They chose Israel over the Arab world. Israel chose them back.   JOSHUA HOFFMAN

The Druze are the most loyal minority in the Middle East, and Israel is the country that protects them.

May 4, 2025

In a region often defined by sectarian strife, the relationship between the State of Israel and the Druze community stands as a profound and enduring exception — a brotherhood forged not by convenience, but by loyalty, shared destiny, and mutual respect.

The Druze religious community began in the 10th century as an offshoot of Ismaili Shiite Islam but quickly developed into a unique, secretive ethno-religious group with its own theology and culture. One of its core tenets is loyalty to the country of residence, a survival strategy that made the Druze adept at balancing identity and citizenship across changing empires.

Leading up to the State of Israel’s founding in 1948, the Arab world was mobilizing for war against the nascent Jewish state. The prevailing expectation among Arab leaders, Arab citizens of Mandatory Palestine, and even many Jewish officials was that the Druze, as Arabic-speaking villagers located primarily in the Galilee and Carmel, would join their Muslim and Christian neighbors in opposing Israel’s creation.

But Druze leadership saw the situation differently.

Sheikh Amin Tarif, the most revered spiritual and communal leader of the Druze in Mandatory Palestine, was faced with a defining choice: align with the Arab League’s call for pan-Arab resistance, or chart an independent course with the nascent Jewish state.

Tarif was no Zionist. His primary concern was the safety, autonomy, and survival of his people. He understood that the Druze, a small religious minority often treated with suspicion or indifference in the Arab world, would be little more than cannon fodder in a war they didn’t start.

Secret meetings took place between Druze elders and representatives of the Haganah, the precursor to the Israel Defense Forces. While many Arab villages openly declared hostility toward Jewish communities, several Druze villages pledged neutrality or even cooperation. In return, Jewish forces agreed not to target Druze areas — and to treat them as potential allies, not enemies.

Sheikh Amin Tarif’s decision to remain neutral in the early phases of the war, and later to side openly with Israel, changed history. He persuaded Druze villages to avoid participation in the Arab revolt, helped facilitate safe passage for IDF units in strategic northern Israel areas, and cultivated an enduring relationship with Israeli Jewish leaders, including David Ben-Gurion (Israel’s founding prime minister).

In 1949, Sheikh Tarif made that alignment official. He visited the Knesset (Israeli parliament), recognized Israel’s sovereignty, and affirmed the Druze community’s desire to live as full citizens of the state. It was a groundbreaking move. While other Arab leaders were denouncing Israel’s existence using genocidal diction, Sheikh Tarif was inviting his community to help build it.

This decision came at a cost. The Druze were condemned by Arab nationalist movements, ostracized in some regional circles, and accused of betrayal by fellow Arabs. But the bet Sheikh Tarif placed, that Israel would treat the Druze as loyal citizens and not second-class subjects, proved correct.

In 1956, at the request of Druze leaders themselves, military service in the IDF became compulsory for Druze men. No other non-Jewish community in Israel has embraced such full integration into the defense establishment.

The Druze have served with distinction in virtually every branch of the IDF, often in elite combat roles. Some examples include:

  • Brigadier General Amal Asad – A highly respected Druze officer who served as deputy commander of the Northern Command. He was one of the first Druze to reach the rank of brigadier general and helped develop cross-border security doctrine along the Lebanese border.
  • Colonel Ghassan Alian – The first Druze officer to command the elite Golani Brigade, one of the most prestigious and heavily deployed units in the IDF. He led troops during Operation Protective Edge in Gaza in 2014.
  • Lieutenant Colonel Ayoub Kara – A former senior officer in IDF intelligence who later became a Likud Knesset Member and served as Communications Minister. Kara often used his Druze Arabic to build bridges in Israeli foreign relations, particularly with Gulf states and minorities in Syria and Lebanon.
  • The Herev Battalion – A now-disbanded, majority-Druze combat unit that served on the northern frontlines. Many Druze soldiers have since opted to serve in mixed or elite units, reflecting their full integration.
  • IDF Intelligence (Aman) and Unit 8200 actively recruit Druze Arabic speakers, whose dialect and cultural familiarity with neighboring Syrian and Lebanese communities offer critical intelligence advantages. These Druze operatives have played vital roles in monitoring Hezbollah, infiltrating Arabic-language networks, and providing real-time translation in psychological warfare and counter-terror operations.

There are also the Mista’arvim units, made up of elite operatives who pose as Arabs to conduct counter-terrorism operations in Palestinian areas. Mista’arvim relies heavily on native or near-native Arabic fluency, cultural familiarity, and physical appearance that allows operatives to blend seamlessly into Arab communities. This makes Druze soldiers especially valuable assets to these units.

Druze Arabic is distinct from Palestinian dialects, but Druze operatives grow up immersed in Arabic culture and language, giving them the kind of linguistic intuition and nuance that no classroom training can replicate. Many also grow up in mixed or adjacent communities, developing a deep understanding of cultural norms, family structures, and street dynamics within Arab society — critical for undercover work.

While the exact composition of these elite units is classified, it is well known in military and intelligence circles that Druze soldiers have served with distinction in Mista’arvim operations, particularly in:

  • Surveillance and intelligence gathering within Judea and Samaria (also known as the West Bank) and East Jerusalem hotspots
  • Counter-terror raids in urban centers, where blending in is key to surprise and success
  • Interrogation and human intelligence roles, where dialect and demeanor are critical

This role isn’t without complexity. For some Druze families, particularly those with relatives in Syria or Lebanon, serving in units that operate in Arab territories or against Arab populations requires careful internal navigation. Yet the overall Druze ethos of loyalty to the state and defense of Israel means that Druze participation in these undercover units is widely respected and encouraged within their community.

Israeli Druze have also risen through the ranks of Israel’s police, judiciary, and government. From border police commanders to Knesset members, Druze citizens have played integral roles in Israel’s civic and national life.

In return, Israel has recognized the Druze community as a loyal and valued minority, investing in Druze towns, recognizing Druze religious courts, and honoring Druze fallen alongside Jewish ones.

This deep integration is even more remarkable when contrasted with the situation of the Druze in neighboring countries — especially Syria.

Today, the global Druze population numbers around one million, with more than half residing in Syria, primarily in the southern Sweida province and in suburbs around Damascus such as Jaramana and Ashrafiyat Sahnaya. The remainder are scattered across Lebanon and Israel, with about 150,000 Druze living inside Israel and in the Golan Heights, which was captured from Syria in the 1967 Six-Day War and later annexed.

In Syria, the Druze have long walked a tightrope, accommodating authoritarian regimes while trying to protect their distinct religious identity and local autonomy. The outbreak of the Syrian civil war in 2011, and the subsequent rise of Islamist factions hostile to religious minorities, placed Syria’s Druze under grave threat. Sectarian violence, kidnappings, and massacres followed, often ignored by the international community.

Recent events brought renewed urgency to this historical relationship. As sectarian tensions flared in southern Syria, particularly in the Sweida region, and amid new Islamist threats to the Druze population there, Israel acted — not just with words, but with unmistakable resolve.

On May 3rd, the IDF confirmed an airstrike near the palace of Ahmed Hussein al-Sharaa in Damascus. Though the exact target was not revealed, Israeli officials made the motive clear. In a joint statement, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Israel Katz emphasized: “Israel will not allow any harm to happen to the Druze community.”

Katz later elaborated, warning Syria’s leadership that Israel is determined to protect the Druze: “When Sharaa wakes up in the morning and sees the results of the Israeli airstrike, he will understand well that Israel is determined to prevent harm to the Druze in Syria.”

But Israel’s support wasn’t limited to military deterrence. In an unprecedented act of cross-border humanitarian solidarity, the Israeli Air Force dispatched a helicopter carrying aid to the embattled Druze population of Sweida — reportedly the first time aid has been delivered in this manner. This move underscored the sincerity of Israel’s vow: to treat the Druze of Syria not as foreign others, but as family.

