States Resist Trump’s Mass Deportation Plans: California, New York, Maryland and Colorado Push Back [4 VIDEOS] MARIA HERRERA MELLADO
DIC. 5, 2024 4:47 PM – In response to former President Donald Trump’s mass deportation plans, states like California and New York have been vocal in their opposition, asserting their authority to protect immigrant communities from federal enforcement.
California has long been at the forefront of this resistance. Under Senator Alex Padilla and Governor Gavin Newsom, the state has emphasized its commitment to shielding immigrants, particularly through Senate Bill 54, the “California Values Act,” which limits state and local cooperation with federal immigration authorities.
Governor Newsom has reaffirmed California’s position, vowing to protect its residents from federal deportation actions. Assembly Speaker Robert Rivas echoed this sentiment, stressing that the state would continue to protect all residents, regardless of immigration status.
New York has similarly resisted federal deportation efforts, though with recent changes. Mayor Eric Adams, initially steadfast in opposing federal immigration enforcement, has shifted his stance. While Adams previously emphasized New York’s role as a sanctuary city, promising not to cooperate with federal immigration authorities, recent developments suggest he is now open to collaborating with federal authorities. Despite this shift, Adams continues to highlight the need to protect immigrant communities, acknowledging their critical role in the city’s economy and society.
Trump border czar says he will tell NY mayor to deport criminal immigrants
New York Governor Kathy Hochul, also a Democrat, stated that she supports deporting immigrants who commit crimes, responding to questions about whether New York is a sanctuary state. She clarified that while she wouldn’t directly label the state as a sanctuary, she would call Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) if someone breaks the law. Hochul emphasized her desire to remove criminals from the state, saying she doesn’t want anyone «terrorizing» citizens.
She also expressed support for allowing migrants with legal status, including those with temporary status, to obtain work permits, noting that New York has 460,000 open jobs. Hochul highlighted that many of the 220,000 migrants who have arrived in New York City since 2022 are legally present, as they are seeking asylum with pending cases.
Additionally, she noted that at least 58,000 migrants are staying in city-funded shelters, and the city has entered into a $220 million agreement to use the Roosevelt Hotel for housing them.
Hochul has faced pressure to strengthen immigrant protections, particularly with President-elect Donald Trump’s mass deportation plans, and the Immigrant Defense Project has urged her to support a bill restricting local law enforcement cooperation with ICE.
The pushback from these states has ignited a national debate over the constitutional authority of states versus the federal government on immigration policy. While the federal government holds authority over immigration matters, states like California and New York argue that local governments should have the power to regulate and protect their own residents, especially vulnerable populations.
Maryland mayor took heat over vows to resist Trump deportation efforts. Frederick County, Md., Sheriff Chuck Jenkins discussed immigration and immigrant crime on ‘Fox News:
WATCH: BORDER BATTLE: Dems ramp up vow to resist Trump’s deportation plan
The conflict has raised significant questions about the balance of power between federal and state governments. Trump’s mass deportation agenda, which seeks to ramp up enforcement, clashes with the policies of these states that prioritize immigrant welfare. California and New York argue that they should have the discretion to create policies that reflect their values of inclusion and protection for all residents, including undocumented immigrants.
This debate has prompted heated discussions on both sides. Supporters of stricter immigration enforcement argue that states must adhere to federal immigration laws, while opponents maintain that the federal government’s aggressive stance harms communities. As the battle over immigration policy continues to evolve, the actions of California and New York will remain central to the broader conversation about the role of states in immigration enforcement.
Denver Mayor Mike Johnston set off firestorm with vows to resist Trump’s mass deportation plans. His statement that Denverites would resist a federal mass-deportation effort — including a suggestion that he would mobilize the Denver police department to face off with federal and National Guard troops — have generated blowback in Colorado and across the country.
As federal policies on mass deportation continue, some states’ resistance underscores the shifting landscape of immigration politics. The resolution of this issue will have lasting implications for the relationship between state and federal authorities, as well as the future of immigrant rights in the U.S.

Elon and Vivek’s First DOGE Move Leaves 94% of Fed Workers in Deep Trouble By Jack Davis
December 5, 2024 at 4:59pm The Western Journal – A Republican senator is proposing a bill that she says would give the Trump administration’s Department of Government Efficiency a head start on making government more efficient.
