Cognitive Bias

If one wants to get a feel for what the life of a musician is like, one might want to hear what an actual musician has to say about it. Similarly, one might want to hear the voices of those who have actually lived any other reality.

This doesn’t require that one puts full faith in what one hears, or actualize it in one’s worldview — that’s just gullibility. But everyone knows it’s good to stretch a bit before running a marathon — and if navigating the complexities and obfuscations of the world today isn’t a marathon, I don’t know what is.

It’s astounding how so many people get set in their perspectives as if their minds were encased in concrete, and they simply cannot move. Cognitive bias and unquestioning devotion to *any* perspective (especially those which are socially-sanctioned and popular) is the enemy of free thinking, and hamstrings one’s ability to make informed decisions. I try to avoid it like the plague.

I’m retiring from the music biz. But I’d still like to make a bit of a living. If you enjoy my writing and would like to support my efforts to bring more content to StringDancer, kindly toss a few bucks my way by clicking here:
