Loneliness Is an Epidemic   Analysis by Dr. Joseph Mercola

Don’t Overlook This, It Cuts Early Death Risk in Half

It’s not based on exercise or food, but please don’t overlook this as you age. Scientists have linked it to anxiety, dementia, stress, inflammation, poor sleep and addictions, and cardiologists know from experience exactly how crucial it is.

STORY AT-A-GLANCE

  • Loneliness has been at “epidemic” levels for several years. In a 2018 survey of Americans aged 18 and older, 46% reported “sometimes” or “always” feeling lonely
  • A World Health Organization study published in 2021 found loneliness affected up to 34% of older adults in China, Europe, Latin America and the U.S.
  • Other recent research found loneliness among adolescents ranged from a low of 9.2% in Southeast Asia to a high of 14.4% in the Eastern Mediterranean region. The highest rate — 21% — was found among elderly Eastern Europeans
  • Scientists have linked loneliness with a greater risk for obesity, heart disease, anxiety, dementia, stress, inflammation, reduced immune function, poor sleep and premature death
  • Loneliness is also associated with a greater risk of addiction, and the rate of deaths directly attributed to alcohol rose by more than 25% in 2020, the first year of the pandemic, when many were self-isolating and working from home. The trend continued into 2021, by then up 34% from pre-pandemic levels

Crushed Bug ‘Additive’ is Now Included in Pizza, Pasta & Cereals Across the EU   Paul Joseph Watson

Most people won’t even know they’re eating it.

25 January, 2023As of yesterday, a food additive made out of powdered crickets began appearing in foods from pizza, to pasta to cereals across the European Union.

Yes, really.

Defatted house crickets are on the menu for Europeans across the continent, without the vast majority of them knowing it is now in their food.

“This comes thanks to a European Commission ruling passed earlier this month,” reports RT.

“As per the decision, which cited the scientific opinion of the European Food Safety Authority, the additive is safe to use in a whole range of products, including but not limited to cereal bars, biscuits, pizza, pasta-based products, and whey powder.”

But don’t worry, because the crickets first have to be checked to make sure they “discard their bowel content” before being frozen.

[Ed.:  Can they “discard their bowel content” by squeezing the bugs?  If so, it must take a lot of bug-squeezing employees who don’t have carpal tunnel syndrome… But if not, a good machine squeeze would get most of it out, anyway, wouldn’t you think? In any case, the remaining bug excrement would get powdered, and it would contribute to the total nutritional value!]
