplay or deny outright the reality of Islamic jihad, preferring to see virtually all the workings of the wide world as the puppet show of the all-powerful and ever-unseen Zionists. Still, would the feds really get involved in a jihad plot to kill Americans? Sure.
No one really knows for sure, except the conspirators, if there are any, whether or not the feds are involved. And jihad is real, as the news out of Africa, Asia and Europe shows daily. Still, the question must be asked: would the feds really aid and abet a jihad terror attack? Have they really become that corrupt and compromised? And the answer is: yes. Of course they would, and yes, they’re that corrupt. The evidence for this fact lies in their behavior at the Muhammad Art Exhibit and Cartoon Contest that Pamela Geller and I organized in May, 2015.
The Daily Beast wrote in August 2016 about how this undercover FBI agent encouraged the jihadis. The Beast’s Katie Zavadski wrote: “Days before an ISIS sympathizer attacked a cartoon contest in Garland, Texas, he received a text from an undercover FBI agent. ‘Tear up Texas,’ the agent messaged Elton Simpson days before he opened fire at the Draw Muhammad event, according to an affidavit (pdf) filed in federal court Thursday.”
This was not entrapment. Simpson and his partner Nadir Soofi were determined jihadis who had scouted out other targets. Simpson, along with Soofi and another jihadi, Abdul Malik Abdul Kareem, who supplied weapons to the pair and helped train them, sought information about pipe bombs and plotted to attack the Super Bowl, and planned to go to Syria to join the Islamic State (ISIS), long before anyone told him to “tear up Texas.”
But what was the FBI’s game in telling them to do that? Why didn’t they have a phalanx of agents in place, ready to stop the attack? Or did they want the attack to succeed, so that Barack Obama’s vow that “the future must not belong to those who slander the prophet of Islam” would be vividly illustrated, and intimidate any other Americans who might be contemplating defending the freedom of speech into silence?
We twice asked the FBI for an investigation into this matter. They ignored us, of course. On Thursday in The Federalist, that publication’s elections correspondent, Brianna Lyman, recalled some of the curiosities of the Garland attack, about which the feds have maintained their silence for nine years now. Lyman wrote: “Radical Islamist terrorist Shamsud-Din Jabbar plowed his truck through a crowd in New Orleans in the wee hours of the New Year, murdering 15 and injuring dozens. The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) is now leading the investigation — the same agency in which an agent once encouraged a radical Islamist terrorist to ‘tear up Texas.’”
Lyman noted that “in 2015, local Texas police thwarted what would have been a massive terrorist attack in Garland, Texas. The saga began when the Islamic State recruited Erick Jamal Hendricks, a North Carolina man, who later befriended an undercover FBI agent. Hendricks connected the FBI agent to radical Islamist terrorist Elton Simpson.”
Lyman also pointed out that “during initial discussions between Simpson and the undercover FBI agent — who has never been named in government documents — the agent told Simpson to ‘tear up Texas’ after Simpson made the agent aware of an alleged blasphemous Muhammad cartoon contest to be held at the Curtis Culwell Center in Garland.” Simpson and Soofi then drove eight hours from Phoenix, Arizona to Garland, and opened fire in the parking lot outside our event just as it was ending.
Lyman states: “The FBI agent was present at the attack and later told Hendricks — who was not present at the attack — that he was Hendricks’ ‘eyes’ that day.” Also: “Trenton Roberts, a lawyer for security guard Bruce Joiner (who was injured in the attack), reportedly said he was ‘convinced that there is much more to this story than the FBI has admitted.’”
Oh yeah. No doubt about that. And now the same agency is going to tell us the full truth about what happened in New Orleans. How reassuring.

The newspaper, citing three anonymous sources, indicated that while the exact timing of Trudeau’s announcement remains uncertain, it is expected to occur before a critical national caucus meeting on Wednesday.
The Prime Minister’s Office did not respond to the report. It is also remains unclear whether Trudeau intends to step down immediately or continue serving as Prime Minister until a new Liberal leader is chosen.

“Senators are saying there’s information in there that talks about gain of function on these viruses. And yes, that gain of function did happen,” Fleetwood continued.
“If that happened from the DEFUSE proposal, then what else also happened that’s inside the DEFUSE proposal?”

Investigative journalist Margot Patrick of the Wall Street Journal reveals how Switzerland’s Credit Suisse bank in Zurich hid thousands of files marked with the ominous “American blacklist” stamp. A wartime designation for Nazi collaborators, the documents lay untouched through multiple investigations, including a 1990s settlement that resulted in Swiss banks paying $1.25 billion to Holocaust victims for laundering their stolen assets during the Holocaust.

January 4, 2025 Just the News – President-elect Donald Trump on Saturday called for Judge Juan Merchan to be disbarred after he rejected Trump’s bid to toss out his conviction in Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s hush money case.
“The judge should be disbarred!” Trump wrote in a lengthy TRUTH Social post. “This is why people, and companies, are FLEEING New York – A corrupt court system.”
Judge Merchan on Friday rejected Trump’s bid to toss out the conviction in his New York hush money trial. He is expected to be sentenced on Jan. 10.
The judge indicated Friday he was unlikely to impose jail time, and that he intends instead to sentence Trump to an “unconditional discharge.” Trump was convicted last year on 34 counts of falsifying business records in connection with a 2016 payment his then-attorney, Michael Cohen, made to porn star Stormy Daniels.
“I never falsified business records,” Trump’s post reads. “It is a fake, made up charge by a corrupt judge who is just doing the work of the Biden/Harris Injustice Department, an attack on their political opponent, ME!”
Trump said he hid nothing regarding the documents.
“I was hiding nothing, everything was out in the open for all to see. Every legal scholar of note said there IS NO CASE AGAINST ME,” he stated.
