How a Canadian Veteran Was Fined $25K for Walking in the Woods: Exclusive Interview With Jeff Evely (Video 6:38)
NOV 16, 2025 RAIR FOUNDATION USA
RAIR Foundation USA spoke with Canadian freedom fighter Jeff Evely outside the Ottawa courthouse during the October 7th sentencing of Freedom Convoy leaders Chris Barber and Tamara Lich — two peaceful protesters turned political prisoners in Trudeau’s increasingly authoritarian state.
RAIR has interviewed Jeff before, including when the Canadian government targeted him for supporting the historic 2022 Freedom Convoy — the uprising of truckers and citizens against vaccine mandates and COVID tyranny.
But now, Jeff is facing yet another charge, this time from the province of Nova Scotia.
Why?
Because Jeff walked in the woods. Yes, you read that correctly.
THE “CRIME”: WALKING IN A FOREST THE GOVERNMENT CLAIMED WAS OFF-LIMITS
Nova Scotia issued an outrageous decree claiming no one could walk in certain forests due to a so-called “fire watch.” Violators faced fines over $20,000.
But the rules — like all authoritarian rules — only applied to the people the regime wanted to punish.
An anti-colonialist play attacking Europeans? That was allowed in the same restricted zone.
A homeless encampment with fires and cooking? No problem.
But an ordinary Canadian going for a peaceful walk?
$25,000+ fine.
JEFF’S ACT OF DEFIANCE
So Jeff Evely did what real patriots do when tyranny becomes absurd:
He walked into a ranger station, told the officers to watch him, walked several yards into the forest and back — then marched inside and requested they issue him the fine.
He wanted a direct challenge.
A clean test case.
A bright line in the sand.
This wasn’t civil disobedience for theatrics.
It was a stand against the ever-expanding authoritarianism gripping Canada — a country where basic freedoms are now treated as privileges dispensed at the pleasure of the state.
THE LEGAL FIGHT FOR FREEDOM
Jeff is being represented by John Carpay’s Centre for Justice and Constitutional Freedoms, whose founder RAIR recently interviewed about the avalanche of Soviet-style laws coming out of Canada — legislation that will gut transparency, crush dissent, and criminalize opposition to state narratives.
Outside the courthouse after the Barber–Lich sentencing, Jeff told RAIR he believes he can win this case — not just for himself, but for every Canadian who refuses to bow to creeping communism.
AMERICA, THIS IS YOUR WARNING
Canada is no longer a harmless cautionary tale.
It is a blueprint for what the American Left is trying to impose here — right now.
A nation once known for rugged individualism and personal liberty has become a collectivist surveillance society where:
Rights are revoked without cause
Mandates replace laws
Dissenters are treated as criminals
“Emergencies” are fabricated to justify power grabs
And government agencies weaponize trivial rules to crush political opposition
This is what communism looks like:
The excuse is never the point.
The control is the point.
Jeff Evely’s simple act — walking in the woods — has become a symbol of resistance against a regime that fears even the smallest expression of personal freedom.
America, don’t look away. What Trudeau built in Canada is exactly what the global Left is constructing in our own backyard.
RAIR will continue covering Jeff’s case, and exposing every step in the fight against North America’s accelerating slide into authoritarianism.

Canadians Forced into ‘Choosing’ Euthanasia After Being Denied Treatments Frank Bergman
November 16, 2025
Canada’s spiraling euthanasia system is once again under fire as heartbreaking new accounts reveal that a surging number of patients are being forced into “choosing” the government’s “assisted suicide” death program after being denied actual medical care under the nation’s collapsing socialized healthcare model.
An alarming number of Canadians are reporting that they have no other choice but to agree to be euthanized by the government, despite the supposed availability of treatments for their conditions.
As Slay News has previously reported, the government’s Medical Assistance in Dying (MAiD) program is now saving tens of millions of dollars a year.
In 2024, the government saved over $136 million by euthanizing patients instead of treating them.
The latest chilling case to emerge is that of 84-year-old Cleo Gratton, a retired diamond driller from Chelmsford, Ontario.
Gratton’s story is sending shockwaves across the country.
He died earlier this month of natural causes, but only after being approved for the government’s “assisted suicide” scheme.
His family says the approval came directly after an appalling hospital experience that left him convinced death was preferable to returning to the facility.
Gratton suffered from heart disease and kidney failure.
But instead of receiving dignified care during a recent hospital stay, the CBC reports he spent a night in an emergency room, only to be transferred to a hallway on the seventh floor.
