If you’ve been listening, rumors have been growing that real food shortages (not just shipping and supply chain issues) are already happening… and with drought conditions plaguing many regions of the world, sure to get worse. Government stimulus checks, unemployment benefits and eviction moratoriums resulting from ‘Ronasteria only exacerbates the problem. The fear and uncertainty driving people to spend more money than they could usually afford in an attempt to prepare for the worst is driving prices higher, and availability of existing commodities lower.
The old WWII campaign promoting so-called “Victory Gardens” was a common-sense approach to mitigating food supply issues by encouraging folks to grow at least a portion of their food themselves. But today’s politicians are desperate to convey a false sense of security, and to admit that people would be smart to relearn the agrarian skills of old doesn’t fit the narrative.