Republican Sen. Joni Ernst of Iowa has proposed the REMOTE Act, which will monitor bureaucrats’ computer use and require agencies to report on the downside of telework, according to the U.K.’s Daily Mail.
The bill would require that agencies review how much work remote federal employees actually do: including the “average number of logins made” by every federal worker and the amount of time spent on the federal network.
“The American people gave us a mandate to shake up business as usual in Washington and drain the swamp. That starts with getting the bureaucrat class to climb out of the bubble bath, put away the golf clubs, and get back to work,” Ernst said, according to Politico.
Ernst is the chair of the Senate DOGE Caucus and has met with Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy to pitch her ideas, according to Fox News.
One of Ernst’s major proposals is to reduce the number of federal employees who do not regularly come into their offices.
Ernst recently released a report saying federal workers “have been found in a bubble bath, on the golf course, running their own business, and even getting busted doing crime while on taxpayers’ time.”
“Just 3 percent of the federal workforce teleworked daily prior to the COVID-19 pandemic. Today, 6 percent of workers report in-person on a full-time basis, while nearly one-third are entirely remote,” the report said.
“Most federal employees are eligible to telework and 90 percent of those are. Some come to the office as infrequently as once a week,” the report said.
Completing this poll entitles you to The Western Journal news updates free of charge via email. You may opt out at anytime. You also agree to our Privacy Policy and Terms of Use.
The report said that as thousands of federal workers allegedly do their jobs from home, “no one is checking to make sure everyone made it to work or even logged on to their computer. Backlogs for services are typical and accountability is rare. It took years to fire a senior IRS employee who routinely abused his remote work arrangement by playing golf during the workday for nearly a decade.”
She noted one federal worker who conducted a remote meeting from a bathtub while taking a bubble bath.
Ernst noted that remote work took root at the dawn of the pandemic.
“Washington is still operating as if it’s March 2020. The headquarters of most agencies remain largely abandoned. Government employees are scattered and often unreachable,” her report said.
“The failure of managers to set the right example and properly monitor teleworkers creates an ‘anything goes’ attitude with other employees,” the report said.
The report said that over 90 percent of the employees at the Department of Housing and Urban Development work from home with only one day a week in the office required.
The report also said that some federal workers pad their pay by claiming to work in one location while they actually work from home in an area where, according to federal rules, they should receive a lower salary.
Ernst said that the solution requires proof that employees working from home are productive. If not, she wrote, they should be brought back to the office.

Governments of France, Romania, Georgia, Syria, Israel, South Korea, Russia, Ukraine, the UK and US, among many others are in political turmoil: It’s no accident LEO HOHMANN
U.S. elects Trump, France’s globalist warmongering government collapses, Romania may boot its globalist president and elect a populist, same for Georgia, and Ukraine would love to ditch Zelensky.
DEC 05, 2024 – The nations of the world are falling into chaos and turmoil like perhaps never before in the post-World War II modern era.
The government of France collapsed today. I think the U.K. is on its way to a similar situation. Ukraine would love to get rid of Zelensky, whose approval ratings are down around 24 percent. People are tired of war and economic hardship brought on by fraudulent green economic policies associated with the World Economic Forum, United Nations and other globalist organizations.
A couple of days ago South Korea briefly fell into chaos. Then Syria. The Eastern European nation of Georgia is in the midst of an attempted color revolution (almost certainly CIA-inspired). We all know about Ukraine and Russia and the purported quest to end that nasty border war by the incoming president of the United States, Donald Trump. I am one of the few who have reported the real reason for that war — it has nothing to do with freedom or “democracy.” No, that war is being waged over who gets control of the vast natural resources in Russia and Ukraine.
The United States itself has been assessed by many authors and observers to be on the brink of civil war. And trying to deport 20 million illegals could serve as the triggering mechanism.
Nation states around the world are falling into chaos. This seems orchestrated by hidden powers who operate above the level of political leaders.
We can see a widening leadership gap and that is also by design. The world’s two strongest leaders, at least in perception, are Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin, and I don’t believe it’s a coincidence that the globalists are pitting the countries led by those two men against each other. They may be the last two impediments to the NWO one-world beast system. Weaken them, and the whole deck of cards may fold, paving the way for a global strong man to take charge and implement the one-world system that globalists crave, based on digital IDs for all and digital currency. No more cash. No more individual freedom.