The taxpayer-funded doctors refused to give him the care he needed and convinced him that euthanasia would better serve the greater good.
“There were no lights; all the bulbs in that hallway had been completely removed,” his daughter Lynn said.
“Patients are passing by, nurses are going by, no privacy, no compassion, no dignity.”
She added that nurses had to use headlamps just to examine his feet.
The conditions were so degrading that Gratton told his family he would “rather die than go back.” Days later, he applied for MAiD — Canada’s euthanasia program now infamous for replacing care with chemical death.
Before his natural passing, Gratton pleaded with his family to expose what he endured: “Push, push, push for change… Make people aware of what’s going on.”
His family is honoring that wish.
A Pattern of Patients Being Denied Care — but Approved for Death
Gratton’s story is only the latest in a staggering pattern: Canadians who want medical treatment, home care, or palliative support are being told the only available option is assisted suicide.
Slay News has been tracking these cases for years, and they’re accelerating:
• Norman Meunier (Quebec): A quadriplegic man who developed severe bedsores after being left on an ER stretcher for four days without a proper mattress. Overwhelmed and denied home care, he “chose” MAiD last year.
• “Mrs. B” (Ontario): An 80-year-old woman denied hospice and palliative care. After her spouse became overwhelmed, she was assessed for MAiD and lethally injected shortly after.
• Sathya Dhara Khovac (Winnipeg): A 44-year-old woman who repeatedly begged for home care resources but was refused. In her obituary, she wrote she “could have had more time” if she’d been given help. Instead, she was euthanized in 2022.
• Sean Tagert (B.C.): A 41-year-old father who battled the system for years to receive home care that would allow him to remain close to his son. Unable to secure the support he needed, he felt he had “no other choice” but euthanasia in 2019.
• Canadian veterans: A recent testimony revealed a surging number of veterans are being offered MAiD instead of the mental health support they requested.
These aren’t isolated incidents, however.
They’re a systemic feature of a government-run system using euthanasia as a cost-saving pressure valve for an overstretched and underfunded healthcare bureaucracy.
A Healthcare System Pushing Vulnerable Toward Death
Even as Gratton’s family praised the individual doctors and nurses, who they said are overworked and stretched thin, they warned that the system itself is failing.
“Why are they still taking in patients if we have an overcrowding issue and they have no place to put these people?” Lynn asked.
The answer is becoming clearer:
The system has an escape hatch after legalizing euthanasia.
Rather than investing in long-term care, home care, mental health support, or palliative medicine, Canada’s government has built the world’s most aggressive assisted suicide regime.
And it is increasingly used on the elderly, the disabled, the poor, and those simply unable to access basic support.
With the government pushing to expand MAiD to include mental illness, critics warn the system will shift from crisis to catastrophe.
Euthanasia Has Become the Default Option, Not the Last Resort
In a civilized society, assisted suicide would be a tragic last resort.
In Canada, it is becoming a routine substitute for care.
The chilling reality is that the Liberal Canadian government now sees “assisted suicide” as:
- A cost-saving mechanism.
- A release valve for a failing system.
- A quiet way to disappear the vulnerable.
This is not compassion.
It’s coercion through neglect.
And unless Canadians demand change, the stories will only grow more frequent and more horrifying.

UK Government Caught Hiding COVID Shot–Death Data “To Prevent Distress or Anger” NICOLAS HULSCHER, MPH
They already shared the data with Big Pharma — but NOT the public.
NOV 15, 2025
Today, The Telegraph revealed that the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) has refused to publish anonymized data that would likely show strong evidence of a link between COVID-19 “vaccines” and mass deaths.
According to the report, UKHSA justified the secrecy by claiming that releasing the figures could cause “distress or anger” among bereaved families if a connection were discovered.
Even more concerning: The same dataset — mapping vaccination dates to dates of death — was provided to pharmaceutical companies but NOT released to the public. UKHSA also claimed that publishing the numbers could “lead to misinformation” or impact vaccine uptake.
For two years, the campaign group UsForThem fought to obtain the anonymised dataset through FOI requests. UKHSA refused every time. Ultimately, the Information Commissioner sided with the agency, allowing the data to remain hidden indefinitely.
MPs and peers had already sounded the alarm last year, urging the government to release the data “immediately,” noting that it had been quietly shared with vaccine manufacturers.
