Pfizer and Moderna’s dilemma
Pfizer and Moderna have a problem — their COVID-19 shots do NOT work. Everyone knows this. The shots do not stop infection, transmission, hospitalization, or death.
Over half a billion doses of this product have been injected into Americans in the past 17 months and these shots have made NO discernible impact on the course of the pandemic. Far more Americans have died of coronavirus since the introduction of the shots than before they were introduced.
Pfizer and Moderna are making $50 billion a year on these shots and they want that to continue. So they need to reformulate the shots. Maybe target a new variant, maybe change some of the ingredients — who knows, these shots don’t work so it’s not clear what it will take to get them to work.
This is a problem because reformulated shots mean new clinical trials and new regulatory reviews by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). There is a decent chance that any reformulated shot might fail a new clinical trial and the public is deeply skeptical of these shots so the scrutiny would be intense.

The House Judiciary Committee is planning a vote on Thursday on a new wide-ranging package of gun control measures after multiple mass shootings have impacted cities across the nation.
The package of bills is known as the “Protecting our Kids” and was first reported by Punchbowl News.
The package would amend the legal age to purchase a semiautomatic rifle from 18 to 21 years of age. The measures would also establish new federal offenses for gun trafficking and for selling large-capacity magazines. The measures would also allow local governments to compensate individuals who surrender high-capacity magazines through a buyback program.
The new measures would additionally establish a new tax credit for the sale of safe storage devices. Also, they will establish new criminal penalties for breaking the proposed requirements on the storage of firearms in residential properties.
The package will likely pass the Democratic-controlled House but is unlikely to overcome a Republican-led filibuster in the Senate.

A federal appeals court earlier this month reinstated a Texas law that prohibits social media companies from banning users based on their political views.
U.S. District Judge Robert Pitman blocked the law in December after NetChoice and CCIA filed a lawsuit claiming that the law violated their right to free speech under the 1st Amendment of the U.S. Constitution. According to Judge Pitman, social media platforms are protected by the First Amendment and have the right to moderate content.
Governor Abbott signed the HB20 last September, prohibiting the social media giants from banning users based on their political views and requiring them to produce regular reports of removed content, create a complaint system, and disclose their content regulation procedures, according to Texas Tribune.
On Tuesday, the U.S. Supreme Court temporarily blocked the Texas media law in a 5-4 ruling.

Last Tuesday 18-year-old Salvador Ramos fatally shot 19 children and 2 adults at Robb Elementary School.
According to multiple reports, the shooter, Salvador Ramos, spent more than 40 minutes inside as loved ones and onlookers begged the police to charge into the building.
Police arrived 4 minutes after the shooting began, but Ramos continued on with his killing spree virtually uninterrupted.

A far-left activist group unveiled a massive display in central Israel Wednesday which featured the flag of the Palestine Liberation Organization next to the Israeli flag.
The flags were hung by Mehazkim: Fighting for a Progressive Israel, a self-described “digital movement” dedicated to promoting the “values, ideas, and solutions of the Israeli Left.”
Above the flags, the display features the text “We are meant to live together”.
The display was placed in central Ramat Gan, near the Israel Diamond Exchange, as part of a campaign by Mehazkim against a bill aimed at sanctioning Israeli schools which permit the flying of the PLO flag.
Israeli’s Ministerial Committee for Legislation voted on Sunday to back a bill by a Likud lawmaker which would punish schools which permit the flying of the PLO flag.
The bill was proposed following a demonstration at Ben-Gurion University, during which students waved Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) flags. During the demonstration, the university blocked those holding Israeli flags from entering the university campus, claiming this was necessary to preserve the peace.
The Bennett government has signaled that coalition MKs will be free to vote as they choose on the bill – a move which has drawn condemnation from some on the Left, including the Mehazkim organization.