Israel’s Druze community has long referred to their Syrian co-religionists as “brothers,” and this is not metaphor. It is a bond reinforced by shared language, history, culture, and blood. It is also a bond sanctified by the Druze community’s guiding principle of taqiyya — prudence in the face of threat — and its parallel value of loyalty to protectors and friends.

For Israel, the Druze are more than citizens; they are partners in the Zionist story. The Jewish People, long treated as strangers in the lands of their birth, now extend protection to another vulnerable people fighting for their existence. In a world where alliances are too often transactional, the Israeli-Druze brotherhood offers a rare example of trust earned, loyalty reciprocated, and kinship lived out through action.

As the fires of sectarianism rage just beyond Israel’s borders, the State of Israel has once again made its position clear: It will not stand idle while its Druze brothers face annihilation. Through decisive military deterrence and humanitarian outreach, Israel has demonstrated that this brotherhood is not symbolic; it is strategic, emotional, and profoundly human.

In defending the Druze of Syria, Israel is not merely protecting a minority. It is honoring a bond, affirming a shared fate, and upholding the moral clarity that comes from remembering who stood by you — when few others would.

And it also reveals something else: Israel’s core values.

In a region where loyalty is often transactional, and where minorities are routinely persecuted, Israel’s commitment to the Druze (both inside and outside its borders) demonstrates moral clarity in a landscape clouded by double standards and shifting alliances. While others weaponize sectarianism, Israel protects a vulnerable religious minority, one with whom it shares not ethnicity or religion, but mutual respect, civic partnership, and shared sacrifice.

Israel did not have to fly aid to the Druze of Sweida. It chose to. It did not have to issue warnings to Damascus over threats to Druze civilians. It chose to. These are not the actions of a cynical “occupier” — but of a nation guided by principle, even when doing so risks criticism, complication, and confrontation.

In standing by the Druze, Israel stands by its values: loyalty to its allies, protection of the vulnerable, and a refusal to abandon those who have stood by its side. That’s not just solidarity. It speaks to the soul of our Jewish nation, and what sets Israel apart.

NETANYAHU VOWS RETALIATION FOR HOUTHI MISSILE STRIKE ON BEN GURION, BLAMES IRAN AS THE SOURCE BEHIND THE ATTACK; PRESIDENT TRUMP ALSO WARNED IRAN: HOUTHI ATTACKS WILL BE TREATED AS IRANIAN AGGRESSION

[12:40 PM, 5/4/2025] +972 50-997-7784   Israel Realtime

🇮🇱 Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu declared that Israel will respond to the recent Houthi missile strike on Ben Gurion International Airport, stating unequivocally: “Attacks by the Houthis emanate from Iran. Israel will respond to the Houthi attack against our main airport and, at a time and place of our choosing, to their Iranian terror masters.”

During a high-level security meeting, Netanyahu emphasized that the Houthis act as Iran’s proxy force, saying, “The Houthi attacks are Iranian attacks — Iran uses them as a proxy to spread terror and undermine the regional and global order. The Houthis are the arm — the head is Iranian.” He added that the world must hold Iran accountable for these actions, stressing, “Israel has the right to defend itself, and it will exercise this right at a time of its choosing.”

🇺🇸 In a strong message establishing deterrence, President Trump directly warned Iran over its support for the Houthi rebels, following continued attacks attributed to the group. Trump declared that Tehran will now be held accountable for every future Houthi assault, signaling a major shift in U.S. policy regarding Iranian-backed militias.

DONALD TRUMP: “Let nobody be fooled! The hundreds of attacks being made by Houthi, the sinister mobsters and thugs based in Yemen, who are hated by the Yemeni people, all emanate from, and are created by, IRAN. Any further attack or retaliation by the ‘Houthis’ will be met with great force, and there is no guarantee that that force will stop there. Iran has played ‘the innocent victim’ of rogue terrorists from which they’ve lost control, but they haven’t lost control. They’re dictating every move, giving them the weapons, supplying them with money and highly sophisticated Military equipment, and even, so-called, ‘Intelligence.’ Every shot fired by the Houthis will be looked upon, from this point forward, as being a shot fired from the weapons and leadership of IRAN, and IRAN will be held responsible, and suffer the consequences, and those consequences will be dire!”

🎗️ IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir, during a visit to the elite Shayetet 13 naval commando unit, declared a significant escalation in military operations against Hamas. He announced that tens of thousands of reserve personnel are being mobilized this week to expand IDF action in Gaza. “We are increasing the pressure to return our ‘people’ held hostage and defeat Hamas,” Zamir stated. He added that the IDF will broaden its operational zones and is committed to dismantling all of Hamas’s infrastructure, both above and below ground.

▪️ Prime Minister Netanyahu convened a meeting yesterday to deliberate a proposal aimed at canceling the circulation of 200-shekel bills in Gaza. The discussion included Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich, Minister Gideon Sa’ar, and the Governor of the Bank of Israel. The initiative is reportedly part of broader efforts to restrict illicit financial flows and undermine terror funding within the region.

🔹 United Airlines has now joined several international carriers in suspending flights to Israel following a ballistic missile attack from Yemen that struck near Ben Gurion. The situation has caused widespread concern in the aviation sector, with more airlines expected to reassess their routes in light of recent escalations.

[3:54 PM, 5/4/2025] +972 50-997-7784  Israel Realtime

🟥 Earlier today, a missile launched from Yemen landed in an open area near Ben-Gurion Airport. The IDF Spokesperson reported that an initial investigation, led by the Israeli Air Force Commander, revealed no malfunction in the detection systems, interceptor deployment procedures, or Homefront Command alert mechanisms. Instead, the assessment concluded that the likely cause was a technical failure in the interceptor missile that was launched to counter the threat.

Since the start of the war, the Israeli Air Force has intercepted dozens of missiles fired from Yemen, maintaining a success rate of over 95%. Despite today’s interception failure, Israeli defense capabilities remain highly effective and alert.

Following the incident, the United States has reportedly approved an Israeli military response inside Yemen. In anticipation of a possible retaliation, the Houthi rebels have evacuated Sanaa International Airport, signaling their concern over an imminent Israeli strike.

The Israeli government has formally instructed the IDF to draw up operational attack plans targeting Houthi assets in Yemen. The Israeli Air Force, in coordination with other defense agencies, is actively preparing a range of strike alternatives, which will be submitted to the government for approval in the coming hours.

In a bold escalation, the Yemeni Houthis—have announced their intention to impose a comprehensive aerial siege on Israel. Their statement, issued in response to what they described as Israel’s expanded military aggression in Gaza, specifically threatens repeated attacks on Israeli airports, naming Lod Airport, commonly known as Ben Gurion Airport, as the primary target.

The Houthis warned that “all international airlines are urged to take this statement seriously as of the moment of its announcement and publication,” calling on carriers to cancel all flights to Israeli airports in order to ensure the safety of passengers and aircraft. Framing their campaign as a response to Israeli “escalation,” the group vowed continued resistance, declaring: “This nation will not fear confrontation and will reject submission and surrender.”

‼️ In a powerful and unprecedented move, President Trump stated clearly during an NBC interview that Iran must undergo a “total dismantlement” of its nuclear program, specifically referencing the dismantling of its centrifuge plants. This is the first time Trump has issued such a demand in his own voice, rather than through senior officials or associates. His statement directly aligns with Israel’s long-standing position on Iran’s nuclear threat, marking a significant and positive shift in U.S. policy from Israel’s perspective. The directness of Trump’s remarks underscores a firmer U.S. stance on preventing Iran from advancing its nuclear ambitions, particularly during a time of heightened regional tensions.

🔹 Iranian Defense Minister Aziz Nasirzadeh issued a warning regarding Tehran’s stance on regional conflict. While asserting that “We have no animosity toward neighboring countries,” he added a sharp caveat: “But if we are attacked and war is imposed on us, we will respond forcefully and strike the enemy’s bases and interests. American bases are our legitimate targets.”

IDF Airstrike on Sunni Jihadis Saves Druze   By Hugh Fitzgerald

May 3, 2025 – The Druze are ethnically Arab, but practice a religion that is an offshoot of Islam. Sunni Muslims regard them as non-Muslims, and mistreat them accordingly. Right now, the de facto President of Syria, Ahmed Al-Sharaa, has been insisting that in the new Syria, all minorities — the Kurds, Druze, Christians, and Alawites — will be treated as equals with the majority Sunni Muslims. But this claim has not assuaged the alarm felt by those minorities, particularly after the massacre of more than 1,000 Alawites (some Alawites claim there were tens of thousands killed) in Latakia by Sunnis who resent the Alawite support for the regime of Bashar Assad, himself an Alawite. Al-Sharaa’s promise to find those responsible for the attack on the Alawites has so far not led to any arrests.

As for the Druze, they regard with deep mistrust the new regime’s demand that they surrender control of their own militia, which would then be folded within the national army, subject to the control of Sunni Arab officers. The Druze have rejected the offer, well aware that there are only two parties that they can count on for protection. Their own militia is one of the parties; the other is the IDF, which has repeatedly said that it will protect the Druze from attack. This has made the Druze, both those living in the Golan Heights that were annexed by Israel in 1981, and those living inside Syria, in Druze villages just north of the Golan, much more favorable to Israel. The Assad regime fell on December 8, 2024, and by December 13, representatives of six Druze villages had asked that they be annexed by Israel. One Druze village, Hadar, even took a vote among all of its inhabitants; they voted overwhelmingly to be annexed by Israel. It hasn’t happened yet, but it could if the situation in Syria degenerates further.

There has already been an exchange of gunfire, when the false rumor spread that a Druze leader had been recorded denouncing Muhammad. The charge was false; the voice on the recording was not that of the Druze leader. But the fake recording was no doubt made by Sunnis wanting to stir up anger at the Druze. And that’s what happened. Dozens of Sunnis descended on the Druze village of Jaramana; when the fight ended, six Druze and six Sunnis were dead; seventeen others, both Druze and Sunnis, were wounded.

Now the IDF has carried out what it calls a “warning airstrike” against a Sunni group that was threatening Druze in villages just south of Damascus, stopping them in their tracks. More on this IDF move to protect the Druze can be found here.

Israel said it carried out a strike in Syria against extremists who attacked members of the Druze community, following through on a promise to protect the minority group as sectarian violence spread near Damascus on Wednesday.

It appeared to be Israel‘s first military action in support of Syrian Druze since Bashar al-Assad was toppled, reflecting its deep mistrust of the Sunni Islamists who replaced him and posing a further challenge to interim President Ahmed al-Sharaa’s efforts to establish control over the fractured nation.

A Syrian Interior Ministry source told Reuters Israeli drone strikes targeted government security forces, killing one of their members, in the mainly Druze town of Sahnaya on Damascus’ outskirts. The Druze adhere to a faith that is an offshoot of Islam and have followers in Syria, Lebanon, and Israel.

But what were government security forces, Sunni Muslims, doing in the largely Druze town of Sahnaya, if not there to intimidate the local Druze? The IDF was alerted to the ongoing attack in the town, either by its own agents on the ground, or from what its drones picked up, or most likely, from the Druze themselves, who had already suffered an attack on the Druze village of Jaramana, and had just endured another attack on the Druze village of Sahnaya. The IDF at once went into action with a “warning operation” with a drone that struck what Prime Minister Netanyahu called “an extremist group” as they were about to launch another attack on the Druze in Sahnaya.

In a statement, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Israel Katz said the Israeli military had carried out “a warning operation and struck an extremist group” as it prepared to continue an attack on Druze in Sahnaya.

“At the same time, a message was passed on to the Syrian regime – Israel expects it to act in order to prevent harm to the Druze,” they said….

Israel’s no-nonsense message to Damascus: you must prevent any harm coming to the Druze, or we will do it instead. Pull up your socks, Ahmed Al-Sharaa, shape up and fly right. Because if you don’t protect the Druze, then we in Israel will do it for you, and — it didn’t have to be spelled out, but Al-Sharaa would know what the Israelis meant — we might have to annex Druze villages, allowing them to become part of Israel for their own wellbeing. After all, six Druze villages have been clamoring for that annexation since December 13, 2024.

If ‘Oslo is dead’ – then why is it alive?   Mordechai Sones

If Judea and Samaria don’t draw this line, there are no more lines for Israel to draw.  Opinion.

Jun 23, 2019, 10:14 AM (GMT+3)  Israel National News – As far back as 1996, various commentators have pointed out that no matter how many violations of Oslo occur, no matter how many times Oslo is declared dead, Oslo itself is never nullified, and the “peace process” goes on. The Palestinian Authority and its control of “areas A and B” – and their takeover of Area C – continues no matter how many violations it commits.

Apparently, diplomats call Oslo an “agreement,” but use it as a smokescreen for the inexorable transfer of Judea, Samaria, and Gaza to PA control, notwithstanding continuous PA violations that would have invalidated any real treaty years ago.

This is because Oslo is not a treaty to be enforced, but a diplomatic mask for a policy of abandonment of Biblical Israel to the Palestinian Authority. People keep saying Oslo is dead, but what they have not yet realized is that Oslo as a treaty was never alive; Oslo was a cosmetic for a policy of abandonment. And abandonment continues today.

With Oslo “dead,” American and Israeli diplomats continue to invent one new “peace process” activity after another at an ever-faster pace to mask the abandonment policy: Once it was the Mitchell Report, the Tenet Plan, and George Bush’s speech supporting Palestinian statehood. Shimon Peres energetically manufactured the appearance of a “peace process” by meeting Arafat, pretending he could deliver a signature that might protect Israel.

Now it is President Donald Trump’s Deal of the Century that a Saudi official today said “leads to Palestinian statehood”.

Not all masks for abandonment are diplomatic, however. In addition to diplomatic and military masks for abandonment, Israeli government officials also use semantic masks. For example, officials periodically invent new-and-improved terminologies for abandonment: land for peace, withdrawal from areas A and B, redeployment, “painful concessions”, settlement blocks, “unilateral separation”, and the most recent favorite, the “Deal of the Century”.

Netanyahu, like Sharon and Barak before him, is expending diplomatic and military energy to make a policy of abandonment look like a “peace process”. This is because the political majority supporting a “peace process” would disappear once it understood it was being deceived into supporting an abandonment process.

This may explain why despite the many assertions that Oslo is dead, nevertheless, Israeli and U.S. officials stage more meaningless activities to pretend that some kind of “peace process” is still alive.

1. Many Israelis do not perceive the sacrifice of Biblical Israel, the Jordan River defensive line, and the dominating strategic mountain ridge as a desirable goal, but would still concede it as a bitter sacrifice, necessary for peace. They would, however, oppose a policy of abandonment – if they recognized it.

2. Many other Israelis wish Oslo were dead. The “Oslo IS dead” rhetoric helps them cling to the belief that Netanyahu intends to keep Biblical Israel. However, tough accountability measures will be needed to prevent Netanyahu’s potential complicity in the sudden eviction of Yesha.

Thus, the significant numbers of people who still cling to the peace process provide political cover for an abandonment process that they would revolt against if they really understood what was taking place.

Because Judea and Samaria have not been providing the answer, the answer is being provided for them, which will further demoralize them once the promises from the upcoming election campaigns dissipate and Right-leaning voters realize once again they’ve been had. Unless they draw the line, it will be drawn for them in an indefensible way.

The world recognizes people’s right to defend their homes against aggression, and once they fail to defend those homes, the world also recognizes that they have forfeited the legitimacy of their claims to them. In 1948 the Arabs were told by their own armies to run and they ran. By the world’s criteria, they lost their claim to the land when they ran.

Judea and Samaria’s willingness to expose bureaucratic masks for abandonment is Yesha’s key to survival at this point. By exposing covert eviction preparations, such as the Oslo-mandated and Israel-agreed-upon presence of Palestinian Authority armored vehicles in the vicinity of Jewish communities in Judea and Samaria, Yesha can sweep away the threat of eviction with public exposure and the subsequent political outcry.