But the masses are waking up. Globalist policians are being put on notice. Their time may be up. This doesn’t mean the masses will necessarily be vindicated, though. Some of these anti-globalist populist politicians may have been set up for failure, and some may not be authentic populists to begin with.
Besides what’s going on in France, where globalist President Emmanuel Macron is absolutely detested and may declare himself dictator to keep his hold on power, the latest sign that the masses are growing discontent with the NWO puppet politicians can be found in Romania.
Romania is not on the radar of most Americans but it is a key NATO member state and host country for important U.S. military assets.
Paul Serran has an interesting article up at The Gateway Pundit about Romania.
After the recount of the first round of vote confirms the initial results, Serran reports that “globalists all around Europe are freaking out at the prospect of having outsider, rightwing candidate Calin Georgescu as new president of Romania.”
The presidential election runoff is on Sunday, and Georgescu, a critic of NATO, the EU, UN and WEF, is likely to defeat pro-European globalist puppet Elena Lasconi.
A victory by Georgescu, a devout Orthodox Christian who opposes abortion and gay marriage and has a Romania-first approach, would be a terrifying prospect for the globalist plans of the European elites.
Reuters reported:
“The [Sunday] vote is the last of three consecutive ballots for both a new parliament and president in the European Union and NATO member state in which the far right has surged amid deepening distrust in state institutions after multiple economic crises and Russia’s full-scale invasion of neighboring Ukraine.”
Georgescu stunned the world when he surged from obscurity as the winner of the first round of elections on November 24.
Following desperate moves by the current government, Serran reports that the first round went into recount but the top court ultimately validated the vote.
Opinion polls now show Georgescu’s public support running at nearly 60 percent, making him the favorite in Sunday’s runoff election.
Reuters further reported:
“If Georgescu wins on Sunday, analysts say, it would upend Romania’s politics, pushing it closer to a belt of states in central and eastern Europe with powerful far-right, Russia-friendly politicians, including Hungary, Slovakia and Austria. Georgescu cast himself as an outsider fighting a corrupt entrenched political class beholden to foreign interests, a message that resonated with many voters frustrated with mainstream parties consumed by infighting and graft allegations.”
Georgescu has been berated by the corporate media for a host of anti-globalist stances, none more vociferously than for his opposition to continued military aid to Ukraine. He is seen as an existential threat against the globalist agenda being perpetuated by the World Economic Forum, U.N. and other globalist bodies.
If you look him up on the globalist-funded Wikipedia site, he is described as a “far right extremist politician” and arch supporter of “conspiracy theories.”
Like Donald Trump, Mr. Georgescu has been accused by the Western media of being a Russian asset. You can hear some of his views in the 4-minute video below.
Chief among the “conspiracy theories” promoted by Georgescu that the media doesn’t like is his contention that there are 8 million children missing around the world, trapped in pedophilia rings or killed, in a system run by the world’s wealthiest oligarchs.
Georgescu should know. And this is where it gets weird. He is the former executive director of the United Nations Global Sustainable Index Institute for the period 2015–2016. Prior to that, he served as president of the European Research Center for the Club of Rome (2013–2015).
How anyone with a resume like his gets to be labeled by Wikipedia as a rightwing extremist conspiracy theorist is curious, but here he is (click link below) talking about the oligarchs and their penchant for young children.

There Is No Cloud – It’s Just Someone Else’s Data Center JAY VALENTINE
Timesharing had its run in the 70s, cloud computing is the same thing and will collapse the same way
,,, “People, there is no cloud – it’s just someone else’s data center.“
DEC 05, 2024 – Anyone remember Tymshare, Service Bureau Corporation and NCSS?
If you are a techie, over 65, you may recall them as the Microsoft and Amazon of the late 70s.
They were the timesharing giants – although giant meant something quite different in those days.
Timesharing was a way for corporations to get their computer work done – forecasting, financial simulation, personnel applications and they used software called Express, Focus, NOMAD and some others.
Timesharing was a growth business and those companies were doing well building vertical applications like a personnel management system or a rail car management system – then sold by the transaction or the hour license fees to corporate customers.
There were some real problems with timesharing that were not obvious early on.
One of them was “vendor lock in.”
When a company spent half a mil building a financial forecasting system in Express, there was no way to take it in house later. Express didn’t port.
In the early 80s IBM, DEC and a host of other companies started delivering mini-computers – and became the behemoths of their day. At least DEC did, IBM was already there.
