Camp Mystic, an all-girls summer camp that sits along the Guadalupe River, has confirmed that 27 campers and counselors died in weekend floods. Ten campers and one counselor are still unaccounted for.
* Search for survivors: Rescuers are still searching for dozens of missing people after terrifying floods.
* Upcoming forecast: The lingering storms in central Texas are expected to wind down by tonight, and it looks like it will be much drier Tuesday than the past several days. A handful of showers and thunderstorms could dot the region later tomorrow afternoon, but those storms aren’t likely to present much of a flood threat. This is also expected through the end of the week.

Former CIA top dog John Brennan is the poster child for the catastrophically widespread corruption of our intelligence apparatus, or at least of our intelligence apparatus before Donald Trump became president again. If this were indeed a land of impartial justice, and not one in which the prosecution of high-profile leftists would bring so much hysteria that Trump is a fascist dictator-in-the-making, that the firestorm could interfere with the implementation of his agenda, Brennan would be in prison today. That is the assessment of one of his former employees at the CIA, Bryan Dean Wright.
Wright wrote in Fox News on Thursday that Brennan “lied about his use of the discredited Steele dossier.” While telling the media that he didn’t think much of the dossier, which claimed that Vladimir Putin had evidence of compromising behavior Trump supposedly engaged in while in Moscow, Brennan “specifically pushed for the inclusion of the dossier in the ICA,” that is, the CIA’s Intelligence Community Assessment (ICA). He did so “despite explicit warnings from his top operational and analytical management that the dossier ‘didn’t meet the most basic [of] tradecraft standards.’ Brennan said he didn’t care.”
Brennan wanted the dossier included because it was a cornerstone of their false claim that Trump had colluded with Russia and gained the presidency with Putin’s illicit help. Brennan was behaving as a cutthroat partisan, not the intelligence professional he was supposed to be.
Wright details more of Brennan’s misdeeds, including his rushing of CIA analysts to produce the ICA so that he could use it against Trump as soon as his first term began. Such analyses “ordinarily can take months to prepare, especially for assessments of such length, complexity, and political sensitivity.” In this case, however, Brennan simply “didn’t care.” He wanted to be able to dog Trump from his first day in office, and he needed the ICA to do this.
Once he had the ICA, he did everything he could to make sure that it would be leaked, so as to ensure that it got maximum exposure from the leftist establishment’s propaganda arm, the mainstream media. Wright concludes that Brennan, along with the frankly unctuous former FBI top dog James Comey “and their fellow anti-Trumpers in the U.S. intel community intentionally tried to destroy the presidency of Donald Trump — with a tightly controlled, scripted, rushed, and poorly sourced ICA (and dossier).” And this was bigger than just Trump: “In doing so, they tried to destroy not just President Trump, but also the Republic itself. And that’s why this still matters.”
Brennan and co. didn’t care that America had voted for Trump. They didn’t care that his presidency was an expression of the will of the people. Like all authoritarian leftists, they were sure they knew better than the people. Brennan’s corruption and aid to America’s enemies go back years. Back in 2011, he oversaw the removal of all mention of “Islam” and “jihad” from counterterror training materials, hamstringing efforts to deal realistically with the jihad threat and violating the first and oldest rule of warfare: know your enemy.
As much of a vicious partisan attack dog back then as he proved to be when Trump became president, Brennan was a faithful servant of Barack Obama and his far-left agenda for years. He was, not surprisingly, one of the 51 top “intelligence professionals” who in October 2020 assured the world that Hunter Biden’s laptop, which contained clear evidence of the Biden crime family’s influence peddling as well as of Hunter’s out-of-control debauchery, was Russian disinformation.
The objective was to take the laptop away from Trump as a campaign issue, and it worked: during one of his debates with the president, Old Joe Biden invoked the assessment of the “intelligence professionals” to defuse the story. “There are 50 former national intelligence folks who said that what he’s accusing me of is a Russian plant,” Biden said, lying through his teeth. “Five former heads of the CIA, both parties, say what he’s saying is a bunch of garbage. Nobody believes it except his good friend Rudy Giuliani.”

Brennan’s lie about Hunter’s laptop echoed his earlier lies about Russian collusion. The statement of the “intelligence professionals” referred to “our view that the Russians are involved in the Hunter Biden email issue,” and added that “media reports say that the FBI has now opened an investigation into Russian involvement in this case.” The statement ends with this: “It is high time that Russia stops interfering in our democracy.”
Sheesh. Yeah, it sure is. And it’s also high time that Brennan faces justice for his anti-American actions. But if he ever did, the left would raise such a hue and cry that all their other hysterical fits would look like a philosophical disquisition. Nevertheless, Bryan Dean Wright is 100% correct: John Brennan belongs in the slammer.

HATE DOWN UNDER: Shul Set On Fire, Israeli Restaurant Attacked In Melbourne; One Suspect Arrested
July 5, 2025 Yeshiva World News – A frightening incident unfolded in Melbourne, Australia, on Friday night when a man set fire to the front door of the East Melbourne Hebrew Congregation, one of the city’s oldest shuls, while approximately 20 mispallelim were inside eating their Shabbos seudah.
B’chasdei Hashem, those inside were able to evacuate through the back of the building unharmed, and firefighters quickly extinguished the blaze before it could spread beyond the entrance.
Australian police announced on Sunday morning (local time) that they had arrested a 34-year-old suspect, who was charged with multiple serious offenses, including reckless conduct endangering life. Authorities said they are continuing to investigate the man’s motives and whether the crime should be classified as a terrorist attack.
Police are also investigating whether this arson attack is connected to two other deeply troubling antisemitic incidents that took place the same evening in Melbourne.
In one of those incidents, a group of approximately 20 anti-Israel rioters stormed Miznon, an Israeli-owned restaurant, overturning tables and smashing windows while shouting “Death to the IDF.” The group had gathered following a pro-Hamas demonstration nearby. Reports indicated the restaurant may have been singled out not only because of its Israeli ownership but also because its proprietor, Shahar Segal, is a spokesperson for the “Humanitarian Fund for Gaza,” an Israeli-American supported aid initiative.
Elsewhere in Melbourne, additional vehicles were set on fire and vandalized with antisemitic graffiti, raising even more concerns about a coordinated wave of anti-Jewish hatred. Police have so far not established a direct link among all three incidents.
Sasha Roytman, CEO of the Movement to Combat Antisemitism, described the attempted shul arson as “an attempted murder in every sense of the word” that miraculously ended without loss of life. He urged that the incident be treated as a terrorist attack.
“This is another escalation in the unprecedented wave of antisemitic events taking place in Australia,” Roytman said. “Since October 7, there has been a rise of hundreds of percent in the number of antisemitic and hate crimes. The Jewish community has lost its sense of personal security and fears the situation will escalate further.”
Roytman noted that a special emergency conference will soon be convened in Australia to give local leaders the tools to combat antisemitism at both the national and local level.
Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu sharply condemned the incidents:
“I view with great severity the antisemitic attacks that occurred last night in Melbourne, which included an attempted arson of a shul and a violent attack on an Israeli restaurant by pro-Palestinian rioters,” he said. “These despicable acts, shouting ‘Death to the IDF’ while trying to harm a place of worship, are severe hate crimes that must be uprooted. The State of Israel will continue to stand with the Jewish community in Australia, and we demand that the Australian government act in every way to bring the perpetrators to justice and prevent such attacks in the future.”

Melbourne Faces Night of Antisemitic Terror as Synagogue Set Ablaze, Restaurant Stormed
July 5, 2025 Jewish Breaking News – A coordinated wave of antisemitic attacks swept through Melbourne on Friday night, forcing Jewish worshippers to evacuate a historic synagogue while masked protesters terrorized diners at an Israeli restaurant just blocks away.
Around 20 Jewish families were celebrating Shabbat dinner at the East Melbourne Hebrew Congregation when an unknown man entered the grounds on Albert Street at 8pm, poured flammable liquid on the front doors and set them ablaze. Security cameras captured the bearded suspect, described as Caucasian and in his 30s, fleeing on foot after the attack.
Rabbi Dovid Gutnick was inside when congregation members noticed suspicious movement on their security feed. Someone began ringing the doorbell, then smoke started entering the building.
“I feel like if we didn’t have a fire station on the corner and if we weren’t as vigilant as we had been training ourselves to be, it could have been a lot worse,” Rabbi Gutnick tells ABC News.
Meanwhile, roughly 20 masked protesters stormed the Miznon restaurant on Hardware Lane, chanting “Death to the IDF” while hurling chairs and food at windows as customers dined inside and outside. Police arrested a 28-year-old woman for hindering police and released her on summons.
In Greensborough, unknown offenders struck a Para Road business at 4:30am Saturday, setting three cars ablaze and spray-painting vehicles and building walls. One car was destroyed, two others moderately damaged.
Acting Commander Zorka Dunstan revealed the Greensborough business had been the target of pro-Hamas activity over the past year, leading police to suspect connections between all three incidents.
Prime Minister Anthony Albanese condemned the attacks as “cowardly” and “an act of violence and antisemitism.”
“It is to be hoped that the perpetrator is brought to justice urgently, and that he faces the full force of the law, and anyone involved in this attack faces the full force of the law,” Albanese said.
Police Minister Anthony Carbines announced federal resources were backing the investigation: “Those who think they can set fire to a place of worship overnight that is full of worshippers, that is a heinous act, a horrific act, a criminal act and people will be held to account for it.”
Friday’s synagogue attack marks the second arson targeting a Jewish place of worship in Melbourne since December, when two masked men destroyed the Adass Israel Synagogue in Ripponlea using accelerant spread throughout the building with brooms. That attack injured one worshipper and caused extensive damage. No charges have been filed despite ongoing counter-terrorism investigations.