If Judea and Samaria don’t draw this line, there are no more lines for Israel to draw.

[Ed.:  Catchy slogans like ‘Oslo is dead’ and ‘Never again’  serve to gaslight the public into believing the opposite of what’s true.  The ‘Oslo Agreement’ was never dead.  ‘Never again’ translates to again and again, all day, every day.]

🚨 ISRAEL TO MOBILIZE 60,000 RESERVISTS AS IDF PREPARES MAJOR OFFENSIVE IN GAZA TO PRESSURE HAMAS INTO HOSTAGE EXCHANGE; IDF STRIKES SYRIAN MILITARY INFRASTRUCTURE, EVACUATES WOUNDED DRUZE CIVILIANS TO ISRAEL FOR TREATMENT

May 5, 2025   Israel Realtime

‼️ The IDF announced it is issuing tens of thousands of call-up orders to reservists this evening, as Israel prepares for a significant escalation of its military operation in Gaza. Israeli media report that the military plans to call up around 60,000 reservists to support the expanded campaign.

On Friday, during a high-level security consultation, the IDF presented Prime Minister Netanyahu with its offensive strategy, which will require large-scale mobilization. The plan has already been authorized by Netanyahu and is expected to go before Israel’s security cabinet tomorrow for a formal vote.

Currently, three IDF divisions are operating inside Gaza. Military officials have clarified that the goal of the ongoing operation is to intensify pressure on Hamas to agree to a hostage exchange, not to eliminate the group at this stage. However, they have warned that if no deal is reached soon, the IDF will launch a full-scale offensive aimed at defeating Hamas.  [Emphasis added]

[Ed.:  Military officials are still gaslighting us!  How much further can they pull our leg? How much longer will they play this hostage game? IT’S NOT “THE WAR IN GAZA”, IT’S THE “WAR OF HOSTAGES”.]

As part of this expanded phase, Israeli forces are expected to enter new areas of the Gaza Strip. The reservists being called up are expected to begin reporting for duty over the coming week.

The IDF reiterated that bringing home the 59 hostages still held by Hamas is the war’s top priority, with the defeat of the terror group listed as the secondary objective.

💥 Overnight, the IDF conducted a series of targeted airstrikes across Syria, hitting key military infrastructure, including anti-aircraft cannons and surface-to-air missile launchers. These operations aimed to neutralize threats to Israeli airspace and security. During the strikes, the Commanding Officer of the Israeli Air Force and the Northern Command were operating from the IAF’s Underground Operations Center, overseeing the mission in real time.

At the same time, five injured Syrian-Druze civilians, wounded in Syrian territory, were evacuated by Israel to Ziv Medical Center in Safed for medical treatment. The IDF remains fully deployed in southern Syria and continues to monitor developments closely, with a high level of readiness to prevent any infiltration by hostile forces into the area of Druze villages.

🇮🇱 Israel is reportedly weighing the establishment of a field hospital in the Israeli-controlled area of Syria, according to i24 News. The proposed facility would be set up to treat wounded Druze civilians in the event of intensified fighting in the region. Israeli security officials emphasized that this move is a humanitarian precaution aimed at protecting vulnerable communities near the border.

🎯 On Friday, soldiers from the elite Duvdevan Unit, operating on intelligence, carried out a targeted mission in the Balata area of Nablus (Judea and Samaria) to apprehend a senior terrorist. During the operation, Omar Mustafa Abu al-Leil—a prominent member of the Balata terrorist network—was located and eliminated. He had been involved in several shooting attacks against IDF soldiers in the region, though no injuries were reported, and played a central role in supplying weapons to terror networks in both Nablus and Jenin. Abu al-Leil was also known for sheltering and assisting wanted suspects. During the raid, soldiers found a gun and magazines in his vehicle. Another terrorist present in the house was arrested and transferred for further questioning.

▪️SOCIAL MEDIA INCITEMENT ARRESTS – IDF forces arrested two suspects in Judea and Samaria last night for incitement on social media, who called for continued arsons and attacks throughout the region: The first suspect, a resident of Nablus, posted content on social media in connection with the fires, in which he expressed support for the murder of Jews. The second suspect, a resident of Tubas, posted incitement in a similar vein, including calls for violence, continued arsons, and open support for Hamas activity.

▪️GAZA AID – Per Axios, the US, Israel and representatives of a new international fund are close to an agreement to resume the transfer of humanitarian aid to Palestinians in Gaza – without Hamas controlling it.

🔹HELPING THE SYRIAN DRUZE – An Air Force transport helicopter last night landed equipment and humanitarian aid for the Druze in the area of As-Suwayda, the Druze mountain, about 70 km from Israeli territory and far from the area that the IDF occupies as a security zone in southern Syria.  One report says it was weapons delivered.

.. Ziv Hospital in Safed: Since Independence Day, 21 wounded people from Syria have been evacuated to the medical center, 6 of whom were released back to Syria today.

🔹SYRIANS ARREST POPULAR FRONT LEADER? Talab Naji, the secretary-general of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine-General Command, was arrested by Syrian regime forces in Damascus, and the terror organizations offices have been closed.

🔹LEBANON THREATENS – – HAMAS?  We will not allow any violation of sovereignty – we will act forcefully against any attack from our territory, to Hamas exiles living in Lebanon.

🎗️HOSTAGE DEAL NEWS – Prime Minister’s Office:   Reports in the Arab media that Israel supposedly rejected the Egyptian proposal presented to it are baseless.  Hamas was and remains the obstacle to the deal.

🚀ON EARLY ALERTS – over the last few days we’ve had a chance to see the fixed early alert system in action (unfortunately).

.. Tzofar alert app now has settings to select “Flash Updates” for your area only or all areas, and a selection of new “short tones”.  Working well, gave us an actual 6 minutes warning early Shabbat morning.

.. Home Front Command alert app now is pinging with a “Flash Update” only for your selected area or areas.  Works as described, but only gives a “bing” normal phone notification tone and pop-up message – which is limiting on Shabbat if you are not seeing the screen when the notification comes in and don’t want to touch the phone.

But in both cases, 5-6 minute warning received and only when my area.  I consider the feature now recommended.

🌎WORLD NEWS OF NOTE.. US to stop mediating talks between Russia and Ukraine after Russia failed to respond to many offers.

Iran Executes 34-Year-Old Accused Of Spying for Israel

May 1, 2024  Israel Breaking News – Iranian authorities executed a 34-year-old political prisoner on Wednesday following his conviction on charges of spying for Israel’s Mossad intelligence agency.

Iranian security forces allege Mohsen Langarneshin was turned by Israeli intelligence in late 2020, holding secret meetings with Mossad operatives in Georgia and Nepal. The charges against him included gathering intelligence on senior officials, mapping targeted locations, and acquiring operational tools to assist in the May 2022 assassination of IRGC officer Hassan Sayyad Khodaei, who was shot by gunmen on motorcycles outside his Tehran home.

According to Iran International, Langarneshin’s family contested the allegations, asserting his confession was coerced through physical and psychological torture. Despite three appeals for a retrial, Iranian courts rejected their requests.

In a voice message recorded from prison before his execution, Langarneshin described being threatened during interrogations: “They put me under so much pressure. They said they would arrest every member of my family and keep them until I no longer recognize them.”

He maintained he was “forced into making false confessions, including to buying a motorcycle equipped with a camera and transporting explosive materials.”

Since the Islamic Republic’s founding in 1979, international observers have cataloged widespread abuse of political detainees in Iranian prisons, frequently causing lasting physical trauma or death.

“The Islamic Republic has used televised confessions as a propaganda tool aimed at creating fear and justifying the heavy sentences handed down to its political opponents and activists since its inception in 1979,” stated Iran Human Rights Watch. “Such confessions are extracted after physical and/or psychological torture, lengthy solitary confinement, threats or promises of reduction in the gravity of sentences and threats against family members.”