Intentionally withholding critical vaccine-safety data carries serious legal consequences, including but not limited to Misconduct in Public Office, Corporate Manslaughter or Gross Negligence Manslaughter, breaches of statutory duties under public-health and disclosure laws, and potential Fraud by omission or abuse of position.

A Stunning Betrayal of Both Belgium and the United States
Belgium has now crossed into a realm that would once have seemed impossible even in Europe’s increasingly unstable political climate. The Belgian state has paid €350,000 in court-ordered compensation to convicted Tunisian jihadist Nizar Trabelsi, and then released him onto Belgian territory illegally, unable to deport him, unable to detain him, and unable to control him. The case exposes far more than bureaucratic incompetence. It reveals a nation — and a continent — that has lost the ability and even the will to defend itself, its allies, or its citizens.
It is also a direct betrayal of the United States, whose soldiers were the explicit target of Trabelsi’s planned suicide attack.
A Terrorist Who Sought to Kill Americans
Trabelsi, a former professional footballer, embraced militant Islam, joined al-Qaeda, and prepared a suicide bombing targeting the Kleine-Brogel NATO airbase, which houses U.S. servicemembers and nuclear-capable American aircraft. His plot was not symbolic. His objective was mass casualties among both Belgian civilians and American personnel. Belgium convicted him in 2004, and under any sane legal order, that should have been the end of his presence on Western soil.
Instead, what followed was a decade-long demonstration of European self-sabotage.
How an al-Qaeda Operative Became €350,000 Richer
In 2013, the United States requested his extradition. Belgium agreed. But the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) immediately intervened and prohibited Belgium from transferring him, claiming he might face a sentence or conditions in the U.S. that would violate “European human-rights standards.”
Belgium ignored the ruling and extradited him anyway — and the ECHR retaliated. The fines were not paid into a victims’ fund or an international mechanism. They were paid directly to Trabelsi:
- €300,000 in penalties
- €50,000 in legal costs
€350,000 in total
And because the U.S. did not immediately return him, the penalties escalated until they reached the maximum allowed under EU law.
When the U.S. finally sent him back in 2025, Trabelsi returned not only a convicted al-Qaeda operative — but a man enriched by Europe’s legal system.
Belgium Tried to Deport Him. The Courts Forbade It.
Upon his return, Belgian authorities attempted the obvious: they sought to hold him in a detention center and expel him to Tunisia. Belgian courts blocked both steps. The state was instructed that Trabelsi may not be detained, may not be deported, and must be released.
Asylum and Migration Minister Anneleen Van Bossuyt articulated the government’s powerlessness:
“The court decisions do not allow me to detain him any longer or send him back.”
A sovereign nation is now legally barred from removing a convicted terrorist from its own territory.
Today, Trabelsi lives illegally in Belgium — but remains completely undeportable and effectively untouchable, with authorities limited to passive “monitoring.”
Belgium Criminalizes Its Citizens While Rewarding a Terrorist
Perhaps the darkest irony of the Trabelsi affair is that Belgium has shown far more determination in prosecuting its own citizenry than in dealing with a terrorist who attempted to murder Americans and Belgians.
Belgium has one of the most aggressively enforced “hate speech” regimes in Europe. The country has arrested, prosecuted, and even imprisoned its own residents for political speech, particularly speech critical of Islam or immigration.
Notable examples include:
- Voorpost activists, sentenced to six months in prison simply for displaying a banner reading “Stop Islamization.”
- Teachers and public employees disciplined or removed for showing Muhammad cartoons during lessons on free expression.
- Politicians such as Filip Dewinter subjected to repeated criminal investigations for warning about demographic replacement.
- Ordinary citizens fined or given suspended sentences for social-media posts deemed “Islamophobic” or “offensive.”
Belgium has demonstrated a remarkable zeal in punishing citizens for their speech.
But when confronted with a hardened al-Qaeda terrorist?
He receives money, protection, rights, and freedom of movement — despite being in the country illegally.
This is not inconsistency. This is ideology.
The Courts Call It “Rule of Law.” In Reality, It Is the End of It.
When the Brussels Court of Appeal upheld the €350,000 payment, it claimed the payout was “necessary to protect the rule of law.” This phrase has become a mantra within EU institutions, but in this case it reveals how deeply the concept has been corrupted.
“Rule of law” no longer refers to justice, sovereignty, order, or the security of citizens. It now refers to the supremacy of supranational courts, foreign judges, NGO litigation, and legal doctrines imported from outside national democratic control. It is a system in which the state cannot protect its own people, but must protect those who seek to harm them.