Companies saw no reason to continue to outsource their computing, so they brought it in house and started the mad dash to building huge IT (info tech) staffs still in use today.
Timesharing died in a 4 year timeframe – from a very hot product domain to companies literally out of business – that fast.
This was disruption at scale – and it was something to behold.
Today you hear about the “cloud.”
People, there is no cloud – it’s just someone else’s data center. [Emphasis added]
The cloud is nothing but a massive marketing phenomenon which will level off, become marginally profitable in the late part of this decade. It has to because it is 100% the same technology that everyone has in house already – it’s just on someone else’s computer – at a far higher cost.
WATCH: BREAKING: Video Shows Chilling Moment Masked Gunman Executed United Healthcare CEO By Cristina Laila
Dec. 4, 2024 1:40 pm – Surveillance video showing the chilling moment a masked gunman executed United Healthcare CEO Brian Thompson was released Wednesday afternoon as new details of the targeted shooting death emerged.
As previously reported, United Healthcare CEO Brian Thompson was shot in the chest Wednesday morning outside the Hilton hotel in Midtown Manhattan in what is believed to be a targeted attack.
Thompson, 50, arrived before 7 am for a conference when he was shot at multiple times by a masked man who police say was waiting for him to arrive, the New York Post reported.
Thompson was pronounced dead at the Mt. Sinai Hospital.
The assailant calmly executed Brian Thompson and then took off down 6th Street on a bicycle.
According to CBS News, the shooter waited for hours overnight and used a silencer when he fatally shot Brian Thompson.
“It appears the suspect was lying in wait for several minutes, and as the victim was walking to the conference hotel, the suspect approached from behind and fired several rounds, striking the victim at least once in the back and at least once in the right calf,” NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch said.
Video shows the assailant methodically getting into position as Brian Thompson walked in front of the Manhattan Hilton Hotel.
The gunman fired several rounds at Brian Thompson causing him to stumble, before shooting him again.

Brian Thompson’s wife said her husband was being threatened before Wednesday’s fatal shooting.
“There had been some threats,” Paulette Thompson said, according to The New York Post.
When asked about the reasoning behind the threats, Paulette Thompson said: “I don’t know, a lack of coverage?”
“I don’t know details. I just know that he said there were some people that had been threatening him,” she said.
“I can’t really give a thoughtful response right now. I just found this out and I’m trying to console my children.”

Abolishing the Department of Education: A Critical Necessity
Conservative policymakers have long criticized the U.S. Department of Education, arguing that its centralized authority undermines parental and state control of education. Since its creation in 1979 under President Jimmy Carter, the department has been labeled a costly failure, unable to achieve its stated goals despite decades of effort and ever-increasing budgets.
A Failed Experiment
As federal control over education expanded, the results have been catastrophic. Testing scores have steadily declined, global proficiency rankings have plummeted, and public trust in the system has eroded. In stark reality, only 26% of eighth graders perform at or above grade-level proficiency. The growing disconnect between funding and results highlights the system’s inefficiency. Federal spending per student rose from $11,221 in 1979 (adjusted for inflation) to $17,700 in 2023, yet student performance has stagnated or declined.
The National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP) reports that 13-year-olds recently scored their lowest math proficiency levels in over 30 years. Similarly, the number of high school seniors who did not read a single book for pleasure nearly quadrupled between 1976 and 2021—tragic! These statistics paint a grim picture of a system that fails to prepare students for a competitive and increasingly globalized world.
A Bureaucratic Overreach
Critics argue that the Department of Education prioritizes bureaucratic interests over student success. Despite contributing only 9% of overall education funding, the federal government controls 90% of education policies, stifling local and state innovation. Former Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos has called for its closure, stating, “We spent over $1 trillion…and we’ve gotten nothing but worse results.” She advocates redirecting federal funds directly to parents through block grants, empowering them to choose the best educational options for their children.
The department has also faced backlash for imposing controversial social policies, including promoting gender ideology and critical race theory (CRT) in curricula and forgoing grades or discriminating based on skin tone when grading in the name of race equity. Some school systems stooped as low as segregating students by skin tone in the name of DEI.