The IDF Death Cult and Smart Fires  [39:13 fast-forward to 19:49 for Smart Fires]   Chananya Weissman

May 1, 2025 – Thanks to a reader for sharing this map of the fires. Quite a coincidence that they are all in the same places where “Yemenite rockets” magically land…never in Caesarea.

Fires have really gotten smart.

People, not so much.

Do you really believe a few Arabs from East Jerusalem are responsible for all this? Have a look at this:

[Ed.:  He is referring to ‘Directed Energy’ caused fires as we saw in Lahaina and Los Angeles.  18 or even 36 musloid terrorist arsonists (and there were that sort,) couldn’t have perpetrated all of that!]

Tortured and Killed: Israeli-American Held Hostage for Hours and Beaten to Death in Los Angeles

Initial investigations suggest that the break in was a deliberate and planned act involving kidnapping and severe violence.

Alexander Modvadze, a well-known figure in the Los Angeles Israeli-American community. Modvadze, who had lived in Woodland Hills for the past 15 years, was a respected businessman in the local Israeli-American community. Neighbors described him as sociable and friendly, noting he had no visible conflicts.

Woodland Hills is considered an upscale and generally safe neighborhood with low crime rates. “This is usually a very peaceful area. You almost never see police activity here, let alone hear about a murder,” said a local resident.

Two Israeli Men murdered in Los Angeles within 24 hours; Possible link under investigation

Two Israeli men were found murdered in separate incidents in Los Angeles within a 24-hour span, sparking parallel homicide investigations. Authorities are probing potential links between the cases while urging the public to remain vigilant as suspects remain at large in one of the killings.

BY:Eliana Fleming, JFeed, April 30. 2025:

Los Angeles authorities are investigating two separate murders of Israeli men that occurred within 24 hours of each other, raising concerns and questions within the community. Though investigators have yet to establish a connection between the two cases, both incidents have prompted heightened police activity and public alert.

The first victim, Alexander Modvedze, a 47-year-old Israeli-American entrepreneur, was killed during a violent home invasion at his Woodland Hills residence. According to the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD), three suspects, identified as Georgian nationals Fata Kochiashvili, 38; Zaza Otarashvili, 46; and Besiki Khotsishvili, 52, forcibly entered Modvedze’s home, held him captive for several hours, and subjected him to a brutal assault that ultimately led to his death. The assailants fled the scene with stolen valuables. With the assistance of the FBI, LAPD officers swiftly apprehended the suspects: Kochiashvili was arrested in Van Nuys, while Otarashvili and Khotsishvili were located in Glendale. All three are currently being held on $2 million bail each.
Authorities indicated that Modvedze appeared to have been deliberately targeted, as neighbors reported unfamiliar individuals entering his home late at night. Modvedze, who had lived in the Woodland Hills area for approximately 15 years, was well-regarded within the local Israeli community and described by neighbors as personable and friendly.

Later that same day, LAPD officers discovered the body of Manny Haidra, a well-known businessman and the brother of Lieutenant Gondar Moshe Haidra, director of Israel’s Nitzan Detention Center. Haidra was found dead in his Valley Village apartment on Riverside Drive after family members, concerned about his lack of communication, requested a welfare check. Responding officers found Haidra unresponsive, and paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene. The circumstances surrounding his death remain unclear, and no suspects have yet been identified.

An LAPD spokesperson emphasized that although no immediate danger to the public has been identified, the suspect or suspects in Haidra’s case should be considered armed and dangerous. Authorities continue to investigate both murders and are actively exploring any potential links between the two incidents. As of now, no concrete evidence connects the cases.

77 Things You Might Not Know About Israel

In time for the Jewish state’s 77th birthday on Thursday, enjoy this list of lesser-known facts about Israeli history, places, culture, and society.

APR 30, 2025   Future of Jewish

Whether you’re a Zionist, a curious traveler, or someone who’s seen the headlines but never the heart of our amazing country, here’s your crash course in the miracle, complexity, and culture of Israel.

🕍 Zionism, Jewish History, and the Road to Independence

  1. The word Zion refers to a hill in ancient Jerusalem and became a symbol for the entire Land of Israel in Jewish tradition.
  2. Long before political Zionism gained traction in Europe, Yemenite Jews began immigrating to the Land of Israel in the late 1800s, motivated by deep religious longing and messianic belief. Known as the “First Yemenite Aliyah,” many walked on foot across deserts — through Yemen, Saudi Arabia, and Jordan — to reach Jerusalem and Hebron.
  3. There are five main types of Zionism, each with its own ideology, priorities, and vision for the Jewish state: Political Zionism, Labor Zionism (Socialist Zionism), Revisionist Zionism, Religious Zionism, and Cultural Zionism.
  4. Theodor Herzl, the founder of modern Political Zionism, tried to pitch a Jewish state to the Ottoman Sultan, the German Kaiser, and the Pope.
  5. Herzl first proposed a Jewish homeland in … Uganda.
  6. In the 1940s, the American Jewish mob helped funnel millions of dollars to buy weapons for the Haganah — the Jewish underground army in what became the State of Israel. Some of these funds were collected through Jewish community groups, but others came from off-the-books casino profits, smuggling operations, and “donations” extracted with persuasion.
  7. The Declaration of Independence was signed in Tel Aviv, not Jerusalem, because Jerusalem was under siege at the time.
  8. David Ben-Gurion, Israel’s founding Prime Minister, declared independence in a modest art museum hall. His home on Tel Aviv’s Ben-Gurion Boulevard was tiny, cluttered with books in dozens of languages, and perfectly preserved today.
  9. More than 3,000 Jews from 43 countries in the Diaspora came to help Israel fight its War of Independence beginning in 1948 — many from the United States, Canada, South Africa, Britain, and other countries. These volunteers were known in Hebrew by the acronym Machal (“volunteers from abroad”). World War II veterans brought experience Israel lacked; pilots, mechanics, and medics helped build the infant Israeli Air Force from scratch; and some smuggled arms and planes through loopholes in embargo laws.
  10. 10.Ben-Gurion believed the Negev desert was Israel’s future — so he moved there himself. Ben-Gurion is buried next to his wife Paula overlooking the Negev desert — not in Jerusalem or in a grand cemetery.
  11. 11.Israel is the only country that revived an ancient land and an ancient people at the same time.

🧠 Hebrew: The Revived Language

  1. 12.Hebrew is the only dead language ever revived as a spoken national language. It went from liturgical use only to millions of native speakers in less than 150 years. Before the 20th century, Hebrew was mostly heard in synagogues, read in Torah scrolls, and studied in yeshivot — not shouted at bus drivers or muttered over morning coffee.
  2. 13.Eliezer Ben-Yehuda, known as the “father of modern Hebrew,” moved to Jerusalem in the late 1800s and insisted his family speak only Hebrew. His son Itamar Ben-Avi became the first native speaker of modern Hebrew in over 2,000 years.
  3. 14.Modern Hebrew includes ancient biblical words, modern inventions, and even slang from Arabic, Yiddish, English, and Russian. The first modern Hebrew speakers had to invent everyday words — like “ice cream” (glidah) and “tomato” (agvania).
  4. 15.Israel is the only country in the world where children speak the language their ancestors spoke 3,000 years ago. Mark Twain once joked that Hebrew was the only language that hadn’t had a conversation in 2,000 years.