It is a system where the terrorist has rights. And the citizen has obligations.
A Warning to America
The Trabelsi case is more than a Belgian scandal. It is an international issue. A terrorist who plotted to kill American troops was enriched and empowered by a European court, shielded by European judges, and returned to European territory with more legal protections than an ordinary citizen.
The forces that produced this outcome — global governance, supranational legal power, open-border ideology, institutionalized Islamization, and the criminalization of dissent — are the same forces now operating inside the United States.
Belgium is not merely a cautionary tale.
It is the blueprint for what happens when countries abandon sovereignty and submit to political, judicial, and demographic pressures they no longer control.
Unless Western nations confront these forces directly, Belgium’s fate will not remain Belgium’s alone.
Belgium has shown us the future — and it is coming for all of us.

Hamas’s Top Allies in the Far-East Receive Defense and State Department Contracts and Grants
November 12, 2025 Middle East Forum
The State Department handed out, between 2022 and 2024, over $290,000 to Angkatan Belia Islam Malaysia (ABIM), the terror-tied Malaysian offshoot of the Muslim Brotherhood, even as the group pledged support for Hamas’s October 7 killings of Israeli civilians and cheered the kidnap of the Bibas family. U.S. federal departments have also approved a further $1 million to the International Islamic University Malaysia, a key Islamist institution in the Far-East used by designated terrorist group Hamas as recruiting grounds.
Both the university and ABIM share the same founder: the current pro-terror anti-Jewish prime minister, Anwar Ibrahim. Malaysia is a key ally for Hamas, which sent terrorists to the far-eastern country in 2014 to receive paraglider training—a tactic employed by the terror group during its October 7 terror attacks.
According to federal spending records, U.S. funding of ABIM was issued to counter the Chinese regime’s misinformation efforts in the region over its repression of Uyghur Muslims. This is believed to be the first time the U.S. government handed money directly to a foreign Muslim Brotherhood offshoot.
ABIM, also known as the Malaysian Islamic Youth Movement, was established in 1971, writes one Georgetown academic, as the “recognized Malaysian ‘sibling’ of the Brotherhood,” a dangerous Islamist movement regarded by Western policymakers as a key driver of radicalization and terror. Indeed, ABIM’s own website features the claim: “The initial model that inspired the founding of many movements like Abim is of course that of the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt.”
Islamist Prime Minister Ibrahim remains involved with his creation, publicly disclosing his consultations with the group. In August, he praised ABIM for “shaping the thinking and ideals of the younger generation” and serving as “the moral voice of the ummah.”
The Investigative Project on Terrorism describes ABIM as part of Malaysia’s “Hamas lobby,” citing ABIM’s support for Hamas operatives. In 2015, ABIM announced that its “leadership … headed by its President, held a meeting with Khaled Mesh’al, Head of the Political Bureau of Hamas in Palestine, during his official visit to Kuala Lumpur this week.” ABIM reported that Meshal “appreciated the strong support of the Malaysian community” and expressed his hope for a “fourth intifada.” ABIM officials gushingly described the Hamas terror leader “as a skilled, refined and humble leader …. a great leader, who occupies a position preceded by the likes of [Hamas founders] Sheikh Ahmad Yasin and Dr Abdul Aziz Rantisi.”
In 2023, ABIM openly supported the October 7 attacks, sharing Hamas images and video across its social media, and declaring its “support for the struggle of the Palestinian people.” Today, ABIM remains openly supportive of Hamas.
ABIM praises Hamas’s “humanity” upon capturing the Bibas family, including a baby just 9 months old. Hamas later murdered the children.
A few years earlier, Hamas’s Khaled Meshal also addressed the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM), an important center of Islamist ideological development. As noted by the Meir Amit Intelligence and Terrorism Information Center, Hamas “conducts extensive social and cultural activities for students at the International Islamic University Malaysia.” Some are “recruited to Hamas’s military-terrorist wing” and “sent to a course in Turkey (at Hamas’s expense), given money by Hamas and then sent to Judea and Samaria.”
