New Missile Barrage Pummels Ukraine As Russia Vows US-Made Tanks “Will Burn” BY TYLER DURDEN
JAN 26, 2023 – 01:15 PM – Another large wave of Russian airstrikes pummeled Ukrainian energy infrastructure on Thursday, in what’s widely being seen as the most immediate response to the day prior announcement from the US and Germany that Abrams and Leopard main battle tanks will be supplied to Ukrainian forces. Ukraine’s emergency services have said at least 11 people were killed, and 11 more wounded.
Thursday’s fresh areal assault included at least two dozen drones, allegedly Iranian-made, launched on southern Ukraine. Ukraine’s military said its anti-air defenses intercepted the drones. In the wake of the attack, Energy Minister Herman Halushchenko charged that Russia is seeking to “create a systemic failure in Ukraine’s energy system.”
“Emergency shutdowns have been introduced. The most difficult situation is currently in the regions of Kyiv, Odesa and Vinnytsia,” Galushchenko added. The energy ministry indicated that in the south, in the area of Odesa, “such a situation may last for several days until the damaged power facilities are restored.”
Moscow said that it will consider the Western tank deliveries as confirming the Western allies’ “direct involvement in the conflict.”
Additionally, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Wednesday in response to President Biden’s pledge to send 31 M1 Abrams to Ukraine that the US-made tanks will “burn”.

“I am certain that many experts understand the absurdity of this idea. The plan is disastrous in terms of technology,” Peskov said.
“But above all, it overestimates the potential it will add to the Ukrainian army. These tanks burn just like all the others.”

The U.S. and NATO Seem Hell Bent on Starting a Shooting War With Russia By Larry Johnson
January 26, 2023 at 7:00am – Let me give you a scenario. The United States military occupies Iraq and is trying to quash an Islamic insurgency. We then discover that Iran is providing weapons, vehicles and explosives to those Islamic rebels. Do you think the United States would see that as a casus belli to retaliate against Iran? You bet your ass Washington saw this as an act of war against the United States. The George W. Bush administration started providing funding and support to a terrorist groups in Iran, the MEK, and stepped up its denunciation of Iran as a terrorist state.
So why in the world of the sane does the United States and NATO think that they can send advanced weapons to Ukraine for the purpose of killing Russians. If we use the principle the U.S. followed in Iraq, Russia is fully entitled to treat the U.S. and NATO as supporters of terrorism. This is the principle of “What is good for the goose is good for the gander.”
Today’s media events, with the U.S. and Germany announcing they were going to send tanks — the M1 Abrams and Leopard 2 respectively — to Ukraine. But those tanks will not arrive any time soon. The Germans might be able to deliver the Leopard 2s to Kiev by the end of March, but that does not mean they are ready for the battlefield. The U.S. Army requires a prospective crew member of a tank to undergo 22 weeks of training (that is five and one-half months). Even with that training under one’s belt, the new tank crew needs at least two more months of unit training to learn how to fight with the tank in a company (there are 14 tanks in a U.S. Army company) and in a battalion (there are 3 tank companies in a battalion).
There is no place in Ukraine where the tank training can be done that is beyond the reach of Russia’s missiles. That means the Ukrainian soldiers who will be trained to operate these tanks will be away from Ukraine for at least six months, if not longer. Today’s announcement means that the M1 Abrams and Leopard 2s cannot be used in combat in Ukraine before next September unless they are being staffed by trained NATO soldiers.

This comes the same day that the US and Germany agreed to send the country more tanks.

Last week, war-monger Senator Lindsey Graham called for US tanks on the ground in Ukraine.
Lindsey wants war with nuclear Russia. And, Lindsey wants Putin eliminated.

Tens of thousands of fighters rounded up to fight in Ukraine for Wagner Group , the Russian private mercenary fighting corps, have gone missing or died, according to a Russian non-governmental organization. . . .
The statistic cited is just the latest indication that Wagner’s fighting force is falling apart in Ukraine, even as Russia works to secure wins on the battlefield almost one year after the invasion of Ukraine.
Wagner Group fighters have been involved in the heavy fighting in Soledar in recent weeks, a town in which Russia has claimed victory. Wagner has also been largely responsible for gains made in Bakhmut nearby, “at an extraordinary cost,” given that many of the Wagner recruits had minimal training since Wagner recruited 40,000 convicts, John Kirby, a White House National Security Council coordinator, told reporters last week.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky hinted at the dramatic losses the Russians are sustaining in Soledar in a recent speech as well.