🛡 National Security

  1. 16.Israel has no military academies. Everyone trains on the job; soldiers learn by doing, while commanders often rise from the ranks, not military colleges.
  2. 17.Israel is the only country in the world that drafts 18-year-old women into combat.
  3. 18.The IDF has a unit made entirely of ultra-Orthodox soldiers, who train and fight while keeping kosher and praying.
  4. 19.France (not the U.S.) was Israel’s first real ally. Hence, the French played a pivotal role in helping Israel develop its nuclear capability during the 1950s and early 1960s. Today it is rumored that Israel has some 400 nuclear weapons.
  5. 20.The 1967 Six-Day War resulted in Israel regaining control of Jerusalem for the first time in nearly 2,000 years. During this conflict, Israel destroyed the air forces of Egypt, Jordan, and Syria in under six hours. It was called Operation Focus — and it changed the region overnight.
  6. 21.Unit 8200, Israel’s elite cyber-intelligence unit, has produced many of the country’s top tech entrepreneurs. Alumni went on to found Waze, Check Point, Wiz, and Mobileye. Some say serving in Unit 8200 is better than an Ivy League degree.
  7. 22.Israel is believed to have carried out more assassinations than any other Western country since World War II. The message is simple: If you harm a Jew, we will hunt you down.
  8. 23.Israel once smuggled Iraqi Jewish children out of Baghdad … hidden inside suitcases. This was part of Operation Ezra and Nehemiah, which airlifted over 100,000 Iraqi Jews in the early 1950s.
  9. 24.The IDF invented “roof knocking” — a tactic that warns civilians before striking terrorist targets embedded within civilian infrastructure. A small, non-lethal warning is fired at a building to give civilians time to evacuate before a precision strike.
  10. 25.In 1960, the Mossad kidnapped Adolf Eichmann — one of the architects of the Holocaust — in Argentina and brought him to trial in Jerusalem. They tracked him, disguised themselves as airline crew, and sedated him before flying him to Israel.
  11. 26.Israel is the only country in history to have airlifted Africans to safety because they were Jews — Ethiopian Jews in Operations Moses, Joshua, and Solomon.
  12. 27.The Mossad once used a fake diving resort in Sudan as a front to smuggle Ethiopian Jews to Israel. Yes, a real hotel staffed by Mossad agents.
This was part of Operation Brothers, which inspired the Netflix film, “The Red Sea Diving Resort.”
  13. 28.In 1976, Israel pulled off the boldest hostage rescue in history — Operation Entebbe. Israeli commandos flew 2,500 miles to Uganda to rescue Jewish hostages held by Palestinian and German terrorists. Over 100 hostages rescued. The only Israeli soldier killed? Yonatan Netanyahu, the brother of Benjamin Netanyahu.
  14. 29.The Mossad has posed as tourists, journalists, diplomats — and in one case, a Canadian birdwatcher — to conduct spy ops. They have even launched fake companies as covers for global missions, such as the ingenious beeper attack against Hezbollah last year. Once, Israel’s intelligence services created a fake psychic hotline to track terrorists. They claimed to be fortune-tellers to trick suspects into revealing info on themselves or their relatives.
  15. 30.Beneath a kibbutz laundry and bakery in Rehovot, a secret underground factory known as the Ayalon Institute produced over 2 million bullets for the Jewish underground — right under the noses of the British. Operated by young Haganah1 members in their teens and twenties, the factory ran in total secrecy from 1945 to 1948, with noise and heat masked by the aboveground bakery machines. Workers sunbathed on the roof to avoid suspicion from looking too pale. Even British soldiers unknowingly dropped off laundry at the site, never realizing they were helping cover up Israel’s first covert munitions operation.
  16. 31.The IDF has a specific soldier role called the “snack sergeant.” During long missions or operations, some units assign a soldier to manage morale … with Bamba, Bisli, and chocolate.

🗺 Jerusalem of Gold

  1. 32.Jerusalem is over 3,000 years old and has been destroyed at least twice, besieged 23 times, captured and recaptured 44 times. And yet, it’s still here. Alive. Holy. (And constantly under renovation.)
  2. 33.The Temple in Jerusalem was destroyed by the Babylonians in 586 BCE and the Romans in 70 CE — both on the same Hebrew date: the 9th of Av. Coincidence? Jews say: not likely.
  3. 34.Jerusalem is mentioned over 600 times in the Hebrew Bible — but not once in the Quran. And yet, it is considered the third holiest city in Islam after Mecca and Medina.
  4. 35.The Old City of Jerusalem is only 1 square kilometer (0.35 square miles), but contains the holiest sites for Judaism (Western Wall), Christianity (Church of the Holy Sepulchre), and Islam (Al-Aqsa Mosque). Basically, it’s the world’s most sacred traffic jam.
  5. 36.Over 1 million notes are placed into the Western Wall each year — and yes, they’re collected and buried respectfully. You can even send one via email or WhatsApp, and a rabbi will stick it in for you.

🌇 Other Israeli Cities and Sites

  1. 37.The Dead Sea is the lowest point on Earth and one of the saltiest bodies of water, while the Sea of Galilee (Kinneret) is actually a freshwater lake, and the lowest such lake in the world.
  2. 38.Tel Aviv has more bars per capita than most major European cities. And more dogs per capita than children.
  3. 39.Haifa is home to the stunning Bahá’í Gardens — a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the most symmetrical places on Earth.
  4. 40.The Israel National Trail stretches the entire length of Israel — from the Lebanese border in the north to the Red Sea in the south. National Geographic named it one of the “World’s Best Hikes” — right up there with the Appalachian Trail and Machu Picchu. There’s a secret, informal network of “trail angels” who host hikers for free. Israelis open their homes for showers, laundry, meals — or even just a backyard to pitch a tent.
  5. 41.In the heart of Jaffa’s historic port lies the Na Laga’at Center, a groundbreaking cultural institution that redefines the boundaries of performance art. Established in 2002, Na Laga’at (which means “Please Touch” in Hebrew) houses the world’s only professional theater ensemble composed of deafblind actors. These performers, many of whom have Usher syndrome (a condition leading to congenital deafness and progressive blindness), communicate through tactile sign language, touch, and movement, crafting performances that are both poignant and profoundly human.

🏫 Politics and Government

  1. 42.No party ever “wins” an Israeli national election; they just build a coalition. Israel has no winner-take-all system. It uses proportional representation, which means parties win seats based on their share of the national vote. No single party has ever won a majority — so forming a government always means cutting deals with smaller parties, from socialists to ultra-Orthodox to Arab nationalists.
  2. 43.You can start a political party with just a few friends and a name. To run for Knesset (parliament), you don’t need a big political machine; you just need a few hundred signatures, a filing fee, and a list of candidates. Dozens of parties register for every election; most don’t pass the 3.25 percent electoral threshold, but they still get campaign airtime and a shot at influencing the discourse.
  3. 44.Instead of a single codified constitution, Israel is governed by a set of “Basic Laws” that function like constitutional principles. This allows for flexibility — and also for enormous legal debates, especially about the balance between “Jewish” and “democratic.”
  4. 45.Shimon Peres, former president and prime minister, served in the Knesset until the age of 94 — making him one of the oldest elected officials in any democracy, anywhere.

💡 Innovation and Technology

  1. 46.Israeli cows are the world’s most productive, with an average yield of approximately 12,265 kilograms (about 27,000 pounds) per cow annually. This remarkable productivity is achieved through a combination of factors, including advanced genetics, innovative farm management, and cooperative agricultural models.
  2. 47.Modern kibbutzim run multi-million-dollar factories, exporting irrigation systems, medical devices, plastics, and software. For example, Netafim, the global leader in drip irrigation, was born on Kibbutz Hatzerim. So were international companies like Caesarstone, Maytronics, Albaad, Tnuva, and Palram Industries.
  3. 48.Israel recycles about 90 percent of its wastewater, the highest rate in the world. Israel is helping solve global water crises through desalination and water reuse technologies.
  4. 49.Despite having limited water and arable land, Israel produces at least 80 percent of its own food needs, including a wide variety of fruits, vegetables, dairy, and even wine. Through a combination of drip irrigation (invented in Israel!), advanced greenhouses, water recycling, and desert agriculture, Israel turned barren land into fertile farms — especially in the Negev.
  5. 50.The world’s first lab-grown steak was developed in Israel.
  6. 51.Israel is one of only 13 countries in the world (and the only in the Middle East) with the ability to launch satellites into space using its own technology and launch site.
  7. 52.As a percentage of GDP, Israel spends more on research and development than any other country, reflecting its deep prioritization of innovation across industries.

Caesarstone, a NASDAQ-listed company that produces quartz surfaces used for kitchen countertops, vanity tops, flooring, wall cladding, and general interior design, originated on Kibbutz Sdot Yam.