In 2025, grants to ABIM were canceled in accordance with the Trump administration’s executive orders. Contracts with IIUM, however, are still funded. The Departments of State and Defense have authorized almost $950,000 to IIUM. Defense grants were issued for a variety of military and technological programs, while the State Department chose IIUM to “provide and conduct programs on preventing violent extremism in different segments for Malaysian youth” and to “provide virtual and physical capacity building programs and trainings for CSOs, NGOs and religious authorities on addressing vulnerable groups subject to radicalization…”
Malaysia’s Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim worked as president of IIUM for a decade. Ibrahim is also a leading figure of American Islamism, having long-served as a top official of the Safa network, a Virginia-based web of wealthy interlinked charities, businesses, and think tanks, founded by Muslim Brotherhood ideologues, and today run by a small group of powerful Islamist voices previously investigated over terror financing activities. Ibrahim was chairman of Safa’s flagship institution, the International Institute of Islamic Thought (IIIT), which helped establish and run Malaysia’s IIUM.
The IIUM and IIIT share another founder: AbdulHamid AbuSulayman, whom a federal investigator once described as among IIIT’s “ardent supporters” of the designated terror organizations Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad.
Safa’s IIIT and IIUM are sister organizations. IIIT provides IIUM with scholarships and officials, while an IIUM founder has boasted about the “decision to not become a secular university and how they managed to achieve it with International Institute of Islamic Thought support.” IIUM once published articles portraying Prime Minister Ibrahim’s rise as a product of the IIUM and the IIIT’s partnership, writing that should Ibrahim be elected, “the army and civilians in the constituency are bound to gain from the same trajectory with which the IIUM and the IIIT in Malaysia once handsomely gained.”
The U.S. taxpayer is funding Malaysia’s slide into Islamism. At events in 2023 organized by Safa and IIUM, Prime Minister Ibrahim declared that “Islamic education syllabus” in Malaysia would be “reformed” and that “Islamic civilization” would be instilled at “every level.”
IIUM is not the only Safa entity to receive Defense Department monies. Since 2021, federal spending records indicate Safa company CommunityForce Incorporated has been approved for $28 million of federal contracts, mostly from the Defense Department, for programs such as the U.S. Air Force’s “Force Modernization and Sustainment Automated Management System.”
CommunityForce officials include Mohammad Omar Ashraf, a key Safa network operative whose home was included in a list of residences to be searched as outlined in a 2003 federal affidavit alleging “a group of individuals … suspected of providing material support to terrorists, money laundering, and tax evasion through the use of a variety of related for-profit companies and ostensible charitable entities under their control.”
Other CommunityForce officials include Firas Barzinji, who also serves as an attorney for other Safa network institutions, and is involved with other Muslim Brotherhood-founded groups such as the Islamic Society of North America. Firas is the son of the late Jamal Barzinji, a prominent American Islamist and Safa member, about whom federal agent David Kane declared: “I believe that Barzinji is not only closely associated with PIJ [Palestinian Islamic Jihad] (as evidenced by ties to [convicted PIJ financer Sami] Al-Arian, including documents seized in Tampa in 1995 reflecting direct correspondence between Barzinji and Al-Arian), but also with HAMAS.”
Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim is an unpleasant partner for the United States. Ibrahim has previously attacked a “Jewish-controlled” public relations firm, alleged “Zionist” conspiracies influencing his opponents and “directly involved in the running of the government,” and he has boasted of his efforts to “remove renowned Islamic scholar Dr Shaikh Yusuf Qardhawi’s name from [the U.S.] terrorist blacklist.”
The late Qaradawi served as spiritual leader of the Muslim Brotherhood, and was best known, the Counter-Extremism Project notes, for advocating “the murder of Americans, gay people, and Jews through his writings, speeches, and fatwas.”
In 2022, Ibrahim posted on Twitter a video of him speaking with Ismail Haniyeh, leader of the U.S. designated terrorist group Hamas. Speaking in English, Ibrahim states that his own election victory is also a victory for the “Palestinians and the ummah” and pledged to “work together, inshallah, to redeem the lost image and also role of the ummah.” Ibrahim subsequently also spoke to Hamas’s political leader Khaled Meshal, former chairman of the Hamas Political Bureau.
After the October 7 attacks, Ibrahim reaffirmed his support for Hamas, praising its child-killing terrorists as “freedom fighters” and met again in 2024 with the late Hamas terror leader Ismail Haniyeh.
Ibrahim, and his organizations, ABIM and IIUM, should not be funded by the U.S. government, but designated and sanctioned, not funded. Malaysia is today part of a dangerous Sunni Islamist axis of evil, and must be opposed.
Sam Westrop Sam Westrop has headed Islamist Watch since March 2017. Before that, he ran Stand for Peace, a London-based counter-extremism organization.