Ensuring Safeguards in a Decentralized System
Dismantling the department raises concerns about potential disparities among states. Critics worry that blue states may adopt radicalized policies that could undermine national unity and educational standards. Some propose legislative safeguards to prevent this, ensuring baseline standards that preserve American identity and historical accuracy while banning DEI, CRT, Social Justice Activist Training, All Ages Comprehensive Sex Education, Gender Fluidity, the 1619 Project, Parental Rights Violations, Gender and Sexual Orientation Counseling, Planned Parenthood education programs, and more.
While the task of decentralizing education is immense, it offers an opportunity to lift up America’s children and secure the nation’s future while stripping power from the teacher unions, which have promoted a Marxist agenda in government schools for far too long.

Trump Asks Key Question About ‘J-6 Hostages’ in Response to Hunter Biden’s Pardon By Jack Davis
December 2, 2024 at 8:29am The Western Journal – Lame duck President Joe Biden’s sweeping pardon of his son was attacked by President-elect Donald Trump as a miscarriage of justice.
tg“Does the Pardon given by Joe to Hunter include the J-6 Hostages, who have now been imprisoned for years? Such an abuse and miscarriage of Justice!” Trump wrote on Truth Social on Sunday.
Trump has said that freeing individuals who participated in the Capitol incursion that he feels are wrongly in prison would be one of his first acts as president.
The pardon was also condemned by Steven Cheung, Trump’s communications director, noting that it caps a year in which the justice system became a political puppet for Democrats.
“The failed witch hunts against President Trump have proven that the Democrat-controlled DOJ and other radical prosecutors are guilty of weaponizing the justice system,” according to Newsweek.
Jonathan Turley, a professor at George Washington University Law School, trashed Biden’s actions.
“With this pardon, Joe Biden shredded any residue of veracity and credibility as president,” Turley posted on X.
“For years, he was repeatedly asked if he met any of his son’s clients. He lied and denied it. He was repeatedly asked if he was aware of Hunter’s foreign dealings. He repeatedly lied and denied it. He was asked if he would pardon his son. He repeatedly lied and denied it,” Turley wrote.
Turley said giving Hunter Biden a 10-year pardon for whatever he might have done “is precisely the type of sweeping immunity grant that the federal judge balked at in the hearing when the earlier sweetheart deal feel apart. The judge asked the prosecutor if he had ever seen such a deal and he admitted that he had not.”
“Notably, when he was running for reelection and denying that he would pardon Hunter, few believed him. Some of us noted that Hunter’s bizarre legal strategy only made sense if he was told that, in the worst-case scenario, his father would pardon him,” Turley wrote.
“Hunter Biden is hardly the poster child for a victim of over-enforcement of federal laws. He was given a free pass on allegations that he was an unregistered agent and was the personification of influence peddling in Washington,” Turley commented.
In a statement on the White House website, Biden explained his decision.
“I said I would not interfere with the Justice Department’s decision-making, and I kept my word even as I have watched my son being selectively, and unfairly, prosecuted,” Biden said.
“Without aggravating factors like use in a crime, multiple purchases, or buying a weapon as a straw purchaser, people are almost never brought to trial on felony charges solely for how they filled out a gun form. Those who were late paying their taxes because of serious addictions, but paid them back subsequently with interest and penalties, are typically given non-criminal resolutions. It is clear that Hunter was treated differently.
“The charges in his cases came about only after several of my political opponents in Congress instigated them to attack me and oppose my election. Then, a carefully negotiated plea deal, agreed to by the Department of Justice, unraveled in the court room — with a number of my political opponents in Congress taking credit for bringing political pressure on the process. Had the plea deal held, it would have been a fair, reasonable resolution of Hunter’s cases,” Biden continued.
In fact, the plea deal was thrown out by U.S. District Court Judge Maryellen Noreika, who objected to its provisions, according to the Associated Press.
“No reasonable person who looks at the facts of Hunter’s cases can reach any other conclusion than Hunter was singled out only because he is my son — and that is wrong. There has been an effort to break Hunter — who has been five and a half years sober, even in the face of unrelenting attacks and selective prosecution. In trying to break Hunter, they’ve tried to break me – and there’s no reason to believe it will stop here. Enough is enough,” Biden said.
Biden concluded the statement, saying he was committing justice.
“I believe in the justice system, but as I have wrestled with this, I also believe raw politics has infected this process and it led to a miscarriage of justice — and once I made this decision this weekend, there was no sense in delaying it further. I hope Americans will understand why a father and a President would come to this decision.”