✡️ Holidays, Spirit, and Symbols

  1. 53.The national anthem, Hatikvah (“The Hope”), was written in the 1870s, over 70 years before Israel’s founding, by a Galician Jew named Naftali Herz Imber. It was a poem called Tikvatenu (“Our Hope”), expressing the yearning for a return to Zion. The original poem had nine stanzas; only one made it into the anthem. Jewish prisoners in Nazi concentration camps, including Auschwitz, would secretly sing Hatikvah as a quiet act of defiance and hope.
  2. 54.Yom HaZikaron (Memorial Day) and Yom HaAtzmaut (Independence Day) are purposely observed on back-to-back days — Jewish symbolism of transitioning from grief to celebration. The mourning-to-joy whiplash reflects the deep Israeli understanding that national celebration is only possible because of those who sacrificed.
  3. 55.Yom Kippur in Israel is like a national pause button: no TV, no cars, no open stores. Highways become eerily empty — and thousands of kids turn them into bike highways. It’s the quietest day of the year, even in secular Tel Aviv.
  4. 56.In the weeks before Passover, many Israeli grocery stores switch to kosher-for-Passover-only products — covering up entire aisles, changing labels, and even closing bakeries. Cleaning crews deep-clean homes, offices, and school cafeterias with near-OCD levels of detail. In observant cities, you’ll find “kosher-for-Passover” pizza made with potato starch crusts. McDonald’s in Israel even rolls out a matzah-bun burger.
  5. 57.The menorah on Israel’s national emblem is modeled after the one in the ancient Temple in Jerusalem.
  6. 58.Blue and white were chosen for Israel’s flag because of the traditional Jewish prayer shawl, the tallit.
  7. 59.In many apartment buildings and hotels across Israel, you’ll find Shabbat elevators — special elevators programmed to automatically stop at every floor so observant Jews don’t have to press buttons, which is considered a form of prohibited “work” on Shabbat. While a time-saver they are not, they’re a uniquely Israeli solution to blending halacha (Jewish law) with modern convenience — and a frequent source of accidental frustration for clueless tourists.

🎶 Arts, Music, and Pop Culture

  1. 60.Many Israeli bands start in the army. The IDF has official entertainment units, and many Israeli musicians (like Shlomo Artzi, Yehudit Ravitz, Netta Barzilai) got their start performing in army bands.
  2. 61.The Hula Valley Bird Festival is a premier event for bird enthusiasts, held annually in northern Israel’s Hula Valley. This region serves as a critical stopover for migratory birds traveling between Europe, Asia, and Africa, with over 500 million birds passing through each migration season.
  3. 62.Despite its small size, Israel has won 14 Olympic medals — and half are in judo. Athletes like Yael Arad and Arik Ze’evi are national icons.
  4. 63.Israeli film director and screenwriter Ari Folman’s “Waltz with Bashir” (2008) was the first animated documentary ever nominated for an Academy Award. It explores the trauma of Israeli soldiers in the 1982 Lebanon War — through surreal, haunting animation.
  5. 64.Israel’s Haredi (ultra-Orthodox) communities maintain a completely separate media ecosystem, including daily newspapers. These papers are tailored to religious values, meaning no immodest content, no secular celebrity gossip — and almost always no photos of women, even prominent ones. In fact, some will blur or crop out women entirely to comply with modesty standards.
  6. 65.Piyyutim — ancient Hebrew liturgical poems — are being revived in modern Israeli music today.
  7. 66.🌍 Culture and Society
  8. 67.Israel holds the distinction of having the highest number of museums per capita in the world. With over 200 museums serving a population of approximately 10 million, this equates to more than one museum for every 50,000 residents. These museums encompass a vast array of subjects including art, history, science, technology, and culture.
  9. 68.Jews in Israel come from over 100 countries, including Yemen, Morocco, Russia, Ethiopia, Iran, France, South Africa, Canada, India, Cuba, and the United States.
  10. 69.Israel ranks among the top countries in global happiness and life expectancy.
  11. 70.Israeli women average 2.9 children, nearly double the OECD average of 1.5. Even secular Jewish women have higher fertility rates than their counterparts in other developed countries.
  12. 71.Israel has more vegans per capita than anywhere else in the world. Tel Aviv is often ranked the vegan capital of the world.
  13. 72.Established in 1919, and now with some 80,000 members between the ages of 9 and 18, the Israeli Scouts is the largest youth movement in Israel. It is also famously known as the world’s first egalitarian scouting movement, where boys and girls participate together on an equal basis.
  14. 73.Israelis live on two calendars at once. Every Israeli has to juggle both the Gregorian calendar and the Hebrew calendar — for birthdays, holidays, deaths, and even government paperwork.
  15. 74.Before “Startup Nation,” there was the Jaffa orange — a sweet, seedless citrus exported worldwide as early as the 19th century. Cultivated by both Arab and Jewish farmers, it became a symbol of the Zionist agricultural revival and Israel’s early economy. The name “Jaffa” became an international trademark, and crates with Hebrew and Arabic labels were shipped across Europe. Fun fact: the original Jaffa orange variety was so popular, it helped finance the establishment of early Zionist settlements.
  16. 75.While much of the Western world starts work on Monday, Israelis head to work on Sunday — the first day of the Hebrew week. Friday is often a short day or fully off, as businesses close early in preparation for Shabbat. This makes Thursday night the de facto start of the weekend.
  17. 76.There is no single “Israeli cuisine.” It’s a culinary mashup of over 100 diasporas. From Yemenite jachnun, to Austrian schnitzel, Iraqi kubbeh, Ethiopian injera, and Bukharan osh plov, Israeli food is a cultural fusion of Jews from across the globe — all layered atop a Middle Eastern base.
  18. 77.Israel has one of the highest rates of female entrepreneurship and startup founders in the world. Israeli women are raising kids, commanding troops, and raising capital — sometimes all before lunch.
  19. 78.Bamba, a peanut butter-flavored puffed snack, is Israel’s unofficial national food. Over 90 percent of Israeli toddlers eat it regularly. Fun fact: Kids who eat Bamba have a lower incidence of peanut allergies.

Bonus: Under Israel’s Law of Return, passed in 1950, any Jew anywhere in the world — along with their children, grandchildren, and spouses — has the right to immigrate to Israel and receive automatic citizenship. It’s not just policy — it’s a statement of refuge and belonging, written into the DNA of the state just five years after the Holocaust. No other country has a standing offer of safe haven for an entire people.

SUICIDE DRONE!  SUSPICIOUS ENVELOPE AT THE PM

April 30, 2025  Israel Realtime

🇮🇱 ISRAEL MEMORIAL DAY – in memory of the many who gave their lives so that we could live.

HOUTHIS FIRED SUICIDE DRONE at ISRAEL, intercepted before entering Israeli airspace.

⚠️SURPRISE HEATWAVE – Sharav conditions (hot, dry, high air dust) today, possible rain in the evening.  Watch your hydration if involved in outdoor Memorial Day activities.

▪️SUSPICIOUS ENVELOPE – A suspicious envelope was delivered to the Prime Minister’s Office, the same as was sent to over 20 members of the Knesset.  Police and hazardous materials squad called.  The Shin Bet previously responded: no info on source so far.

▪️THE 1 MILLION “PALESTINIANS” WHO AREN’T – Demographer Yoram Ettinger presents data on the distortions in the Palestinian census: Counting ‘immigrants, their children and children’s children, where the accepted method is an immigrant for 1 year.  Counting Jerusalem Arabs, twice. Counting ‘family unification’, then continuing to count them and all their descendants.

Conclusion: there are less than 2 million “Palestinian” residents instead of the 3 million commonly reported.

▪️AND MISCOUNTING EMIGRANTS – some months ago there were headlines about Israelis leaving Israel.  A review of those statistics found the majority were Ukrainian and Russian war immigrants, the majority of which were up-to-3rd-generation-Jewish descendants, who stopped over in Israel, received some immigration benefits and new passport, and headed on to other Western countries.

But in addition, the Central Bureau of Statistics CHANGED the definition of “moving away”, from being gone a-year-and-a-day to begin gone for 275 days.

▪️UN GEN. SECRETARY SAYS – UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres addressed the issue of humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip, saying that for almost two months, Israel has blocked the entry of food, fuel, medicine and commercial goods into the Strip, thereby depriving more than two million people of life-saving aid.  He wrote that aid is non-negotiable and that Israel must protect civilians and implement aid plans.

▪️PROTEST BY BEREAVED FAMILIES IN KIRYAT GAT – prevented United Torah Judaism minister Goldknopf from attending Memorial Day ceremonies at the Kiryat Gat military cemetery.  He will go to ceremonies at the Western Wall instead.

ℹ️BACKGROUNDER – THE ISRAELI POLITICAL SYSTEM

[Ed.:  Jews have a special word in Yiddish for ‘FUCKED’ and that is ‘Fakakta’.  There is no Constitution.  The elected officials are not accountable to the electorate, and the government is ruled by a deep-state, globalist female (post menopausal) who runs the ruling Judicial Oligarchy.  Such is the modern state of Israel’s system of governance which guarantees that everything is (and I’m quoting):  “Impossible”!  … I’m fermished  and Verklempt Read it, and weep!]

April 28, 2025  Israel Realtime

A few people wrote, and asked during a recent interview: can you explain the Israeli political system & parties?  I will attempt to do so, as we say in Hebrew, while standing on 1 leg (super briefly):.. Israel has a parliament with 120 seats or members. .. Elections are held every 4 years, or sooner if the parliament votes to dissolve itself (which usually happens every 2-3 years)… Elections are for PARTIES, not people.  Israel DOES NOT have representatives, nobody is from voters in an area… A group of people registers as a party, listing people in order who will be elected “the list”.

.. For every 0.83% of the total national vote a party receives, it gets 1 seat – which goes to the people on the list in order.

.. The minimum: If a party gets lets than 4 seats, it gets none and those votes are thrown away.

.. If a party gets the majority, 61 seats, it becomes the ruling party and the #1 on the list the prime minister (who picks the rest of the ministers).

.. If no party gets a majority…

…. The President gets to pick a party who is the biggest and most likely to be able to form a group of parties to get to 61 seats, a coalition.

…. If that party can’t make a deal with enough other parties, the president picks another to try.

…. After multiple tries, another election.

.. Forming a coalition:  The lead party talks to other parties, offers them minister positions (power), Knesset control, and budget allocations (money control) to make a deal.

…. The parties have to be sufficiently compatible in their positions to make a deal.

…. More seats, more power, control and money demanded.

.. Parties present themselves as having positions, but they aren’t bound by them.  Often they resonate with parts of the electorate, basically a consistency.

.. The parties in the Knesset:

Coalition:

Likud – 32+4 seats – Rightist, nationalistic, slightly religious, capitalistic (+4, recent merger)

Shas – 11 seats – Ultra-orthodox sephardic, super religious, socialist

United Torah Judaism – 7 seats – Ultra-orthodox, super religious

Otzma Yehudit – 6 seats – Judea-Samaria support, ultra-nationalistic, religious

Religious Zionism – 7 seats – Judea-Samaria support, nationalistic, religious

Noam – 1 seat – (break away from Religious Zionism) Religious zionism, anti-LGBT, non-ultra-orthodox fundamentalism

Opposition:

Yesh Atid – 24 seats – Leftist, secularism, anti-religion in public life

National Unity – 8 seats – Centrist, professionalism

Israel our Home – 6  seats – Rightist, extreme secularism, strong national defense, Russian immigrant support

The Democrats – 4 seats – recent merger of extreme-secularist-socialist Meretz and traditional leftist Labor

Arab-Israeli:

Hadash-Ta’al – 5 seats – Arab issues, support Palestinianism, socialist-communist

United Arab List – 5 seats – Muslim brotherhood, [Emphasis added] Israeli Arab issues, Bedouin support

Due to the war there will be big changes in some parties results in the next election, and a new party or two popping up.

REVEALED: Hamas Tried To Abduct 4 Female Soldiers On Shabbos

BOMBSHELL REPORT: BIDEN GAVE HAMAS OVER 2 BILLION DOLLARS TO KILL ISRAELIS   by Phil Schneider

April 23, 2025   Israel Unwired

“Emergency Money” was sent by the United States government under the Biden administration was sent directly to the Hamas terrorists AFTER October 7th. This was all done under the pretext of sending “humanitarian” aid to the “innocent Arabs” caught up in the middle of a war.

WATCH  [1:14]

This would be akin to the United States having an air drop to Berlin during World War II in order to help the civilian population during World War II while American GI’s battled the German Nazi war machine. It would have been patently absurd. The same goes for Gaza. Of the 2 billion that United States taxpayers transferred through the council of anti-Israel people that were heading up the United States while Joe Biden dawdled along, the vast majority propped up the killing machine called Hamas.

That is why it is so important to delegitimize any attempt to humanize the “innocent” Arabs in Gaza. The entire facade was based on one big lie. All of the Arabs in Gaza who were noncombatants did not need airdrops and money in Gaza for their continued life there. They needed to be displaced, moved, and freed from the shackles of Hamas. The only ones doing that were the IDF soldiers of the State of Israel.

It is true that the United States did indeed transfer enormous amounts of weapons to the State of Israel following October 7th, but that does not justify the concomitant arming of the enemy under the guise of humaintarian support. This is one of many “humanitarian” causes that are well-served by being cut by the Trump administration.

🎗️DEAL NEWS – Hamas delegation in Cairo: Ready to release all hostages in exchange for a 5-year ceasefire.  (No additional details provided, and the details are ALWAYS the problem.) [Emphasis added]

[!!! Ed,:  This is the best proposal yet!!  But, we should up the ante.  Give them a 500-year ceasefire, and let them remain armed, and in control of Gaza! Capiche?]  [Emphasis added!]

▪️IDF THREATENS – IDF: We intend to soon significantly expand the military pressure on the Gaza Strip – we will maneuver to new locations, including the mobilization of reserve forces on a significant scale.  The forces will operate simultaneously and with force in places where the IDF has not operated so far (the IDF has avoided areas where hostages are held, to avoid putting their lives in danger from the attack.)

▪️ON THE ERITREANS – the 2 Eritreans captured by the Jordanian border are actually murder suspects and were captured trying to flee to Jordan.

▪️TWO HERO SOLDIERS HAVE FALLEN – Nota Yitzchak Kahane, of the Israeli Border Guards, fell in battle in Gaza.  And Ido Volach, 21, from Jerusalem, fell in battle in Gaza as well.

▪️600 SYRIAN DRUZE RELIGIOUS LEADERS – were allowed into Israel to visit the Druze Nabi Laban holy site for their holiday.  Great excitement, to the point of tears, was recorded among the visiting Syrian Druze.  One of them met his daughter, who lives in Israel, for the first time in 22 years (as contact with Israelis was a crime, even family, under the former Syrian regime).

▪️HAMAS RELEASES PROPAGANDA – Hamas releases video showing (allegedly) kidnapped person being rescued from tunnel following Israeli airstrike.

🔹US – IRAN NEGOTIATIONS – Iranian media: After 9 hours of indirect talks in Oman, the Iranian and American teams will return to their country for consultations.  Today’s round of talks was more serious than the previous two rounds. We went into technical details. The atmosphere in the talks was serious and practical.  There are still differences of opinion on general issues.

🔹US vs the HOUTHIS – aggressive attacks are being reported in Saada province, northern Yemen this evening.

🔹IRANIAN ADVISOR SAYS – “The Holocaust is a complete lie. Resistance will not be stopped. Calls for the destruction of Israel are heard all over the world. The Quran is gaining supporters in the Western world and Islam is taking over.”

🌎WORLD NEWS OF NOTE.. Huge demonstration in Ireland demanding a halt to Islamic immigration.

.. London: At a demonstration between Indians and Pakistanis, the Indian side had the Israeli flag, while the Pakistani side opposite had the Palestinian flag.