At least one million people without power in Ukraine after ‘massive’ Russian attack
28/11/2024 FRANCE 24 – At least one million people are without power in Ukraine after Russia staged a “massive” attack on the country’s energy infrastructure in the early hours of Thursday. The missile strikes come as temperatures have dropped to freezing, and a UN official has warned that as Russia continues to target Ukraine’s power grid, this winter could become the “harshest since the start of the war”.
“Once again, the energy sector is under massive enemy attack. Attacks on energy facilities are taking place across Ukraine,” Energy Minister German Galushchenko said in a Facebook post.
National power grid operator Ukrenergo had “urgently introduced emergency power cuts”, he added, as temperatures across the country dropped to around 0 degrees Celsius (32 degrees Fahrenheit).
In western Ukraine alone, more than one million people were without power on Thursday morning.
“As of now, 523,000 subscribers in Lviv region are without electricity,” regional head Maksym Kozytskyi said on social media, while authorities said 280,000 were cut off in the western Rivne region and another 215,000 in the Volyn region.
A senior UN official, Rosemary DiCarlo, this month denounced the rise in civilian casualties in the nearly three-year conflict between Ukraine and Russia, noting Moscow’s targeting of Ukraine’s energy infrastructure may make this winter the “harshest since the start of the war”.
Energy provider DTEK said Ukrenergo was introducing emergency power outages in the regions of Kyiv, Odesa, Dnipro and Donetsk.
Ukraine’s military said earlier Thursday that an air raid alert had been declared across the country “due to a missile threat” in a message on Telegram.
Missiles were detected headed for Kharkiv, Odesa and eight other regions, according to other messages from the air force.
“Kharkiv, go to the shelters!” it warned.
Oleg Synegubov, head of the Kharkiv region military administration, said on Telegram that three strikes had hit Kharkiv’s Kyivskyi district, with no casualties reported so far.
The mayor of Lutsk in northwestern Ukraine, Igor Polishchuk, said that “explosions were heard again” in the city.
Trump’s envoy
The latest missile salvo comes a day after US president-elect Donald Trump named staunch loyalist and retired general Keith Kellogg as his Ukraine envoy, charged with ending the Russian invasion.
Trump campaigned on a platform of securing a swift end to the Ukraine war, boasting that he would quickly mediate a ceasefire deal between President Volodymyr Zelensky and Russian leader Vladimir Putin.
But his critics have warned that the incoming Republican will likely leverage US military aid to pressure Kyiv into an agreement that leaves it ceding occupied territory permanently or agreeing not to join NATO.
A fixture on the cable news circuit, 80-year-old national security veteran Kellogg co-authored a paper this year calling for Washington to leverage military aid as a means of pushing for peace talks.
Ukraine has received almost $60 billion from Washington for its armed forces since Russia launched a full-scale invasion in February 2022, but with the more isolationist Trump taking over the White House, supporters fear the spigot will run dry.
“The United States would continue to arm Ukraine and strengthen its defenses to ensure Russia will make no further advances and will not attack again after a cease-fire or peace agreement,” Kellogg’s research paper for the Trumpist America First Policy Institute think tank said.
“Future American military aid, however, will require Ukraine to participate in peace talks with Russia.”
Troop shortages
Kellogg told Voice of America at the Republican convention in July that Ukraine’s options were “quite clear”.
“If Ukraine doesn’t want to negotiate, fine, but then accept the fact that you can have enormous losses in your cities and accept the fact that you will have your children killed, accept the fact that you don’t have 130,000 dead, you will have 230,000-250,000,” he said.
Trump’s announcement came as the outgoing administration of Democrat Joe Biden was hosting a news conference to urge Ukraine to enlist more recruits by reducing the minimum age of conscription to 18 – in line with the US benchmark.
Facing a much larger enemy with more advanced weapons and with stocks of volunteers dwindling, Ukraine is facing an “existential” recruitment crunch, a senior administration official told reporters.
“The simple truth is that Ukraine is not currently mobilising or training enough soldiers to replace their battlefield losses while keeping pace with Russia’s growing military,” said the official, speaking on the condition of anonymity.
He added that an additional 160,000 troops would be “on the low end” to fill out Ukraine’s ranks – but “a good start”.
National Security Council spokesman John Kirby later clarified that the White House would not make the huge flow of US military aid to Kyiv dependent on a conscription age change.
